Shame it's basically stuck on the DS still. The Switch version looks and sounds amazing but they butchered the gameplay so much I couldn't get past the first week.
>Maybe one day somebody will do this game justice.
I dont get what you mean. Its one of many games that could only really work on a ds/3ds system, and its still there, AND it gets a remake on a system, even if its not as good. What else could they possibly do to make you happy?
>Its one of many games that could only really work on a ds/3ds system, and its still there
That's kinda the problem, though. It's a relic of a bygone era only properly experienced on decades-old consoles, which are increasingly rarer and inaccessible, and there will likely never again be a device that truly replicates that sort of gameplay. It's true of the broader DS/3DS library as a whole, but TWEWY is such a gem that it hurts a bit harder.
It's great that it got a resurgence of attention and popularity so many years after release, but the experience of playing the game as it was originally designed is being lost to time.
Emulators exist of course, but mouse and keyboard hardly compares either.
I think anon was complaining less about what Square Enix could do better for the game's legacy, and more just the fact that it's kind of impossible for an idealized treatment of the game to exist...
As someone who beat it recently after wanting it for so long & started this thread, yes it was essentially made to be experienced as you said.
I hope it gets a proper remake like NEO, though they'd have to tinker with the partner system to make it work. I doubt we'll ever hear from this series again though outside of crossovers
Honestly outside of the protagonist being "see no evil" I don't know how a 3rd one would work.
The Tsugumi storyline we never got to see. There's a lot of shit they left on the table between TWEWY and NEO. I think one of the creators said they were interested in making a game about it but I doubt it'll ever happen.
They don't have to copy the gameplay 1-1, you can make it work on the Switch that has a touch screen and motion controls on the joycons. You just need to get creative and make the gameplay fun, instead they just made it feel like shit in both touch mode and joycon mode. Like, at least let me control neku's movement with the dpad if I'm already using the joycon. It's in excusable.
>but they butchered the gameplay so much I couldn't get past the first week.
It's unironically pretty fun if you enable co-op and dock both joycons, essentially making you control both players at the same time. It's hard to get used to but it's the only way to play the Switch port without it being a completely bastardized version of the original.
I did this, and this was the closest to the real experience because the entire idea of TWEWY is controlling two characters at the same time, which is something they didn't even try to do and the co-op mode being fun to play alone was just a fluke.

This could also work. Move the assests, story and music and give the gameplay a modern touch up, find a good solution to the partner system and let it roll. The Switch port isn't just a bad port, it's insultingly bad.

anytime i talk to neo fans, they're always raving the sequel like it's way better than the original and that i'm just blinded by nostalgia despite me playing them both for the first time back to back.... (yes i played TWEWY on the DS as intended)
I personally love NEO way more than I did the original TWEWY. I love how it handled status ailments, the party system, the multiple hit states, and the more subtle character writing.
[...] >multiple party building mechanics >customization out the ass in regards to Neku- you can make him a gunner, a straight up swordsman, a mix of both, or more >status ailments >little sidequests >not an RPG
Okay, dumbass.
[...]
I don’t necessarily think that it’s better but I think it has different strengths compared to the original.

Wrong, you are a Black personhomosexual.

Maybe one day somebody will do this game justice.
Emulation exists but I get your point.

That would be interesting.
Also i hate getting banned for shit I didn't do no matter if its temporary.

am i the only anon that found the sequel lacking? it's a lot like ff7r fans where everyone tells me the "remake/sequel" is better but it's not.
I think most people did. No one seemed outraged by it but it has nowhere near the same following or reverance as the first game
anytime i talk to neo fans, they're always raving the sequel like it's way better than the original and that i'm just blinded by nostalgia despite me playing them both for the first time back to back.... (yes i played TWEWY on the DS as intended)

told you

have a nice day warpiggie spammerscum
It's just the residen5 anti-jrpg schizo, pay it no mind
Any other RPGs with real-time fashion systems? With brands going in and out of style and the player getting an in-game bonus for being fashionable.
please name some rpgs for us then.
Janny troony loves to play pretend as always
Just play Alpha Protocol and realize it makes no sense to label TWEWY/NEO along side it as RPGs
That’s moronic. You’re moronic.
>he says while acting like a total homosexual
If you guys are going to start making twewy threads I'm going to stop being tolerant towards homosexuals.
