Graphics prostitutes have always been the biggest blight on the industry. I've been saying this since like 2007 and it's just as true now as it was then.
At least then it was a big leap forward

I didn't care then and I don't car now. I was fully satisfied graphically by 90s games. Hell legend of mana looks better than any AAA shit from this year.
That doesn't look real, it just looks like shitty bodycam footage. Same bullshit we've dealt with before like film grain, lens flare, chromatic aberration, head bob, and general shaky cam.
That's the trick, doing it like that hides the imperfections and since it's a body cam your mind doesn't trigger the uncanny valley feeling as easily

The last time graphical improvements impressed me was around the 360/ps3 era. Once it reached a certain general level of fidelity, there is no real need to improve it further.
Perusing realism as a graphical ideal is an artistic dead end.
