I can see a world where it's not a complete flop, if it sells for no more than $150: a DualSense ($70) and a tablet-screen thing ($80) is not that bad for that price.
But for its rumored price of $300?! You can buy a pretty decent tablet AND a controller at that point. For not that much more, you can buy an entire Steam Deck.

I can already connect my DS4 to my android tablet and play that on remote play. I can also do it anywhere that has wifi... and more importantly if I upgraded to a newer smartphone(I'm stuck on android 8 right now) I would be able to tether to the tablet and use 5G or connect a controller to the phone and play on 5G that way almost anywhere.
So especially if this can only be used on WLAN then what is even the fricking point of it?
