What am I in for? Grabbed it for three bucks.
Got tired of from soft hardcore games and I want something more laid back and less stressful.

pod activation bs and some rng
oh and some impossible time limits sometimes yeah
>time limit in a turn based tactical game
Are you shitting me? At least the time limit isn't active when I'm thinking of my next move right? Right?
turn limit
Jeez thanks god for that.
I love to walt around going back and forth smoking and drinking coffee while the game waits for my next move. It's like I'm a king on the backlines with my army and generals waiting patiently for my orders as I do whatever the frick I want.
You can always find mods that remove the turn limits on missions or the Avatar Project if you really want a laid back game. Then the only thing you gotta worry about is the rng and your gear.
It's only some missions and it's actually a turn limit not a time limit.
You could say there is a time limit between missions but that is like 30 real life days of just leave the game on do absolutely nothing
Nah you have all the time in the world for that.
Also, if you’re fricked, don’t YOLO shit. If two guys are dead and you’re thinking “maybe I can still pull it off”? Frick you. You can’t. Extract and take the L and live to fight another day. In x-com you’re going to lose sometimes.
Unless you save scum, but that’s for b***hes.
Also, when you’re ready, legendary doubles all research and development times, as well as the schedule for enemy deployments. It’s a battle of attrition, doing more with less, and it’s a completely different game. And it’s amazing and still fair but you need to be damned smart. Make it far enough and you’ll still win.
My man get ready for
>Miss
>Miss
>Miss
>Your squad mate gets one shot
>Run out of turns
>Game over
Over and over again. I tried real hard to like the game but it's just more frustrating than it's worth IMHO.
room temp iq buddy?
you literally never miss. thats one of the games main problems.
filtered by an easy game tsk tsk
ayy lmao
No fricking way man
Luck is always on my side so not a problem
i wouldn't call it laid back
Well… laid back and less stressful is not the x-com way.
Play it with war of the chosen, mourn your men when you get attached and they die horribly. Awesome game.
>I want something more laid back and less stressful
Ohh boy
Play it on easy, do yourself the favor then
If you want more laid back and less stressful:
- Play War of the Chosen
- Download cosmetic/voice mods
- Download the "Overwatch All" and "Extract All" mods
- Download the mod that removes The Lost from the game
- Don't play on Commander/Legend difficulty
- Don't play with "Ironman" enabled
- Don't integrate DLC missions and turn on "Alien Hunters" to get cool gear (and to stop Alien Hunters from showing up randomly, until you're ready)
You need to integrate the dlc to stop the alien rulers from showing up on your missions randomly with WOTC. Integrated dlc means the alien rulers will become guards in some advent facilities, but they will only start chasing you when you attack their respective facility, and that is of course if they survive the attack. Not integrating the dlc will still have the alien active, and after a set amount of time (i forgot how much) they will start hunting you down randomly on all your missions.
Also, playing on commander is how the game should be imo, and the remove lost mod seems lame. Otherwise good tips.
You're right about integrating the dlc, I fumbled my words there. Thanks for the correction, hopefully OP didn't find out the hard way
I agree about Commander being ideal but OP asked for less stress and Commander requires a lot more focus and knowledge. Also the Lost are a timesink that aren't challenging, they extend mission time and are overall tedious due to their constant numbers and cutscene intros. I'd rather replace their missions with anything else
Yeah, I suppose commander would be less stressful. Also, I agree with the lost sometimes going overboard in missions when they keep spawning and spawning, but removing them would remove lost missions no? Thats just a part of the game I think. Up to op I suppose. With luck we can get the resistance card that one shots all lost too.
>Download the mod that removes The Lost from the game
>Don't play on Commander/Legend difficulty
>Don't play with "Ironman" enabled
...What the frick am I reading? Are you moronic? Three-way clusterfricks on Legend Ironman are literally peak XCOM.
The Lost make the engine shit itself most of the time, that's the issue.
I wouldn't say this is the game to play for something more laid back and less stressful. Its basically an arms race against the aliens with missions having turn limits. Although the rush is not as bad as you would think, there's a bunch of ways to delay the main objective. Don't play on the super hard difficulties and you can definitely achieve a more laid back run. My main advice is that you shouldn't be afraid to just retreat and say frick that if things go real bad.
Post the xcom viper pastebin
>I want something more laid back and less stressful.
who's gonna tell him
Anyways, don't put your soldiers close together, spread them accordingly
Flank aliens every time you get a chance
Swallow your pride and play on rookie
Don't get very attached to your soldiers because it'll be very painful if they died
why is alien made up of skull????
Aliens = death
It's very subtle
It's basically the plot.
Wouldn't you wear the skulls of your enemies as armor if you could?
no that's mean.
Ay lmaos genocide humans to make better ayy lmaos
It's a metaphor. It will make sense later.
>Brings tech
>Brings burgers
>Brings an entire race of all-female aliens with a crush on humans
>Still depicted as the bad guys
Why is XCOM like this
Blame aliens for not giving viper wife to citizens with high social credit.
Elders = israelites
Vipers = asian women (good at ensnaring white men)
Sectoids = asian men
Mutons = blacks
Berserkers = feminists
Archons = journalists (look good but really just mindless attack dogs)
Advent = good goyim brainwashed white liberals
does this game have sex mods and how good are they
>more laid back and less stressful
Thats what xcom isn't
Great game. I've been playing it since release with intervals thanks to mods.
I recommend playing without mods for the first time and being more active.
Well I haven't much of a choice since I'm stuck on cucksoles.
recruit characters from other games to aid you
>download a million voice mods and character models
>storm alien bases with big smoke, walter white, barack obama and michael jackson
yeah, I'm thinking kino
For me, it's a squad of 6 dudes (postal)
for me it's the half life combine units and titanfall mechs.
My homies
Making the game a clusterfrick of various crossovers and random shit is the patrician way
>tfw downloaded the Dante, Vergil, and Nero voice packs and outfits, and the 9S voice pack and outfit
Sons of Sparda Squad, or Team White Hair.
I spend way more time in postmission photomode goofing around with these dudes than i would like to admit
They gave you it to do just that, feel not shame but elation.
Oh i am feeling it alright
I downloaded the ODST pack so I can just gaslight myself into thinking it's another ODST game.
Xcom2 is based. It is all about overthrowing israelites and their Black person henchmen and good goyim.
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed these themes. It's a story about opposing a dystopian one world government that seems to have you hopelessly outmatched and wants to eliminate the human race as we know it by essentially racemixing them with aliens. Central sounds like Alex Jones at times too.
the most casual normie press turn game from the past decade.
OG xcom shits all over but enjoy your unreal engine jank i guess.
don't customize your characters
don't get attached
Best class mods?
Just save them so they live forever in your character pool.
I've been using this one for the main four classes, makes them a lot more fun and involved.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1707653796
Also got a couple of mods for SPARKS to get them up to what they should be.
It's odd how a dlc class had more negatives than positives.
I can see what Firaxis was going for, but they didn't go far enough into those ideas. Thank god for modders.
I have never had any problems with the turn limit missions.
RPG Overhaul with every class mod you can find.
>RPG Overhaul
I've tried it several times and haven't figured out how it even works.
Weird, it was out of the box-good for me save for some jank.
It's really fricking fun though. I love having a samurai tank and a necromancer with a chaingun in one squad.
Every time I tried it I had an insane amount of settings and options and the perk selection had an insane amount of stuff.
Isn't that exactly what it's supposed to do?
You just have all the perks from all classes in one unified Soldier class and build it how you want, mixing abilities
You can set limiters to it, I set the limit to 3 perk decks per char, so I don't have to scroll like through 20 of them to get the skills I want, also forces me to envision what I want this guy to be.
Hello, everyone, my name is Markiplier and welcome back to XCom 2: War of the Chosen.
Reminder that the ayys are the good guys
>2
a bad time
2's fricking awful and the turn limits dont help either
it was way overpriced for a long time too, it was still $90 plus DLC like 8 years after its release
Nice Ironman run you have there. Be a shame if anything happened to it.
Oh no! Anyway.
>deep into Legend Ironman, on a mission I absolutely have to win
>Sewers
>Hunter warps in and starts fricking my shit up
>slowly chipping me down with his bleeding effect
>indestructible high cover means I can't really do shit to him
>best soldier will bleed out next turn if I don't finish him off
>slowly realizing I didn't have to absolutely win the mission at all but now I really am fricked
>don't even have a shot on him
>all out of options
>all out of hope
>unless...
>Reaper throws a claymore down on the floor, Templar runs on top of it, teleport-switches places with the Hunter, shoots it with the autopostol, rest of the squad are now flanking him and finish him off that turn
KINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
HOW MANY OF YOU SLIMEY FRICKERS ARE IN THERE
Always hated that modifier.
Download Claus enemy mods, Even more Robots, LEB Lategame Enemies, and Eldar Raider Faction. You'll be real chill.
this game especially with the expansion pack is very stressful since they constantly are throwing new shit at you
it's fun though
mission going so easily he took a nap in the middle of it
XCOM died again with Chimera Squad
Chimera Squad is good
I unironically love these chatty edgelords
I'd love them too if they weren't immune to everything fun. If I'm a lucky loser and roll a "frick you" crit their shouldn't even be ashes left.
Don't you love when they get an upgrade that completely negates their weaknesses?
I've never personally experienced that but it sounds like hell.
If I remembered as an example, one of the chosen was weak to both melee and Templars, then they got an upgrade that negates melee damage.
I think what the chosen are weak to is random as well. Once I got the assassin with "deal damage three times for bonus" and once I got the assassin with "explosives deal bonus".
Yeah. They are random.
>Weakness: Templars
>Strength: Immune to melee damage
Guess I'll auto-pistol you to death then.
I'd never once hit a shot with an auto pistol. Damn shame.
>weaknesses: reapers and explosions
>tries to take cover behind a car
Oh you poor poor chosen fool.
Remote Start might be one of the most fun abilities ever.
>take reaper
>get sewer level.
Still useful. Sewer missions are fricking obnoxious with all the line of sight traps you'll run into. Reaper scouting can usually nullify that.
Psi OP with Fuse is a close second.
>get Hunter with weaknesses to explosions and Reapers
>shows up in a mission and gets onto one of those two-story gas tanks with a platform on top
>my Reaper with Remote Start is in a nearby building
>heh heh heh
Didn't even see the Hunter's health bar appear or where he landed, fricker just evaporated.
I always kill the katana b***h first and the Hunter last.
I usually kill hunter first, that sniper rifle is too fricking good.
Hell yes, especially when you've got Death From Above and a grappling-equipped armor.
True enough. I just hated the assassin because I tend to bunker down in an area and she always fricked with that, by attacking then running off screen.
>an xcom thread without a single viper post
Allow me to ruin that.
It's fun farming skill points off of them, especially when the dark event that makes them appear more often is in effect and I have Trial by Fire.
xcom2 and its enemy unknown was all a dream killed the franchise for me
they can stick their dream up their arse
But Anon isn't flying around in the Avenger being a member of the resistance REALLY COOL?!
When will they reveal themselves publicly?
Ranger + Icarus Armor + Katana + Reaper
get FRICKED ayys
Literally baldurs gate 3 but better and in space
starts fun ends up pretty boring with loads of unskippable delays in gameplay even with the mods. I recommend long war after you get tired of vanilla.
Remember to install mods to even the odds and make the game more fun.
Which nude mod is that?
Barebare https://www.dropbox.com/sh/5tqeda55k6klb4d/AABJny8qmvVz3UB3YV1A0jWWa?dl=0
Another thing I hate about the game. WAY too much random shit. Randomly troops get broken abilities, trooper IQ, phobia gains. I understand random stuff in combat, but why would I keep a soldier doesn't random gen into a one man army?
>Assassin drops two weapons specifically for Ranger
>Hunter drops two weapons specifically for Sharpshooter
>Warlock drops one generic weapon Specialists, PSI Ops, and Rookies can use
>Grenadier gets dick all
Really wish Firaxis had put the fourth tech/explosive Chosen and the cyborg Resistance faction into the game instead of rushing it out to release.
Grenadiers don't need Chosen weapons
All the classes should have gotten at least one Chosen weapon. A grenade launcher with a special bonus would have been awesome.
>lost mission going breasts up
>losing firefight, about to be overrun
>blow up fire escapes
>retreat into some wagie's apartment
>have a last stand in some guy's living room
>push back out and retake positions at the windows
>wipe up the remaining ayyys and lost in the streets below
I'm sorry lost missions I KNEEL
>start game
>game has time limits
>game has expendable soldiers.
>game in general is teaching you to just see how it goes.
>Game REWARDS you sometimes, things are just fare enough.
>lusting after snake women
>lusting after berserker mutons
>lusting after aliens
>bradford i miss your cool sweater from xcom enemy unknown when you were such a sweet young man.
In general dont get down if you lose. Let yourself play and learn, you will have fun i promise if you just raw dog it like a moron and try to figure things out.
Remember when shit fricks up, when you miss a 99% chance to hit think to yourself "that's xcom baby"
>slowly flies over to you
>starts a buggy cutscene
>slowly flies out of sight
>shadow soldier takes a move
Can we speed it up fellas?
>Triggers all your overwatches, making them all useless
What an butthole.
How about FRICK YOU instead?
xcom 2 with dlcs is a completely differenct beast than how i remembered it when i played back at launch
Postan' photos of my most clutch Ranger and Grenadier
interesting face paint...
Sir that is not face paint it is cum, she is the Commander's pet.
Was great for 20 hours, but started crashing all the damn time, and a huge difficulty spike. Some missions were literally impossible without cheating
homie grabbed XCOM 2 for 3 bucks, meanwhile I checked yesterday to see how much the DLC is and everything including the base game is at full price. Frick me for missing the sale. I wanna try the new DLC, haven't played since launch.
F to all the sparks that died horribly before reaching their third promotion.
Lost a spark the other day in a legendary ironman campaign after a sectoid mind controlled by skirmisher while my whole squad was packed together 1 move from the evac point
I forgot that my skirmisher had retribution and electric claws. I tried to move my spark to kill the sectoid to free the skirmisher and he hit him with a melee attack which stunned him for 2 turns.
Went from almost being a flawless mission to losing half my squad and the whole campaign a bit later. Was one of the worst feeling losses I've ever had in this game.
>$3
Where
IsThereAnyDeal says its 2.69 on fanatical, though that's just the base game
does the dlc go on sale?
is this the worst game cover ever made? holy shit this shit triggers
that's one of the best game covers there are, what are you on?
I played ironman blindand my squad got absolutely fricked up on the mission where you defend the base or the ship or whatever. then i quit the game, lol. I pirated it so i wasnt very invested.
>Buys games without knowing anything about it
>Guys please tell me what the game is like before I play it I NEED MY OPINION SPOONFED TO ME BEFORE I PLAY IT PLEASE PLEASE OH PLEASE.
kys
Serious, whens the last time you had pussy?
Play on easy at first
Prioritize the first upgrade of weapons then armor then do the 'critical' or 'urgent' or whatever (as they advance the plot
Doing one mission once the avatar project maxes out and the timer beings to you losing resets it so don't worry about that
I sure as frick hope you got the WOTC expansion
Absolute newbie here, what game should I play first?
The only similar kind of game I played before was commandos 2 for a few missions. kek
>"I suppose that's one way to approach a problem you can't solve, just build a machine do it for yo-ACK"
This is not a laid back game I'll tell you that. I guess you could play it on lowest difficulty baby mode and make it that way, but the challenging nature of xcom where you're barely making it through hell by the skin of your teeth is why it's liked so much.
https://files.catbox.moe/d1nrgq.png
FUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKK I WANNA PLAY XCOM 2
