Bro that handheld seems so unconformable.
I thought it was only cloud based, if true NEVER.
So kind of like Wii U gamepad.

uncomfortable in comparison to what? im not really interested in the product at all, but i dont know what you consider to be a comfortable (or at least more comfortable) handheld then?
id rather have each hand holding a literal controller than some gimped half-thing like nearly every other handheld out there eg. switch, ally, deck etc. at least the deck is physically large and thick enough to sort of hold properly but the closer your grip mimics a traditional controller, the more comfortable it'll be, compared to the original input method/controller at the very least.

I can see a world where it's not a complete flop, if it sells for no more than $150: a DualSense ($70) and a tablet-screen thing ($80) is not that bad for that price.
But for its rumored price of $300?! You can buy a pretty decent tablet AND a controller at that point. For not that much more, you can buy an entire Steam Deck.

      >useless brick if there is no internet

You can stream games from the console, you don't need Internet.

You need internet if you're outside, which is the point of buying that device.

No, the point of the device is to stream games from your PS5.

          >you don't need internet
How do you think local wi-fi works exactly, moron?

You can't possibly be THIS moronic.

          >$150

Keep dreaming. If (when) they fail and if Sony overproduced then we might have a chance to pick them up heavily discounted on clearance.

Maybe some community work could be put in to make it function with steam.

Yeah, I don't think it's going to be cheap at all. But that's the price it needs to sell for or it's going to flop. Even at $200, it's dangerously close to "I can buy an actual tablet + controller" territory.

          What?
You do know two devices can connect directly to each other through the same router, right? No shit you need a router but that is not the same thing as "needing the internet" everyone is already going to have internet in their home the problem is a service interruption.

Project Q has a better chance of destroying Sony's presence in the games industry than doing anything to the Switch.
The Steam Deck will probably sell more units total, considering it can actually play video games and not just stream them.
This is all ignoring the inevitable Switch 2, which will likely cement Nintendo's position for the next 8 years.

Even if this was massively successful it's basically impossible to surpass the switch considering it has been out since 2017 and has a much broader appeal. This thing is utterly doomed to fail and shows how out of touch sony is with handheld devices.

Funny because the only reason anyone owns Sony hardware at this point is brand loyalty.

All they had to do was release PS5 Mini or PSP2 or something. Why the frick are they copying Wii U out of all the things they can copy? 300 dollars PS5 Mini with hardware that lets you play PS5 games at 720p would be pretty good. Even if it's digital only.

PC here, the chances are zero.
Unlike Playstation, the Switch has increasingly more games for people to buy, while the PS5 and "Project Q" have decreasingly less games.

I just don't get the point.
I do understand one thing, the biggest weakness of the WiiU gamepad's performance was needing to stream straight form the console, using your lan routing would let you play more than 1 room away or whatever. Of course Nintendo saw through this and saw a better concept was the hybrid console which could work stand alone I handheld or connect to your entertainment system.

This thing? I get what it's for... but what is it really doing? I am not gonna move the ps5, I get that. Is this really the best option for playing in another room? Remote play already exists. I can already connect my DS4 to my android tablet and play that on remote play. I can also do it anywhere that has wifi... and more importantly if I upgraded to a newer smartphone(I'm stuck on android 8 right now) I would be able to tether to the tablet and use 5G or connect a controller to the phone and play on 5G that way almost anywhere.
So especially if this can only be used on WLAN then what is even the fricking point of it?

      >I do understand one thing, the biggest weakness of the WiiU gamepad's performance was needing to stream straight form the console
      I won't call it a weakness
Wiiu had dedicated 5ghz wifi just for it, shit literally worked sometimes faster than hdmi cable on main console
Low range because outside of it gamepad used blue tooth to connect with console, and price increase were a problem. But honestly it was technical marvel

        Anonymous

Honestly that is pretty cool didn't know that. The range was fricking dismal though.
I guess it was practical if you wanted to play wiiu in the living room but daddy wanted to watch the football game. Not great for much else.

Literally zero. This thing is going to flop hard. Sony should’ve just made an all new PSP as a switch competitor. It’s a fricking no brainer
