Bethesda games seem to get more and more bland: Skyrim's soundtrack had some good pieces for towns or ambient tracks but caves and combat music was pretty boring and Fallout 4 is completely forgettable

It's the second best mainline FF game. It would be the best if not for its pacing issues.
I understand why it filtered so many people though. FF fans are used to getting spoonfed baby formula all their lives so it has to be a shock to deal with something a bit more complex than "we have to gather the sacred crystals to kill satan!"
Absolute trash. Atrocious combat salvaged by Gambits so you can read a newspaper instead of playing the game. Van and Penelo contribute nothing to the story. Beautiful world wasted with trash gameplay.
Square Enix is so ashamed of this turd they will never sell vanilla FF12 ever again.

But the sense of exploration and side content saves it.

I always thought it was dumb how you Fran is the only non-hume party member. Would've been cool to have a Bangaa or Nu Mou to explore their culture more. But they just went with humans and a bunnygirl to entice coomers and fujos.
Story sucks, but is probably the best FF game in terms of content and gameplay. Primarily because it doesn't rely on ridiculously OP limit breaks or sky-high stats like 7, 8, and 10 did. The game world is fricking massive.

I wish they would have allowed armors to change the appearance of characters. Hiding Vaan's ugly face or removing Penelo's moronic outfit and giving them proper clothes, as showcased by Revenant Wings, would have basically increased the game's worth by 200%.
Zodiac Age having this whole """jobs""" system but not changing any of the appearances of the characters to match said """jobs""" entirely defeats the purpose of it.
How FFX-2 out of all things managed to get that right but subsequent games didn't is beyond me.

Came earlier than Dragon Age. In fact, DA's Tactics menu is ripped straight from FFXII's Gambit system. So it's the other way around.
