A gimmick is "a trick or device intended to attract attention, publicity, or trade." The Cube obviously has some goodies and peripherals, but it wasn't dependent on any gimmick the way the Wii is, neither commercially nor creatively. It's literally just your 'Game'Cube

        >a trick or device intended to attract attention, publicity, or trade
Never heard of the GBA link did you? The biggest gimmick to trick children in existance. Not to mention many Nintendo games have a lot of content permanently locked behind buying the same game twice. Oh wait you're a zommie so you don't remeber Metroid unlockables locked behind $200 of cables and hardware add-ons.

The GameCube was riddled with just as many pointless and arbitrary peripherals as the Wii, the only difference is they were not mandatory. GBA had video carts, E-Reader, tilt games, and stuff like WarioWare which albeit good was still pretty gimmicky for its time. Even the original Game Boy had GB Camera and GB Printer.

It's one of the few JRPGs of its era that has a lot of compact little dungeons with quick puzzle solving almost à la Zelda, methodical action combat with 60 FPS instead of a featureless turn-based system and a perfect solution for random encounters. World, soundtrack and story offer everything you could realistically ask for and the characters look great and have a lot of charm. Then, multiplayer on top of everything else. Not sure what your disconnect is, but I'm happy that most people love it

I don't think GameCube is especially more pure than a Wii. But the last pure systems would probably be the so-called fourth generation ones. After that it had already become a big corporate business.

You HAD to play it outside if you wanted to experience the full range of colors the screen was actually capable of. The perfect angle at the perfect time of the day made it possible to see everything perfectly clear.
I hated the led attachments because of all the glare and the rest of artificial light just couldn't do it.

Is the AGS-001 screen different than the original with the backlight off? I recently got one for the first time, and I'm having zero issue seeing the screen if I use a light that's positioned purposefully. I've begun to immediately dismiss all of these people I see complaining about the GBA screen, but I'm wondering if they're not identical.

SNES was the last good Nintendo.

Hey, if you were actually old enough to be gaming during this gen you'd know GC sold so poorly it went on sale like halfway through the gen, it was the cheap console. I bought it just with pocket money and "points" from trading in old games cause why not. GC was the cheap or "poor" console if there was one that generation.
