The options menu alone made me cum buckets.
Let alone the story, graphics and art design.
Gameplay was good too, although I think Gehenna got much harder still if I remember correctly. Or maybe I just got too good at these over the first game.
      Still an amazing game.

Nah Gehenna is indeed vastly harder than 2, but I still enjoyed 2's gameplay quite a lot. The antigrav surface puzzles in particular were very fun.

Gehenna was DLC so I hope we get some ballbuster DLC for 2

      Not really.
It got enough hype that it deserved, but it's just not a whacky puzzler like Portal, so it's a lot more niche.
TTP 2 was also a letdown in terms of puzzles, unfortunately.
The game was incredibly easy for most of it, unlike the exceptional Gehenna DLC for TTP 1.

        >exceptional Gehenna DLC for TTP 1
Wish that had been the standard for the base game, tbh. Using lasers to switch off lasers had been an idea in my head since it was first introduced as a mechanic, and I'm pissed it only got used at the very, very end

I'm actually listening to the soundtrack now. The music that plays when chasing Prometheus' spark is pretty solid, as is This Void. Honestly the soundtrack all together is great.

        Same.
        Credits music was cringe though

It didn't hit the mark for me either but maybe I ought to try listening to it again. I think maybe it felt a bit...weak I guess. Like it would have been better if it came off as more triumphic and bombastic. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQYN2P3E06s&pp=ygUPc29nbm8gZGkgdm9sYXJl

its even better when you know its slightly nostalgic from the first soundtrack.

Where was the driller to get the activator to get the athena star on the statue level(anthropic hills?)? I ended up just breaking out an activator from a puzzle instead.
The one thing I didn't find the intended solution for...

First one was better. The gameplay is great but i found the story really cringy.
And i was getting a lot of micro stutters on a rather good pc but that's typical for that engine

agreed, the story for me is completely unironically pic related.
how many times can they hammer the same damn concept into the player?
i fricking get it, get close to the sun, risk getting burned.

environments were incredibly tedious to navigate and there were a lot of small technical issues. nothing game breaking as far as i could tell, but i got quite a few crashes, stutters, textures loading in front of my eyes even with a top tier rig etc.

puzzles are interesting but overall too easy except for like 4-5 that actually stumped me hard.
there's still one that i had to watch a video for which i don't understand why the frick that worked and my previous attempts didn't

        >environments were incredibly tedious to navigate
This is my biggest complaint. Yes they were pretty but most of them were just to massively large. At least 1 had that speed up feature you could bind in the settings but even if you had that in 2 some of them were still insane. The second last area with the statues was so agitating to get around, even worse when trying to solve that damn laser star puzzle.

Never played these, should I play 1? Normally with puzzle games I'd just play the latest but I don't know how much story and lore there is here

You don't need to play 1 at all to get the story
Only story 1 had is a disembodied voice and some audio logs

If you want to play 2, play 2, otherwise play 1.

2 is a sequel, the story is not THAT important but it has all these nice little touches that you'll understand better if you play 1.
i also found 1 to be a better game overall, personally i strongly suggest 1, it still looks good

      >environments were incredibly tedious to navigate

they even boasted about how croteam is good at creating big enviroments, like it's some sort of achievement.
Black, i can do into any game engine and create a <maxsize>X<maxsize> map, it's not impressive just because you slapped pretty textures from the unity store on top.

the slap on the face is that there's a fasttravel option BUT only from the starting pod and ONLY when travelling to OTHER areas.
so i can go from the pod of E1 to level 7 in E2
      absolutely moronic
