Government mandated goyslop: the game
why oh why did the Rhode Island state legislature think this studio was a good investment of public funds?
re-regret
mediocre offline mmo you'll get bored of in under 10 hours
Soullessness
this tbh
the guy who made the game was some already rich baseball player who loved games and RPGs and hired his favorite fantasy fiction author to write the story. I think the soul was there, just overshadowed by incompetence
This I've tried doing a playthrough of it like three time now but get bored and drop it after a few hours. It's just way too easy even on the highest difficulty and quite repetitive.
give me the real reckoning game
Single player MMO slop. Refund
the best 6/10 game you'll ever play
>buy game thinking its Gankercore
>suddenly everyone hates it
Did I just get memed on?
Yeah it's got an interesting setting but the gameplay is pretty repetitive and the story is generic.
Don't listen to these trannies
Discord trannies have flooded the board since BG3 release it's a plague really
You should never listen to others opinions anyway, trust your intuition.
What do you think will be better, a woke israelite-sponsored ccp-sponsored crpg made by blue haired women full of trannies for midwit redditor trannies (bg3), or a kino non-woke action rpg made by straight white males?
They hate this game because it's one of the few woke-free.
Trust your intuition man
>since BG3
>Discord trannies have flooded the board since BG3 release it's a plague really
BG3 really mindbroke the jeets
>What do you think will be better
Neither. You trying to put BG3 and Kingdoms of Amalur as 2 sides that you have to pick between is such a brown-skinned maneuver.
Kingdoms of Amalur, I’ve never played that game either, but I got it free with PS Plus like 2 years ago. I keep thinking of playing it. If I remember correctly, this is the game made by Kurt Schillings studio? Kurt Schilling was a pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, won one (or a few) World Series with them, one was that huge win in like 2004 when it was the first time in 100 years Boston won a World Series and broke the curse of the Bambino. He’s a huge video game fan, he took all his baseball millions and started a game studio and made this game.
So I’m remembering that correctly, based on the story alone, you and me have got to play this. That is unironically SVOL. This dude could have retired a multi-millionaire baseball god, but instead he put all his money and passion into making 1 (one) RPG video game, because he tucking loves games. That’s romantic as frick boy.
he put his money into making only 1 game because it was a failure and the studio went out of business
I know that. But why does that matter? Does his passion project and game studio failing make it any less soulful and romantic? This is a man’s passion in digital form. He could have gotten fat and smoked cigars with a World Series ring. Instead, he got to work, created a game studio out of thin air, and put his entire life savings behind it. You probably didn’t even wash your balls today.
the game being extremely boring and generic makes it less soulful and romantic.
Well like I said, I haven’t played it yet after all these years, and I only have it because of PS Plus. HOWEVER… I feel like I would be some kind of unfeeling monster if I didn’t shed one manly tear over that kind of passion for art. Any kind of art. But especially this one in particular, because it’s a video game, and you just don’t hear stories like this. This game represents a singular story in the history of video games. I love the story, I must admit.
ok then create a cult narrative around this game that you have never played because Ganker is full of contrarians. that's not hypocritical at all.
Ganker shits on everything while the more focused and less shitposty boards regularly sing it's praise. Dunno what else I'm supposed to take away from that.
>passion for art
It takes from already existing tropes and fails to innovate. Game plays like a sales pitch to a wall street investment fund.
This. the story of this game is pretty much what would happen if a random anon on Ganker won the lottery and blew it all on making his dream game.
>he took all his baseball millions
didnt this game got funded by government or something, forgot the story
when has anyone praised this game here? you’re calling it Gankercore like it always has a thread up or being mentioned.
Maybe you can start making daily threads about the game? Does that sound like something you can handle? Can I count on you?
It gets much better reception on /vg/ and /vrpg/ so it's probably good, Ganker is once again proving to be a hive of cynical contrarians.
It had slick combat with dope animations, that's about it. Plot, exploration, questing, balance - all trash. Someone thought it'd be a good idea to have a crafting skill tree that gives you best in slot equipment from common materials, in a game with free unlimited respec.
They also advertised how original their fantasy world is, but it's all the same dwarfs, elves and halflings, just with stupid fricking names.
I love this game
Ganker is not one person, anon, always remember this, always.
I rented that game around the time it came out, i remember having fun with it and a few story bits but nothing really standing out
I liked it. I even 100%'d it on Steam. However, I couldn't tell you anything about the game, other than one DLC was about a pirate island and the other had a floating city. The game had some card system I like where you got bonuses from doing certain quests.
Cool game. The area scaling issues and stash space limit was fixed. The entire thing has been balanced from scratch. Sadly mods are broken, and not looking like they will be updated. Such a shame. It's a solid 8.
A single player mmorpg with fun combat
Only played the original but loved it.
Pros: story, setting, dialog, upgrades feel noticable
Cons: repetitive combat, not enough puzzles for a single player
Like others said it's shit but you can have fun. Virtually no info online about it. If you play on hard difficulties it increases the item level of the world making you far more likely to find legendary items. Also balance is all over the place and managing health feels like shit unless you spec the heal spell.
A boring piece of shit
I'm playing it rn, it's a pretty generic fantasy rpg. Graphics and art design make it feel comfy and cozy. Would recommend if you're looking for something chill to play.
Singleplayer mmo, the worst kind of trash imaginable
A waste of public funding: the game
I remember getting to the final area and just running past all of the enemies straight to the final boss because combat just felt kinda pointless and repetitive at that point
isn't this the game that got cancelled because Aragorn rapes some dyke in it?
sp mmo with fun combat variety, fun world building and danny elfman style music. It's nothing groundbreaking but i's a solid B game.
Would love a sequel
A bang on average game
I enjoyed it back when it first released and had no clue about it being a prequel or whatever for the planned MMO they wanted to make
changing your class to Uninstall Wizard within the first hour
