The system used to reward you for using more moves but then people ended up doing spammy ineffecient meme combos to farm points. Now it's more about doing overkills.

i'm talking about unlocking moves by gaining XP, which is a progression system. which would be fine if you actually got to keep said moves without having to unlock them 5 times over.
any action game fan knows that unlocking new moves is one of the most fun thing in the genre, taking away unlocked moves in contrast is the least fun thing i can possibly imagine

No. Each skill has a progress bar of size one. Each time you unlock it or pay to progress it towards permanent unlocking. The progress bar increase of one. You never lose the progress in your progress bar. So you have to pay 5 times each skills and it's there forever.

I thought I'd love it but so much about it feels off. The animations don't read well but require pretty specific counters and timings. And the attacks just feel like you're in a slap-fight until you get a finisher. Just an odd feeling game but maybe you grow to enjoy it the more you play it.
If you feel like you didnt do well enough on the first level, feel free to restart it because the worse you do at the start, the less chances youll have later on and once you feel comfortable with only like 2 or three deaths on it you can probably move on. youre going to be gimped at the start anyway because you wont have bought enough stuff, enough times to permanently unlock it anyway- as opposed to being on the last level with everything unlocked and only 2 years remaining

I think it's more fun to move on to the next stage and keep playing, as long as the age is still low enough. Just to see the next stage, as a new player. You can always return to the previous stage and do it better if you need more leeway to finish the next stage.

NTA but once you know how to duck dodge and have the boss patterns down it's really not that hard to whomp everything in the game at 20, especially with all the shortcuts/skips.
I'm neither of those two posters, but I've also nearly done it. I can get to the 5th stage at 23 or so. The final boss is the hardest part of an age 20 run. For me in the earlier stages the only parts that still cause me trouble are the boss Kuroki in the museum (her 2nd phase only), and some mob fights in stage 4, sometimes the stage 4 boss as well.
My Sifu playtime is like 30 hours. It's quite doable with enough practice.
