Mother 3 [AGB game]
didn't make me cry, but had the potential to ruin my fricking day with how depressing some of the themes in it were.
I've played well over 100 games during my time on this shithole of a world, and I can list a few others but i'd rather not introduce redundancies for other anons who want to post.
Mother 3 reminds you of the simple fact that humans used to be happier by living in small communities close to nature. We are uprooted now, living a type of life that's in contradiction with how are hunter-gatherer psyches developed. People who see Mother 3 as a leftist critique of capitalism completely miss the point. Its message is philosophical, not political.
>Its message is philosophical, not political.
Let's cut the bullshit, here. It's both.
People focus on the political aspect because it's an obvious element for the story.
The thing people tend to overlook is the imbalance/alteration of nature or what is natural.
The death of Hinawa couldn't have been a more [in your face] example of that even with the event happening so early in the game with the Mecha-Drago - a cyborg of a Drago that's naturally a peaceful creature.
The closure of the game is that it's easier to rid a tyrant, but nature takes millennia to heal if ever. Been years since I played it, but I think the final sequence displays the world undergoing a great reset sort of deal.
the episode where he set it free?
i vaguely remember what all went down since the last time i watched it was on tv in the late 90s.
can't say i remember that giving me the feels.
It certainly gave me plenty. I cried for the rest of evening, maybe even harder that I ever did in my life. I think it was a sudden tonal shift in the series, from comedy to bitter theme of saying farewell to the friend that just felt heavy. There were only few instances of media in my life which could make me that sad, and this one was certainly the most memorable.
I kinda wish for some vidya that can make me feel super emotional, but I haven't found one yet. Maybe Castle of Illusion counts, lol. Played it at someone's house when I was 7 and couldn't beat World 3, broke into tears and they switched it to Sonic 3.
>The episode when Tommy left the power rangers
He was back like the next episode but frick that one got me good. Next day at school everyone was talking about it.
Hard to say. I've seen so many "how the frick was i supposed to know" homosexuals failing simple tasks in games over and over so many times that I laughed so hard I cried.
FF6 because it was the last game I played with my girlfriend before she passed away. Terras Theme / Overworld theme gets me choking up and sobbing every time.
Thank you anon. Yeah I'm fine, it was a long time ago. Every couple years or so, I like to play through it and remember the good times, even if it's a little sad.
Nothin', because I'm a big man and I don't cry at NOTHIN'. Except Mary-Kate & Ashley: Get a Clue on the gameboy, when they got home in time for dinner at the end was just too much to bear
It is. I didn't expect to get attached to characters in a 30 year old Mecha TRPG, especially since FM1 doesn't seem to do characterization that well. But it does work really well as a package. Imo it does Gundam 08th ms better than Gundam did.
I wouldn't say that made me cry, but finding Nina's sister in BoFIV, Robo staying behind and taking centuries to save the forest, and then Lucca's time travel when she repairs him in the present in Chrono Trigger and Galuf's fate in FFV made me feel sad — put down the controller and stare at the screen for a couple of minutes sad.
Wait 'til you play FM2. The game mechanics are more complicated but the story is great if you're looking for more of that "people dealing with the aftermath of war" feeling. Plus, there's an easter egg from 1 that hits hard
Majora's Mask
Mother 3
Klonoa 1 and 2
FF Tactics
Live A Live
Threads of Fate (Rue)
Valkyrie Profile
Terranigma, Illusion of Gaia
Dark Cloud 2
Lufia 2
Ghost Trick
Mega Man Zero had some moments
Meremanoid
Venus & Braves
I can't say it made me cry, but the arcade ending to Double Dragon 2 was a real downer. Unlike the NES version, the final battle takes place against the shadow clones, I suppose representing the Lee's dark obsession with revenge. After you defeat them Marian is avenged, but still dead. No illusions, no angels bringing her back to life, just a picture from happier days...
>Played FF2 well after playing other FF games >Escaping from a dungeon >Boulder rolls downhill >Monk bro stops it with his bare hands and tells you to run >Its an FF game, he'll be fine >Nope, dude gets crushed
Happened to like 3 other people to, didn't expect people to straight up die in an RPG.
For actual tears, I don't know but that scene in FF5, where Faris dragon saves your life, then she's screaming at the beach as it dies made me cry like a b***h, no clue why.
It's sad but I love when that happens in RPGs >Crono dying and bringing him back being something optional. >Bartz and co. unsuccessfully using Phoenix Downs on Galuf after his fight with ExDeath. >Not waiting for Shadow.
That scene in Secret of Mana where the elder tells Randy he was adopted and the track "Ghost of the Night" starts playing. That gave me major feels as a kid.
This game drove me insane when I was 10. I felt possessed. I got so sick for days since I started playing it. I have to have a bucket near me to puke. My mother is very religious and allowed me stay up to beat the game. Once I beat the game immediately felt a lot better and started CRYING tears of joy like I killed Spider Mastermind in real life while We Are the Champions by Queen played in my head. My mother told me "see what you get playing these demonic games?" For years I stick with cute E rated games.
Years later I discovered I had a stomach virus from a undercooked turkey leg and Doom was giving me motion sickness the entire time. It was just a coincidence that my symptoms increased once I started Doom 2 and the gameplay was really that addicting. Demonic possession debunked and went back playing edgelord games while me and my mom recreate the ending of Harvester.
I was playing in Hurt Me Plenty difficulty btw(it was still hard)
Kek. I bet she knew what you had and played along while going to the next room to laugh. >"Yeah, anon... SATAN *chuckles* has you feeling sick. Now you go and beat the devil out that there console while I clean the kitchen"
>The people there know thirst, hunger, disease. They suffer all these
things and in the end, they grow old and die. But for one brief moment, they shine as bright as the sun. Because they know these hardships, they also know the meaning of happiness. Compared to theirs our perfect world is cold and sterile.
the entire flashback scene in mega man legends 2 made me shed a tear tbh
that and also the post credits scene when you interpret the banter as the internal company politics being the reason as to why legends 3 didn't happen right away and was eventually cancelled
Silent Hill 2 is the saddest I can think of.
how reddit could you possibly get
Lufia 2.
Came to post 1+2
That was my first one I remember crying at. I was a pretty little kid, and it really surprised me.

None, because I already cried all my tears out after Butterfree episode of Pokemon show.
the episode where he set it free?

Klonoa (PS1). If you know, you know. If you don't know, you are going to know.
The giygas fight and cast credits in Earthbound made me cry
Seeing your animal pals stuffed into a zoo in Terranigma was less emotional but more of a reflective downer
Jantei Monogatari 2 :'-(
Hard to say. I've seen so many "how the frick was i supposed to know" homosexuals failing simple tasks in games over and over so many times that I laughed so hard I cried.
Street fighter 2 because my dad would play me on our snes and if he lost he would beat me until he got horny and then rape me
that's pretty gay, anon
FF6 because it was the last game I played with my girlfriend before she passed away. Terras Theme / Overworld theme gets me choking up and sobbing every time.
Jesus christ I'm sorry anon, hope youre doing okay
Thank you anon. Yeah I'm fine, it was a long time ago. Every couple years or so, I like to play through it and remember the good times, even if it's a little sad.
Kung Fu Master home conversions, they all sucked. thank frick for MAME
Battletoads. Frick that shit.
FF8
Donkey Kong Jr.
This was a fricked up game. Mario enslaved his father and everyone pretends it never happened. If Nintendo had any guts they would address this issue.
I'd say after raping Pauline, Donkey Kong Sr. got what was coming to him.
Is that why Mario dumped Pauline for Peach? Because Pauline was damaged goods?
Never cried to a game.
But the Pokemon episode where Pikachu is about to leave Ash made me cry like a liitle b***h.
Nothin', because I'm a big man and I don't cry at NOTHIN'. Except Mary-Kate & Ashley: Get a Clue on the gameboy, when they got home in time for dinner at the end was just too much to bear
FF6 opera scene. It was beautiful.
For me I don't think anything comes close to this. Distant second place is Mother 3's ending.
Not cried but I found the FM1 twist and ending pretty sad, despite the characters and the twist itself being pretty simple.
The intro is quite sad too

Going through 2 right now, definitely feels more like a proper sequel to 1 compared to 3 in terms of atmosphere. What a great series.
luv that carrion crows reunite at the end tho.

When I got blocked off mid-game because one essential fetch quest required me to write something in japanese language. Thank god for gamefaqs.
Terranigma
Terranigma balls
I would say Klonoa and Link's Awakening
Which part? For me it was the resurrection scenes and the ending.
Kingdom Hearts 2
animal crossing gcn cause my b***h moved away
ttyd because i realized id never read new dialogue from goombella, vivian, or koopa ever again

chip chan kick made my peenus weenus cry
Phantasy Star IV ending
FFX

None. GC Animal Crossing's Bluebear made me feel a little warm and fuzzy. I've been dead to everything else.
didn't cry but it's sad as frick
DQV when you go back to your kingdom and talk to Sancho.
MGS3 the ending enough said.
FFV when good ol Galuf dies saving his granddaughter.

earthworm jim's escort level makes me regret even looking at a video game
Mother 3. Big massive tears. Sobbing even.
>Claus...
>You aren't Porky's robot.
>You're our son!
>Come to your mother...
>You must be so exhausted.

Sorry, it was "Spirit of the Nigh"
>feels
just about every jrpg has this.
it feels like a cliche, but it always gets ya.
sneaky and quick like a shart.
The part that gets me the most is that it was almost at the very beginning of the game and there was still more 'feels' scene to come.
I swear, that game brought out the budding weeaboo in me.
>I'm gonna miss that voice
