1920s New England is supposed to be the "default" CoC setting but most people end up running it like a 30's-50's noir movie with spooky fish.

Well yeah, the 20’s were a weird era, it’s not always easy to get into. I don’t get the 50’s and 60’s because I just keep hitting the wall of “people knew better by then” for a lot of the ‘social norms’ of that era and it takes me out of the setting.

It's literally an acclaimed system set in the '20s. You roll for bullets alongside damage, giving a realistic feeling to reloading a gun even.

Yep, and there’s literally nothing else of note about it. Just a very solid system for 1920’s games.

          Nothing else at all…

most games that claim a 'pulp adventure' setting are set in the interwar period. Many lean towards the 1930s (because punching Nazis is fun) but the difference between the '30s and the '20s is largely aesthetic and mostly to do with austerity vs opulence.
Spirit of the Century explicitly states it is set in the '20s.

Is it normal for the top wing to cover the wienerpit

Yeah, that’s pretty typical of biplanes. It’d be weird if it didn’t.

it looks like it's supposed to be a Sopwith Salamander, or something similar.

It's a Sopwith Camel. Somewhat incorrectly drawn (the wing struts are wrong) but clearly based on one.

Gangbusters. The recent B/X version is great too, but has most substance for gangster PCs.
