I dunno something about Mario Odyssey I found really weightless and boring. I had just played SM64 for the first time a month before Odyssey released and that quickly became one of my favourite games.
Mario games biggest problem is if you are too good at them the level design falls apart. Odyssey decided that instead of making lots of hard late game challenges, they'd litter the game with easy moons. If you can do a double horizontal hat leap, the game basically breaks. I loved odyssey but I wanted more challenges that pushed what Mario's move set could do.

Odyssey was underwhelming. It wasn't bad, but it was nowhere near as fun as Galaxy.
The whole possessing enemies gimmick was incredibly underused. Here's an obstacle Mario can't get past, here's a respawning enemy that has the ability to get past that obstacle, posses it, get past it, then move on.
That was 95% of all possessions. There was no creativity, no puzzle solving, no interesting choice.
Mario Odyssey being no masterpiece stems from its ludonarrative dissonance,a conundrum of forced soul and wholesome moments that feels fake, unauthentic and rude to its audience. It's a game destined to age like fine milk.

i recently play it, and it was just like a farcry game, the map full with shitty things to do
3d world was better
It's better than Tech Demo 64 and Snorlaxy
