why would you need mods? the game works fine. you aren't a chud are you?
Gensokyo
Calamity
thorium + magic storage is all you'll ever need (maybe spirit mod to if it ever gets updated again) ignore this stupid chud
Calamity is the worst mod in existence ever made for a game and only trannies and 15 year olds with no taste like it
Calamity
At least mention recipe browser, boss checklist and omniswing if you're talking about utility mods.
As for calamity, I still find it insane how much people complain about it, it's gone to contrarian levels at this point. Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong but if you dislike
>lore
Then don't read it
>non vanilla scaling
Then I have no idea why you're playing the game with other mods and bloating the game
>dev
Then have a nice day
>worm bosses
Then fair, but I wouldn't say it's a major flaw
>difficulty modes
Then get good, they're usually decently balanced, though some were/are shit
have a nice day calachud
NTA but
>Then don't read it
How about I just don't play your shit mod if your solution to bad content is to not do the bad content?
>Then I have no idea why you're playing the game with other mods and bloating the game
Good mods either synergize with the vanilla game or go the total conversion/overhaul route. This is simply lazy.
>Then have a nice day
Why are you so mad, Fabsol? It's not because someone personally dislikes you regardless of your mod, it's because with the way you develop your shit it becomes clear that your content is a reflection of your personality. That's why your gayry is always brought up, because YOU let it seep into your mod.

None, vanilla is fine
Can anyone who's actually sane please explain to me why Calamity is bad? I'm not autistic enough to frequent /vg/ to have learned the whole scoop.
Every time I see mention of the mod, the first response is always spastics spamming chud this or chud that. I don't get it.
From what I understand it's because the dev is autistic and added mary sue shit including a boss that mocks you every time you die to it like Sans from Undertale.
Also there's songs that have lyrics in them.
Oh, that's it? I guess I expected something worse like a damn retard with how so many Anons seem so zealous with their hatred of it. Adding music with lyrics sounds like a huge turn-off, but having a boss that makes fun of you for not gittin gud is pretty based.
Actually you know what, I think the general still has that dumb fucking explanation, lemme find it.
>Balancing is rough, pre-hardmode is okay, but after that it just overshadows vanilla/other content mods. Claims to be a "high difficulty" mod, so much that it adds two new difficulty mods on top of Expert. Dev had a sperg moment and fucked off to his Discord bubble when people on the forums criticized the mod and his mod's terrible balancing. More about quantity over quality, and best used on its own unless you want it to overpower everything from other mods. Consider using the CalamityNerf mod in case you still want to go with it, as that mod tones down everything Calamity adds to slightly less dumb values. (WARNING: CALAMITYNERF HAS NOT UPDATED TO .11 tMODLOADER YET.) (there's also a Calamity Vanilla Buff that does the opposite of Calamity Nerf now, if you want comedy)
Again, for some reason they just ignore all the good parts of the mod, like the bosses, weapons, music and new biomes, and instead focus on the dev, which is irrelevant, and balancing, which is perfectly fine unless you play with multiple content mods which is in general a dumb idea anyway. Admiteddly, this is outdated, but this is still why there are still retards saying it's shit.
Thank you very much, Sane-kun. I guess I'll give the mod a try and see what all the hubbub is.
samefagging calachud
No problem anon. I do think that, especially nowadays, there probably are much better mods, but Calamity is still a classic. I'd suggest playing Expert mode Revengeance if you can handle Expert mode already. Part of the fun of the mod is the difficulty and this is still a fairly doable one.
Also, as you likely read already, don't play this mod with other content mods.
I'll be honest when you go through calamity you'll find the base game pretty barebones. It starts to get a little "too much" shortly after getting into hard mode with them trying to fit a lot into the limited world of the base game but if you already like Terraria there's very little to dislike about more of the game. I wouldn't personally suggest it for a first run through if you're not a progression focused maniac that likes a lot of gear customization.
A serious answer
>Gameplay hardly exists outside of boss fight, "mobbing" isn't really a thing because you just destroy everything with overpowered weapons past the start of the game. If you want a boss fight simulator it's great but other mods & vanilla are more complete and substantial experience
>Unbalanced to the point even vanilla is better at this
>Doesn't know what the fuck it wants to do with Summoner and whips at all, huge cognitive dissonance issues relating to that
>Awful community and obnoxious ego-inflated devs in general
>Over half of my Calamity playthroughs would run into gamebreaking glitch, like a minion from EoC dealing 1 million+ damage for seemingly no reason. Glitchy as fuck in multiplayer in general
It's a good mod but flawed and extremely overrated
Basically if your favorite part of terraria is the part where you have infinite flight at ridiculous speeds, a weapon that pisses homing damage and four DoTs as long as you have your cursor near the enemy, and you fight the last couple bosses by going into inventory and chugging 50 potions, summoning a boss, holding down M1 and then pressing whichever wasd key is generally pointing away from the enemy; then youre going to fucking LOVE calamity.
>2023
>people still playing with those shit graphics
disgusting
>mods
>good
Does anyone remember N Terraria? It was a super cool mod that added races, AI-controlled player-created parties, endless dungeon biome, and all tied together with broken RPG progression.
Very fun shit, but last time I played it must've been 1.1 or somewhere around there. Looked it up and it looks like that's about where it left off.
Thorium + Fargo's Souls is THE peak of Terraria
ignore Calamity
why would you even needs mods for this shit game kek. i stopped playing this in 2012 when the game had no updates, its really a shit fucking grinding simulator with a serious lack of things to actually do.
>its really a shit fucking grinding simulator with a serious lack of things to actually do
and shit graphics
i don't even care about you boomer why are you so obsessed with terraria's graphics? there have been multiple threads about you complaining about the games pixel artstyle. the game sucks dont get me wrong but do you ever think about ever giving up?
>projecting
>only one people can call the art trash
back to your vg general already
Game must've been very different in 2012 then. In its current state it's almost bloated. Once you get into mid-hardmode you have to pull up the wiki to see which boss to do next, because doing shit out of order is a good way to get your ass kicked unless you're some 1337 Master-difficulty Terraria sensei that has a huge penis and disagrees with this post.
Feels good to be a bigdick sensei
I disagree with this post because the game kinda handholds you on where to go from mid-hardmode onwards. You kill mechas - you are told to go to the jungle. You kill plantera - you are given a key to the temple and also something something dungeon. You go to the golem and kill it, and when you arrive at the dungeon you got the cultists, then you just beat the game. Empress and Fishron are kinda inconsequential, if anything, you'd need to pull up a wili page to even know you can fight them.
I'm talking about events, seeing as they often have the drops you need to fight the next boss. And the devs kinda just threw all these new events into hardmode, and will probably continue to do so.
Gonna be honest with you, this is only really true for summoners. You'd need post-planterra shit for those events and by that time you can just bump the golem with whatever you scavenged from Planterra or the nu-Dungeon and go straight for the pillars. Only class that would struggle in this scenario is summoner because it's the most side-content oriented class as far as gear goes. Then that's a fair assertion.
In fact I kinda wish they made that side content MORE necessary because all of my playthroughs save for one end up ignoring the events and the side-bosses altogether.
I usually just play ranged and I couldn't imagine trying to make it to the endgame without the xenopopper, nailgun, or electrosphere launcher. Probably forgetting some more.
Coincidentally, a ranged purist playthrough is the only purist playthrough I haven't completed yet, so I actually can't really argue there.
Redditgit keeps pumping out his mediocre non-updates with mild balance tweaks and I keep postponing the playthrough because of that. Last time I purged a playthrough was when my earlygame quadbarrel shotgun strat got youdidn'tbeatthegame'd.
I think the alien event is almost necessary for other builds too.
Other than that I agree that only summoner has to deal with them
t. always gravitates toward summoner when I play this game
It's not as far as my gameplay is concerned. I play exclusively on Master ever since 1.4 dropped and I have not done martians for actual gear since my summoner run.
Golem is too easy even post-buff (yet another one), and pillars don't require any real gear milestones because you can position yourself into a low stress scenario and they don't even reset after you die. And a single beaten pillar is enough to make a penultimate weapon that overshadows the martian shit.
Once again I only claim this to be true for Magic and Melee, I do not have the experience mecessary to judge the Ranged situation.
Only master mode run I did was summoner but I suppose you are true, the melee shit you can get from a pillar is ridiculous, same with magic. I suppose the ranger stuff isn't half bad either.
That being said I feel like a cosmic car key is basically necessary
Aye, a good flying mount is my go to strategy for Moonman these days, but you should do Pumpkin Moon instead if you're on Master. The broom is superior to the UFO in every objectivelly quantifyable way.
Then again you could also get a molecart and build an easy minecart track as well.
Honestly I forget sometimes that you can even do pumpkin moon outside of Halloween. When I did my summoner run it was Halloween and I had one, but I just forgot. I guess you can go for the expert item from Empress too
Ye, that's an option too. I don't use the insignia because if I need infinite flight I'll just pop my broom/fishron mount, which will open up 2 accessory slots for DPS if I'm really sweaty. I guess I'll need one for my ranger one eay or another because you can't stealth on a mount, but that'll be post-moonlord anyway.
Any mods that add other classes?
In vanilla, I've always loved challenging myself by not using weapons and only using traps and shit. Engie chads rise up
If only the netcode wasn't so shit. Then I could play with my friends.
>Fabsol is in this very thread
Abandon thread, we're going to have nothing but seething Calatrannies trying to defend their garbage fanfic mod all the way to bump limit now.
You sound like a calachud yourseld. I'm having a jolly conversation about vanilla progression over here and you want us to pack up and leave. You sure you're not saying this because this thread is nothing but calameme mockery and vanilla diacussion?
Any mod that displays discount from vullager's happiness?
Is there a mod that adds bots to the game that occasionally say stuff in chat and play like a human so that i can try and experience multiplayer one last time?
We haven't had a server in years because of the tmodloader Trainwreck
I did a handful of tmodloader MP playthroughs at different points in time and they went all fine
