Second game has some really good tracks but I feel like Forgotten Valley is so far above the standard there, it's basically cheating. It has far more tracks that stand out for their application in-game rather than the music itself being memorable or standout like the first game.
the game is kinda shit but it's also really short, around 8 hours so it wont overstay its welcome. the soundtrack deserves all the kudos it keeps getting.
Fun game that stays charming and mysterious from start to end. Weird scenery with a unique ost . Pretty basic mechanics, nothing spectacular for the combat itself, but it's not too long or too difficult.
Keep all of your armor. Yes. All of it, you'll need it for stuff later. There are dress-up doll puzzles that can give you a game-stopping grind if you play with the "sell everything as soon as it's outdated mindset." I consider this to be the only real "need to know" things to save yourself some hassle. Buttons are pressure sensitive which won't work in emulation but I never found a need to use anything less than a full power attack anyhow.
Think of it like an oddball Legend of Zelda.
I do not recommend the sequel at all.
It's basically the intermediate step between King's Field/Shadow Tower and Demon's Souls. It's a very interesting game if not necessarily good. The soundtrack is 10/10
implying demon's souls wasnt a staple fromcrap game as well. people are just much more lenient towards its missteps because it's part of a now iconic series.
A novelty. If that's enough for you then it's worth exploring but otherwise I didn't find it to be very good and I played it back on launch.
an average rpg with one of the best soundtracks ever made
yes, even THAT song is good
based good music enjoyer
the 2nd game honestly topped it somehow, i unironically listen to this ost when studying. never got the hate for it
for me, its 'Forgotten Valley, Sanctuary'

Funny you say that - there actually is a track with nails on a chalkboard.
It's great though.

and odd little game with some interesting yet unrefined mechanics, and a really weird but good soundtrack
