You can be a good writer and an insane activist that hates the medium at the same time. Like I have no doubt she could write a half decent novel with deep leftie slant. She's just a toxic lead story writer for vidya.
BioWare were poster child of poz but it was before Flink, they did it on their own, mostly because games with romances attracted women and BioWare was known for that in all their games
I've been here for almost 7 years now, I was there and I saw it happen. Take your revisionist homosexualry elsewhere.
Holy shit you people still think you are actually informing people talking about blackrock, if somebody doesn't know they would have asked you what you meant by ESG you don't need to tell people to look things up.
ESG is a meme anyway, woke companies do woke things because they are run by woke people, ESG is if anything a smokescreen but really it's more to do with nuclear power than anything else
BioWare were poster child of poz but it was before Flink, they did it on their own, mostly because games with romances attracted women and BioWare was known for that in all their games
they left because of EA. imagine budgeting for shit then some shit brain suit comes down and says "oh, yeah btw we won't be approving your budget that we agreed on, yeah just deal with it. we ship in 2 weeks"
>Can't pay for anything without the new brainchip >Get it installed >Sorry we have to lock your account inappropriate thoughts detected >KEK you accepted the TOS before surgery why did you think that thought?
they left because of EA. imagine budgeting for shit then some shit brain suit comes down and says "oh, yeah btw we won't be approving your budget that we agreed on, yeah just deal with it. we ship in 2 weeks"
I seriously want to see the timeline where they never got bought by EA
have no idea why they even still exist now when everyone who made the company is gone and the name means frick all
>Then one of the first user created maps that came out online was a mission which was to go to EA HQ and assassinate John Riticello
Time is a flat circle
>people can go out and make a map that says 'F**k!' They can make 'F**k' maps!" >maps where you're gunning down scores of people is totally fine though
They were always trash. Then all of a sudden they started to smell and the fans catched on, finally. Similar to what we're seeing happening to Bethesda now.
BG2 is their best work by a mile and it's overrated as frick. The actual best classic isometric RPGs are spelled Fallout, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment and, later, Arcanum.
Only game from bioware which I liked was me2. People get crazy from dao but its just "whew game of trones is kinda cool lets rip off everything off it" befor got hit mainstream with the show. I think I would have like it more if sequels were never made.
All their other games are just trash with shit writing. Comparing kotor to kotor2 is like comparing fallout3 to new vegas. It just shows how shit both kotor/f3 are.
I thought ME2 was fine "for what it was" as well because it was a okay popamole shooter and it deviated from the formula of going to four locations, picking up an item and then combining those to go to a fifth location and fight the final boss. Same reason why I thought DA2 could have been at least okay if they had gotten more dev time.
>positive opinion of me2 >thinking all that was wrong with da2 was that the devs needed more time
you're the problem and why bioware went to shit. it doesn't matter if you want to acknowledge that or not, it won't change the reality

eat shit, redditor. oh wait, you're already doing that
Firstly, you're an actual real life moron if you think arcanum is better than anything. Secondly, I know you're underage because everything from fallout 1 onwards is a MODERN crpg.

Arcanum was (and still is) great. It has great setting unlike anything else, alright story, incredible character creation and serviceable everything else. Genuinely frick off with your terrible opinions.

>incredible character creation
It has terrible character creation, none of the actual stats or mechanics even interact with anything properly, it's all an idea that boils down to poorly implemented snake oil, its like saying morrowind has good character creation, so all that's left here by your admittance is you personally like the very mediocre and immature fantasy spin of the industrial era, which is a vapid and moronic reason to claim a game is the "best" of anything, unsurprising coming from a psuedointellectual room temp IQ black isle cultist. Bet you live in a third world shithole and aren't educated beyond a high school diploma.

Arcanum backgrounds are incredible

The backgrounds have no reflection in-game, other than the starting mechanics, with the exception of "Frankenstein's Monster".

Let's be real, Arcanum craters after Tarant and the only peak after is the Half-Ogre island conspiracy.
Also if the game needs fan mods to fix it, it's inherently not a good game.

Okay, now you're just being moronic on purpose. How's RPG Codex these days? I left that place ten years ago.
They need to do it. And it's mandatory for them once a new game is released. >this new entry is actually good, not like previous old games that are janky and didn't have X and Y (they actually had X but since they never played the game, they don't know)
They made the same game like 5 times in a row and made it gayer each time.
If you actually payed any attention to the devs, you'd know they were always left leaning. They were all fricking leafs. The only real thing that happened was they kept on casualizing and trying to go the way of Final Fantasy has been going making their rpgs less and less rpgs over time and the writers leaving or getting worse.
OG's left, studio was sold to a flaming LGBT activist, diversity hires

Kind of this, I mean David Gaider was a lead writer on not only BG2 but the majority of Bioware games throughout the 2000s. In my true opinion the writing stayed pretty solid up until Dragon Age and to a lesser extent Ass Effect, while the systems and RPG mechanics got more anemic.
She's just a symptom, not the cause. I always laugh when i remember that when some patreon game announced that ham helper would join the the writing team, the donations completely dried off, killing the game in the process after it failed to reach its goal.
BG3 makes me mad. Not because of Larian or the game itself but because of Bioware and EA.
Fricking hell, we could've had 2 or 3 more Dragon Ages since Inquisition if those idiots got their shit together.
To me the Dragon Age franchise just feels like BioWare have no clue what to do with it and are winging every game, and that's besides all the other obvious problems that are happening with them as a studio right now.
I didn't say it was their first gay game. I said it was where the ESG rot first became visible. Look up Blackrock.
>first became visible
Oh you make me laugh, underage.
>there are people here unironically blaming “ESG”
My god you guys are new and moronic, it’s because fricking EA acquired them, that’s what they do they wring studios dry in the pursuit of profit
Look at all the election tourists, swarming this board like wienerroaches

I haven't bought an EA game since Mass Effect 2. Bioware is an awful, awful company now. Gone are the days of Baldur's Gate and KOTOR. Obsidian isn't much better nowadays, either, but at least they still try to make RPG's instead of whatever the frick Anthem was supposed to be. EA ruins everything it touches, and so does Activision, and Squeenix, and Ubisoft, and every other AAA publisher. Bethesda used to be an exception but lately the only good thing they've published were the new DOOM games by id Software. Everything sucks and we're a decade late on a new video game industry collapse. How the frick it's gone on this long is beyond it.
Truth is they were never good. They just got lucky with the Baldur's Gate and Star Wars licenses. Back when they made their Star Wars game you had a period of many years of average at best SW video games. That sixth gen was a special time for the franchise because suddenly the best SW games were getting released and Bioware was simply a part of that boom period for the franchise.
Bioware has been coasting on luck and perception for way too long.
They always made poorly written slop, only back when you played it you were an impressionable teenager.
BG1 and 2 weren't particularly good, just masking it with size and scope.
BG1 was pretty revolutionary crpg, all things considered, especially on the technical and gameplay side, making a half decent live action DnD port. BG2 is where the corruption of the genre in the form of "romance" really began in full.
In that sense, IWD1 and 2 and even P:T are better spiritual successors to BG than BG2 is.
Don't get me wrong, BG2 is a phenomanal game for it's cultural impact and all that, but in technical terms it's just a massive "Expansion/DLC" for BG1 with dragon sprites and romance novels lite.
They started having incorrect priorities being set from the EA's pressing to release new games which conform to arbitrary corpo parameters like having x amount of pygmys with rainbow hair per square inch regardless of if pygmy with rainbow hair being there making sense or not
success made them attractive to capitalism and capitalism ruined them as it inevitably does, and since the gaming industry lacks regulation, it did it in record time.
Ea got involved really that's it they destroy and frick up almost everything they touch. The closest they have done to actually doing something good for the industry is ea originals and Its already on the downturn i give it a few years before that shits the bed as well
People will talk about them becoming woke but it's all about the fact they got bought by EA.
Bioware got an offer from EA which they refused, so EA bought their parent company to own them by default.
If Bioware were still independent, they'd still be the kings of making WRPGs. Probably woke leaning but definitely better then whatever the frick they turned into.
Doubt it, the IPs were still there like always. EA is also interested in them being successful and making them money.
So some EA executive went around and told Bioware to make Mass Effect Andromeda and turn all female characters into hideous atrocities? Kind of doubt it.
>Bioware got an offer from EA which they refused, so EA bought their parent company to own them by default.
Yeah, people tend to forget Bioware REFUSED to get bought out by EA. If anything that alone was to their credit.
I think EA will never kill off Bioware because they made them their designated RPG studio but it's full of gays and amateurs so all the output they make is mediocre at best, mind-boggingly bad and mismanaged at worst..
EA did a number on that shit just like with everything else they touch
The next DA project has so many people leaving, returning and leaving for good that I'm kind of excited to see how bad a BW game can get
I mean people leaving a game studio is normal but not mid-project and not so many.
Honestly frick them, WRPGs never progressed past the Bioware style of writing
And watching the nu devs try to emulate it like in Andromeda or Inquisition is painful
Are bioware even that good? I've played neverwinter nights and ME 1-3, they're fine i suppose. Shadows of Undrentide was pretty good and I almost got over the shitty rtwp combat.
What about Dragon Age?
Honestly they stopped being OG Bioware the second they took Microsoft money to make Xbox exclusives.
Microsoft and later EA just made them focus on more console oriented gameplay overtime, which eventually lead to their titles just being action games to appeal to normies.
unironically, letting women into the dev teams, the downfall of every male centric hobby can be directly attributed to women being in leadership roles and trying to ruin it from the inside.
OGs left. newbies stayed.
OG's left, studio was sold to a flaming LGBT activist, diversity hires
This
This
And this.
Also EA.
I remember when the ESG shit first popped up with Mass Effect 3 and the gay crew members.
moron.
It's that or they hired the tumblr morons like hambugler.
Hambulgler wrote the best part of Dragon Age: Origins - the Dwarven Origin and the Orzammar storyline.
You can be a good writer and an insane activist that hates the medium at the same time. Like I have no doubt she could write a half decent novel with deep leftie slant. She's just a toxic lead story writer for vidya.
And what exactly did she write with a leftist slant?
I've been here for almost 7 years now, I was there and I saw it happen. Take your revisionist homosexualry elsewhere.
So that makes you at least 7 years old then.
If you think ME3 was the first of BioWare's gay games you're extremely underage.

BioWare were poster child of poz but it was before Flink, they did it on their own, mostly because games with romances attracted women and BioWare was known for that in all their games
Even the sacred cow that is Planescape had romances, I don't really get the whine
Anon BioWare made lesbian Jedi and gay vendors all the way back in 2003
They were bad.
What the fricking frick?! Hahahaha
>single player game

how was cortez cowardly and dumb???
they got bought by EA
lost soul
EA but also maybe having people contribute heavily to a title then proceeding to dip afterwards wasn't the best idea
they left because of EA. imagine budgeting for shit then some shit brain suit comes down and says "oh, yeah btw we won't be approving your budget that we agreed on, yeah just deal with it. we ship in 2 weeks"

failed to realize the genius potential in neverwinter nights
Nwn is timeless. First picked it up when I had a crt monitor, put it down, picked up again in 2020, completed it 2 times and played every class.
They were always trash. Then all of a sudden they started to smell and the fans catched on, finally. Similar to what we're seeing happening to Bethesda now.

Founders sold out and left
Jennifer "Hamburger" helper happened.
She's just a symptom, not the cause. I always laugh when i remember that when some patreon game announced that ham helper would join the the writing team, the donations completely dried off, killing the game in the process after it failed to reach its goal.
Good thing they died but they left a huge mark on western games, now most game have that shitty bioware rpg element and cringy sex scene
i think FE and persona are way more responsible for waifu dating sims.
I dont know what FE stands for and ive never even heard of Persona. Get the frick out of here idiot
ive never heard of most bioware games. why do you think this obscure dev is to blame for cringe sex scenes?
>ive never heard of most bioware games
thats because you are 12, zoomer. Reported
If you're on Ganker you're legally obligated by law to know at least the names of games even if you never played them.
They wanted the call of duty audience

looks like I upset the shills again
Do you see me saying anything in any sort of support of bioware, the part of your post I was mocking was "look up blackrock"
yeah ok bro here have a (you)
Imagine if they kept making them like DAO, gameplay and writing wise. That would have been nice.
It’s EA. They acquired them, so BioWare was beholden to their expectations and demand for greater sales
That is the one and only answer, anything else is wrong
>there are people here unironically blaming “ESG”

THEY WERE ALWAYS BAD!!! THEY ALWAYS MADE SLOPPY SLOP SLOP FOR SHABBOS GOYIM AND IF YOU THINK OTHERWISE YOUR AN UNDERAGE ZOOMTARD
Do you work for BioWare or something?
This but unironically
Me was good but 3rd installation retroactively made it complete shit
gates weren't kept
