What are some good games with similar mechanics to the first two fallout games?
And don't say underrail, I want actually decent games.

>very slow animations
>slow to pick locks
>slow to open doors
>slow to star combat
>slow to end combat
>slow to change weapons
frick this game holy shit go play Arcanum, the obnoxious animations are instant there
what kind of adhd riddled mongoloid zoom brain is this
Not him but Arcanum triggered my adhd 100x more than fallout 1 or 2 ever did so no idea what he means
>Enable realtime mode
>Combat is over in ten seconds
Unless you use magic or tech items. Realtime melee is great at removing the useless time spent not hitting eachother for 20 turns
Arcanum has a lot of cool ideas but actually playing it is a miserable experience.
i tried to play it but it's to shit
props to the devs for making a story line about gnomes (jews) breeding half orcs (mongrel merimutts) by having their orc (Black person) slaves rape captured humans and elves (whites) to produce smarter slaves to sell
Well that was my suggestion. Maybe Atom RPG which I've never played but heard things about.
aren't the Shadowrun games comparable to Fallout?
I'd suggest them to someone looking for a more story focused X-com.
good point, I forgot the combat system of that work more like Xcom and/or Divinity OS series where the strat is cover and robbing the enemies of their turns. Fallout was much closer to a full paper&pen system
space wreck
Looks promising but
>EA
New Vegas
Expedition: The Black Sea
>i want games that are like fallout except for games that are like fallout
Literally the real Fallout 3, Wasteland 2.
How is it? How is 3?
2 is pretty good, but the combat is a lot more tactical. I liked the story when I played it, but it's been years. Haven't played 3
Wasteland 2 is great and actually has double the content of 3.
I have Wasteland 2 and Directors cut on Gog and Directors Cut on Switch. I'm just gonna say that personally I really enjoy the atmosphere and I love being able to roam around with 6 characters at once cus you can set up your sniper, close range, medic, etc or play how you want. Some of the wild life can be brutal but overall if you enjoy Fallout 1 and 2 then Wasteland 2 is only the next logical step. I have not played 3 yet because of other games on my backlog.
What does the Director's Cut actually change? I played the game on release and haven't touched it since
Play the Big Four (1.5 Resurrection, Olympus 2207, Fallout of Nevada and Fallout:Sonora) if you want more in-engine Fallout, ATOM RPG: Trudograd (frick the first one, its writing is only saved by a single companion and they've missed a lot of QoL from FO1 for some reason) if you want more of FO-like system postapocalypse made by modern devs, Arcanum if you're here just for the mechanics without Fallout and want to see things getting more advanced, Planet Alcatraz if you like FO-like mechanics and shitholes but with RTWP and strong tolerance for Eastern European "army humor".
Fallout 2 has some pretty good mods if you can tolerate machine translation or know russian.
Basically this
What he said
As mods sure, but as standalone games:
Arcanum (come on, literally steampunk fallout by Tim Cain)
Age of Decadence and their early access Colony Ship
Bonus:
Planet Alcatraz
Filtered. Not gonna recommend you anything since you decided to shit on Underrail. Get fricked.
Styg I'm sorry you made a shit game, ill still play underrail 2 in hopes it's better
Not them but how about you stop being a homosexual Black person and explain why you think the game is shit?
>boring setting
Metro networks are fricking boring and I will never understand why Igor thinks they're the coolest place to put a game
>awful skills
Nearly no options for non combat methods, every talking skill is fricking useless, crafting is useful but boring and I do not understand why people think this is a good crafting system
>bullet sponge combat that can be interesting but rarely isn't
Fights take too long and turn into kiting and clicking tests, unless you play jank with traps which is ultimately boring to do
>boring story
A couple of decently well written missions, but a shit main story that I forgot as soon as it was over
Ultimately the game is only good for theorycrafting builds who you quit 50% through a playthrough when the actual game begins
sounds like planescape torment and disco elysium and other visual novels are what you want.
>Metro networks
they are just road connecting one place to the next, the bulk of the game is spent in either crawler infested caves or cyberpunk dystopias
>no options for non combat methods
stealth, dodge and evade can pretty much make your character a ghost, and the oddity XP mode lets you level up without fighting
>Fights take too long and turn into kiting and clicking tests
my build was a grenade thrower, trap setting, fist fighter, telekinetic glass cannon and i don't remember a single fight lasting more than 3 turns, either i wipe out all enemies or die and reload
>a shit main story that I forgot as soon as it was over
yeah becos Fallout 1 & 2 were masterpieces of story telling, right?, i'd take a game were lovecraftian cultist are fighting space jannies in a sunless frozen world over every fallout game every time
>the game is only good for theorycrafting builds who you quit 50% through a playthrough
i hate to tell you this anon, but the Depot.A that filtered you is just the first mission
I finished the game anon. But yes replaying it filters me about 3 hours in everytime.
>no options for non combat methods
and nowadays you can play like 99% of the game as a pacifist anyway. There's like 1 or 2 mandatory kills.
>Not them but
you will never, ever, be a woman (or frick a woman)
i'm currently playing Fallout Nevada and have to say it makes the official Classic Fallouts Look like Fan games. It's just so good. Hope Sonora gets a translation soon.
Underrail is better than Fallout 1 and 2 and I'm tired pretending it is not. No really, it's a straight upgrade in every way.
>worse music
>worse art
>worse UI
>worse story
>worse characters
It has better combat and that's it
>worse music & art
it was made by 3 Serbian guys in a basement and i'm very sure "the Dude" was based off one of them
>worse UI
doubt it, Fallout had shit UI and using items was a fricking chore
>worse story
the presence of psychic powers, lovecraftian monsters and space jannies shits all over the fallout plot
>worse character
than who, the vault dweller? the generic faceless, nameless, voiceless vault dweller that's just a blank slate for the player to project himself into?
>It has better combat and that's it
that's a pretty big item considering that combat is more than half the game in both UnderRail and Fallout
Jagged Alliance 2.
It's a lot more tactical/combat based than Fallout but it's got much better combat mechanics. Play at least once as close to origional as possible before you start messing with mods however, mods add a lot of depth/fun but it's probably too deepend for a new player.
YOU FILTHY BETHESDA FRICKS
GIVE ME MY GHOUL WIFE TO IMPREGNATE
>ghoul wife
>rotten pussy
why would you want that
Pussy pus, always lubed and ready
Underrail, get good homosexual
Arcanum, vtmb, planescape, wasteland 2, elex,
Any of you Black folk tried Atom RPG, and is it good?
Too many jokes about russian pop culture.
You literally can't understand anything.
Alright, fair enough.
I got my fill of unintelligible foreign references from playing fricking Grezzo 2.
its fine
the problem is what anon mentioned
but it fine anyway
I did and it was mediocre experience.
It's Russian Fallout, more or less. Sure, it have basic Fallout elements, it have post apo world and actually harsh environment and high difficulty of most fights, but it's also full of Russian memes, humor and many asthetics are plain odd, weird or unsetting. It's also very imbalanced, burst fire is OP as frick when you can handle ammo problems, enemies capable of using it will gun you down before you can react so late game is pretty much a mess. Many quests have odd requirements, some borderline guide only, skill checks in early game and even mid are way too high, especially speech and pre-final fight had to be nerfed because nobody could survive it (absolutely nobody, mentioned burst fire).
6/10 game in my opinion. If you starve for such games, can be 7/10 or even 8 but not more.
> The writing is fricking atrocious if you know the references, probably better if you're oblivious
> Basically 1:1 copy of SPECIAL except there's some frickery with the combat going on a square grid and not a hex grid or free map, looks moronic but sniper builds work flawlessly
> For some reason half of the quests you might not get from a sniper build require a high CHR check while the other require a high Speechcraft check, QoL mods recommended to see what the frick they want from you
> No unified artstyle so you'll vary between a filtered photo, an artwork or some moronic edit like HP Lovecraft with a beard writing space smut
> moronic hunger mechanic that does nothing but give extra weight to your backpack but that's part of the course for Slavic games for some reason
> Cool cars, you can get some good retro shit or a UAZ
> Some very moronic QoL, you can't look at names of items even if you press ALT and there's no indication of whether the body has been looted or not
> (Because of that, mods like Phenomen and Neutron are strongly recommended as they fix most of the jank)
> (They do not fix absolutely moronic naming conventions on the world map, be ready to check the wiki for the names of some locations because they DO NOT look like what is described)
> The plot is basically non-existent, go down three dungeons and then kill/talk out the main guy, but there's a lot of side shit to do, can be easily missable because of CHR checks/first impressions
Atomgrad feels much better so it's a better first experience if you don't care about continuity or some shit, but if you're ready to withstand all the jank, there's a bunch of good moments (luck checks, discovering some cool spots on the world map, some misc quests) as well. 6/10 in a good way.
Fallout Nevada is about as good as the first two Fallout games, that team also released Sonora but its only available in Russian.
atom rpg
>and don't say underrail
anon this is as much of a gaming sin as using a shield in dark souls.
age of decadence is basically the real fallout 3
Atom RPG
it's basically a russian fallout ripoff
Metalheart Replicants Rampage (slav shit tho), in fact plenty of obscure slav ripoffs you'll never play
Atom RPG being the more playable and recent
Shadowrun, kinda
Jagged Alliance 2, give it a try
Fallout 1.5, Resurrection, Olympus, etc. mods
Arcanum but I don't care for the setting
recently Weird West has some FO1 influence with the map
FO Tactics but ehh
Underrail
also play STALKER, Ashes 2063, Darkwood, modded New Vegas
russians sure love classic fallouts huh?
never realized that
Russians love disaster porn and squalor games. They can relate.
Many Slavs had FO2 as their first FO game instead of 3 due to PC dominance, so many have tried to either make their own postapocalyptic masterpiece or just copy it to Slavic locations. Partially led to Metro 2033, Underrail and STALKER, so it might not be that bad.
i had FO2 as my first game because it was the newest one at the time
and as a kid sequel is always better
F3 is basically oblivion so everyone could run it
we didn't lived in a stone age dude
plus one of the most popular game journals and one of the e celebs were constantly praising F2 so everyone at least tried to play it
>journals
ah frick
magazines*
It all boils down to how consoles weren't popular.
People played these games and passed them on their children, so even though I'm not that old diablo 2 and fallout 2 are my favourite games.
Play the mods
>don't say underrail
Underrail is way better than any Fallout game. You got filtered because you didn't bother to read the info that the game gave you.
Underrail is far too biased against the player.
You don't meta where the enemies are and don't get the first round/alpha strike?
You're dead.
It has the worst artificial difficulty I've seen in any RPG, by FORCING your character to solo vs enemies that are ALWAYS in packs/groups, many of which can acquire the same feats as the player.
There isn't eve a reason for this. No one that's not utterly braindead would go alone into the wilderness.
>You don't meta where the enemies are and don't get the first round/alpha strike?
>You're dead.
Your problem is that you refused to acknowledge the difficulty settings. If you put it on EASY the game becomes EASY. You can literally just randomize all the stats, don't read anything or try to make the build shit on purpose and still you will be able to clear the game EASILY. Magical, how those words actually mean something in a game. I went in blind for the first and put it on hard and obviously the game was hard but still managed to clear it.
Literally no one who complains that Underrail is too hard played it on easy. It's their own fricking fault for not reading what difficulty settings the game offers.
it's a videogame. all difficulty is artificial
kys
its not very good
It's pretty good
If you never played it, maybe.
The real time/(broken) turn based combat is absolute cancer. The main plot is passable but it requires you to pass through furry deathclaws and other abominable ideas that may or may not fit older fallout games.
I guess it can be fine if you like the Bethesda Fallouts.
>Muh doesn't fit in lore
Damn, bro, so you're saying YOU'VE ACTUALLY played Tactics? Maybe even Fallout 1 and 2? Unbelievable, how many medals do you have already? Can only jerk off to smooth deathclaws, hairy ones don't turn you on?
Tactics looks very good, has nice animations and sound design, so pew-pew is very satisfiable. A lot of cool guns a ability to command virtually any humanoid creature in Fallout universe. Gameplay is OK as a casual JA2 with a sprinkle of SPECIAL on it. Good game.
This right here is why zoomers should be stone to death
Was the re-release actually good? I only tried the bugfest that was the original.
