No, the Samus Returns suit is closer in design to the Prime suit, which otself is based on the Super suit, Other M had this flat piss yellow suit with limited detail and no lights.
What? You think Ultimate Warrior was a recent thing? Its from the manga dipshit.

I know that, but this whole "Samus is le Metroid because autistic morons can't comprehend a game called Metroid not having metroids in it" bullshit is an ass-pull.
>Samus got Metroid DNA and turned into the Last Metroid
I swear that Nintendo was taking the piss on people confusing her with the title enemy. Now when people say >Why can't Metroid crawl?
They aren't entirely wrong and it hurts.
genuinely shocked how many people are mad at this shit
its a fricking cameo you see for 10 seconds
who cares if they use the other m suit
its just an asset they had on hand to quickly use
get a life you gay
It's the worst Varia Suit design from the worst game, it's fair enough that if you like Samus you won't like that design getting used when there are much better alternatives. >bawww its a minor thing so you can't talk about it
You can never control what other people want to say, grow up.
No, you can never control what other people want to say. You can't control what other people think. Best you can do is influence through conversation. Whining about the things people choose to say just reveals that you're a petulant mental midget to a degree that far exceeds any kind of nerd nitpicking.
You really need to understand why the fanbase hates Other M. Imagine the creator of a series he hasnt really touched since the snes. Coming back out of nowhere and is booty blasted that the fanbase and some devs DONT UNDERSTAND THE RRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL SAMUS! The one that was never conveyed at all anywhere. The RRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL Samus being an idiotic, overly emotional crybaby, who gets no respect from anyone. And the game itself basically not being a Metroid game at all. And everyone on the team telling Sakamoto that this isnt a good idea but Nintendo gave him full authority so he just steams on ahead. Nearly killing the franchise in the process.
I understand the hate for other M, hell even I don't like the game and I am a huge metroid fan, but the suit design never bothered me in fact I like it, many people just hate it because it's from other M and some genuinely don't like it and thats ok.

I'm learning Japanese, why the frick is Koopa written in Katakana?

Most foreign or fantasy style names will be written in katakana. Only actual japanese names will be written in hiragana/kanji.

Makes sense
Still fricks me when I see logos written in Katakana tho, but I guess It's just an stylistic choice there
12 months ago
Anonymous
That's because Katakana is sharper than Hiragana. So for the impact of a high energy anime soccer game you'd go with katakana to get a really bold, sharp look to the logo to push that feeling. It's one of the things the Japs excel at. They make some of the most beautiful logos making full use of their entire writing system to pick what works best.

Oh the hammer bros wear shoes now.
Surprised they were still allowed to retain most of their original designs (black helmets/shoes, throwing wooden hammers) instead of just swapping them for pic related like Superstar Saga DX did.
Anonymous
That’s the same design though? The big difference is that the rpg remake hammer bros have shoes now because the modern hammer bro wears shoes. Both didn’t back when Mario rpg originally released
The original looks like a naturalistic pile of toys in a box, while the remake looks like a perfectly geometric and unnatural stack of stiff game assets.
They must be using original art or renders. You can pick out peach, Samus, and maybe the Famicom disc system mascot, but no way in hell anyone ever noticed the stunt racer fx car.
was moronic, forgot that refers to bikinis. Just that you can see her panty strings from the side, with surprising detail, so maybe not as great of a trade.
I'm really curious about what they're gonna do with him. He was designed as a 2D entity incompatible with Mario's 3D world. His sprites were hand drawn pixel sprites, as opposed to the rest of the game's digitized 3D models.
What will they do for the remake?
No, that's literally in the Japanese dialogue, it's quite explicit but they changed it in the English localization to be more vague.
https://legendsoflocalization.com/culex-is-quite-different-in-japanese-super-mario-rpg/
Translations back then were even worse because of harsher limitations on what Nintendo would allow in games along with character limits, since you can't say as much with one letter like you can with a single kanji.
I've never seen the adjective "spoony" used in anything but ff4. I think Woosley made it up.

He did not.
Anonymous
>Spoony: Adjective >Sentimentally or foolishly amorous
It's a real word, but it's definitely not what the original dialogue was about.
Tellah
original: きさま あの時の吟遊詩人! きさまのせいでアンナは!
literal: You! You're that damn bard! Because of you, Anna's...! (The word used for both instances of "you" is "kisama", the single rudest way to say "you" in Japanese. Because of its harshness, "kisama" is somewhat akin to "you bastard" or "you son of a b***h" in English.)
SNES: You're the bard! You did this to her!
Edward
!?
Tellah
original: きさま よくも娘を・・・・
literal: How dare you do this to my daughter... (Again, "kisama" is used for "you".)
SNES: You swindler!
Edward
original: ちがうんです!
literal: It's not like that!
SNES: Please! Listen!
Tellah
original: なにがちがうと いうのだ!
literal: How the hell could it not be like that!?
SNES: You spoony bard!
Character limits are a b***h. For all the faults of Japanese writing systems, there's no denying they can convey a lot more concepts in fewer characters.
In defense of the English translation, the mention of antimatter opened up an entire rabbit hole of physics for my child mind. The line was a great fight opener.
>I will return when I receive the power of the third dimension
You know, I almost wish they add in a refight with him. Imagine that we beat Culex the first time and it's a hard fight if not using the Lazy shell and any of the accessories that guard against insta death or the elemental attacks. You just barely beat him and gain the Quartz Charm. Then after you beat Smithy, you get the post game. You can return to the rift, the charm glowing. >I have obtained it, that power that defeated me, now we will see who the final victor shall be
Now Culex has a model instead of being a sprite and is 10x harder. Got to be some reason they feel the need to give us super attacks.
Hopefully make him a highly detailed 3D model with individual strands of hair and also incompatible with the cartoony art style, and also have him comment about how he's back.
completely redo the fight to have multiple phases. first phase is the original fight as is with the exact original sprite. second phase has him with a huge HD2D style sprite.
I'm really curious about what they're gonna do with him. He was designed as a 2D entity incompatible with Mario's 3D world. His sprites were hand drawn pixel sprites, as opposed to the rest of the game's digitized 3D models.
What will they do for the remake?
Rather than being a sprite, I expect it to be just as hyper detailed as modern FF is nowadays. Still out of place, but I am sure that was part of the intent, not to make it based on their then-basic understanding of 3D design. I also expect more FF-like Cinematic boss attacks, too. Alongside some of those modern particle effects for some attacks.
Damn, hopefully they discuss a bit more before it comes out. Pretty excited but honestly if they make it worse by removing the cool shit I may have to pass.
It means “victory” in Japan, not “peace” so idk maybe they’re pozzing out who knows. Maybe they’re trying to show you Mario isn’t bald (I always thought he was).
What a homosexual. Never even crossed my mind in my life. I associate that with anime/chinks winning a competition or something like Ash Ketchum. Never once did anyone on Earth think “huh, that peace sign guy with the mustache.” Never happened.
That was Miyamoto in 1999; you have no problem with it because his ban was successful.
When I say I hate Miyamoto "these days" I mean in my current life as an adult as I learn about the dumb shit he used to do and still does. The romantic idea I had of Miyamoto as a kid doesn't hold up to scrutiny as an adult.
What a homosexual. Never even crossed my mind in my life. I associate that with anime/chinks winning a competition or something like Ash Ketchum. Never once did anyone on Earth think “huh, that peace sign guy with the mustache.” Never happened.
The trailer showed off a bunch of them, so I think they did a solid job capturing the same vibe. My only gripe is them taking away Mario's victory peace sign, but outside of that this looks beautiful.
I wonder how they'll handle that background in the remake, the creepy as frick giant head just looking straight at you is one of those unsettling early 3D visuals like a fair amount of what you see in late SNES and early PS1 games.
>some want rosalina to be the higher being geno serves
Please no. Stop trying to force rosalina into shit unrelated to her just because it’s soace related.
She's a popular product mover.
That's all they need, you're hilarious if you think nintendo gives a shit about their "lore". Why would she be in mk8, or mario maker, or anything else she's in, all the fricking sports games, golf.
I'm not saying she'll be introduced as a story beat, but if you think for a SECOND they won't find some way to shove her into the star road, delusional, pure delusion on the level of dementia.
There’s a reason I said every 100 years before you went on your weird rant. Once galaxy happened she stuck around/visited often after the star festival. The star festival has yet to happen in Mario rpg’s timeline.
>Mario >Timeline
The Mario RPG remake takes place in the post reset universe created at the end of Galaxy 1 instead of the original universe. There's your canon explanation, you fricking autist.
Trials of Mana. Better in every way. The only thing it's missing is multiplayer but lets be honest, nobody here plays multiplayer outside of MMR online matchmaking.
You are moronic
That's not terile at all
It's full of soul
Look at that shading look at those unique expressions on everyone look at those charming muppet proportions to appeal to a toddler audience(which is the MAXIMUM SOUL AUDIENCE)
The remake looks exactly like the original's artstyle. Mario, Bowser, and Peach look more modernized but that's the only significant difference. Look at how well this captures the style of the original and compare it to something like the Spyro remakes where the art style is utterly raped.
You don't know what soul is and you're trying too hard to fit in.
>The remake looks too sterile and clean and I don't like it
it literally fricking looks indentical. I have never seen a single remake that looked so close to the original, unless it was just a resolution bump with no changes.
yeah they tried to mimic the style. but thats it, it looks just mimiced, the original personality isnt here, or at least only partially. they at least tried to not mess too much with the music. it looks like one of those "remade in unreal engine" youtube videos of games like FF9 recently, which just ends up looking like a generic mess
Don't most FF remakes get something along those lines? I feel like we'll get something. Definitely some new areas and a new boss, maybe some minor enemies. I think we'll be getting new items and attacks bc wtf not. A new party member is the one I wonder about, though. I would put money on it being Toad with the bazooka so they could pay off on that joke after all these years. And yeah, I'm serious
sometimes. But lately squenix has been against those features. FF pixel remaster strips all of the bonus content from the GBA/PSP re-releases of 1-6, most of the HD2D ports have no bonus features either, just the graphical updates. The only one I think that's kept it's shit is star ocean 2nd. But that's because the PS4 release of second evolution (the PSP game) already had all of it's bonus stuff included.
This is a full 3D game, Anon. Why would they add a 2D-HD form of Culex? When their goal was to make the boss as Final Fantasy-like detailed and out of place as possible. Not to simply to scan an Amano piece into the game as the boss and call it a day.
No, that's literally in the Japanese dialogue, it's quite explicit but they changed it in the English localization to be more vague.
https://legendsoflocalization.com/culex-is-quite-different-in-japanese-super-mario-rpg/
I stand corrected. This is pretty amazing. Hope they do fix that part of the script to be like the original, then.
>I would put money on it being Toad with the bazooka so they could pay off on that joke after all these years.
Would be funny, yeah. I'm hoping they round it out with another boss/villain party member like Belome. Or even Punchinello or Croco, but Belome feels more fitting with his temple and worshippers.
I hope the hard mode is something more than something that just makes the game longer, like the Link’s Awakening remake hard mode just makes hearts not drop.
It would be extremely strange to get weird new battle mechanics as new content but no new dungeons, bosses and a rebalancing to the game. But I also wouldn't put it past them to frick shit up lol.
Hope so too anon but not expecting anything besides the new battle mechanic and visuals. The one thing going for it is it's a short game even by snes era rpgs standards.
>Upon defeat, he recognizes the party's strength and positive energy, and he and his pocket dimension disappear until the day he finally gains the solidity of the third dimension
What if he’s in 3D and his dialogue is changed to imply he fought Mario before and returned after mastering this new form?
No, that's literally in the Japanese dialogue, it's quite explicit but they changed it in the English localization to be more vague.
https://legendsoflocalization.com/culex-is-quite-different-in-japanese-super-mario-rpg/
well frick me then that's pretty fricking based, the more you know.
>go in underleveled i.e. don't know fire orb >this guy pushes my shit in
Man. Doesn't help that his bomb throw could be spammed indefinitely since it isn't tied to FP or anything, he did it like five turns in a row. Theoretically the AI could just spam that and it'd be unwinnable.
Yes that WOULD be a disaster, IF this game is being done by Nintendo. If Square Enix is doing it however, it should mostly be fine, based on recent remasters they've done.

Yes naturally but the point that anon is making is Treehouse will 100% go out of its way to buttfrick the localization if they're in charge of it, whereas if Square Enix is in charge of it there's actually a decent chance of it being better.
So are zoomers already pretending they always loved SMRPG now? I remember this game getting lambasted (none of them played it) just because he shall not be named was involved in rosterhomosexualery.
What's the deal with the rainbow area? There wasn't anything like that in the original that I remember. And this is specifically the light blue star, which Mario and Mallow get before Geno joins.
Imagine the reaction from Diddy Kong and Pauline fans who are anticipating them but they could definitely cross promote SMRPG with 8 Deluxe by include Geno and Mallow, I could see it happening
Game is already pretty easy without buffs and screen nukes. I really hope we have some "hard mode", even if it just high numbers to make you need them to survive.
I am guess Star Hill, maybe they finally turned it into a more proper part of the game, instead of just a place you go to and pick up a star piece with no battle.
Weird thing is there's a light blue star in the background. You get the LB piece from Mack and the Regular Blue one from Johnny. The purple one from Star Hill and Star Road itself looks like the moon from Yoshi's Island so I don't know what this represents.
kirby superstar ultra
improved visuals and the game adds so much more content after beating the original main subgames
i can't see myself ever playing the original over the remake
it just makes it feel incomplete after seeing everything that was added in the ds version
it controls like actual ass though
the ds/3ds had a really poor control scheme and it doesn't work for half the games nintendo ported over to it (sm64 is atrocious on 3DS)
The creators of Star Control 2 have said that the fan remake is the objectively superior version. Pretty based to let the fans get access to the source code and greenlight them making a more polished version of your game out of dedication.
the way this remake looks is horrible. from the super bright flat lighting on everything, to the attack and movement speeds, to the character models, to the lazy UI compared to the og X Y Z A button prompt one, to how they added AOE to attacks and a weird meter that will obviously make the fights way more trivial.
Nope. REmake removes nearly all the choices you can do in the original in favor for something more linear, which ruins the complexity the original had. Then there's that the mansion looked the way it did in the original because many scientists and soldiers lived there. The remake fails to understand this as it looks like some generic spooky haunted mansion, which doesn't make sense since tons of people lived in the mansion and infection wasn't too long ago before members of S.T.A.R.S did a investigation.
kirby superstar ultra

The game visuals aren't that great when compared to the SNES and the original had much better co-op, cutscenes, and overall soundtrack.
inb4 “they made it anime”
XC1 DE overall fricked up with the lightning given things don't have any shadows anymore while making everything too bright and colorful when the original had a much better use of colors.
is that what this is from? because the bottom looks like dogshit. it's a straight downgrade in everything from the units to the CO models like how do you make it look so much worse and WHY?
Hidden chests suck. It'd be one thing if there was design logic like training the player to be mindful of when they'll be able to jump on top of an npc or to look out for the lighter patches of ground, but there's no consistency, they're just wherever. I beat Zelda 1 unassisted and even I think this was bullshit made to sell guides.
I like it in theory but not when it's literally the exact same thing the entire time. Like if it was a hidden chest that functioned as a switch and opened a new exit to an optional room, that'd rule. But with this you're probably just going to get an extra flower point where the real goal is to get all of them because there's an NPC in Monstro Town who keeps track. Again, so you'll buy a guide.
>where the real goal is to get all of them because there's an NPC in Monstro Town who keeps track. Again, so you'll buy a guide.
That just sounds like you have a compulsory completionist problem. You don't have to get them all.
The game give you an accesory that makes a sound if you enter a room with a hidden chest on it. The only bullshit was the one in mushroom kingdom. The monster tracking them dont really give you anything for it, just a "wow"
Am I the only one more curious about the dialogue and names than the designs? I think we can safely say they'll leave the majority of the designs alone, but Woolsey took a lot of liberties including renaming Mario enemies that already had names. Do you think that stuff'll get standardized? (Goby -> Cheep Cheep) Will the whole script get retranslated?
>Do you think that stuff'll get standardized?
Inn the specific case you mentioned, if it was a result of a woosley error, then probably yes. >Will the whole script get retranslated?
Very likely, which is a good thing. That's assuming Squeenix is doing it though. If treehouse is doing it it will be a very, very bad thing.
The localization is actually pretty accurate in some places including enemy names and pretty loose in other ways, but they would probably take the time to correct certain things that wouldn't be good in a modern localization.
>Yo'ster's Isle >the tutorial tells you to press A and B in sync with the cymbal crashes >during the practice gameplay this doesn't work, have to press rapidly to the rhythm like 16th notes for Toad to pass you >during the actual race it works as described, even though the practice beforehand does not work that way, and the doing it the way that passes the practice will make Yoshi stall out/start jumping >except if the cymbal crashes stop then it's like the game doesn't know what to match the rhythm to and you will slow down no matter what
>this live instrumental sounds like an unfinished alpha of a yamaha keyboard soundfont filtered by a SNES sound chip
nintendo addiction has made you moronic
>Muh live instrument means it's le better

With live instruments you're so limited because you have a limited amount of recording sessions
>watch trailer >they fricked the great music the original had >sounds like some guy fricking a trumpet
Was it too much to ask to just copy paste or are they too lazy?
Didn't even need to watch the trailer to know they were going to ruin the soundtrack by making it all orchestral meme music. It was as inevitable as the shitty toy aesthetic they love so much these days.
I would wonder just what the frick they did to fill that amount. Aside from the updated visuals and music that isn't compressed to shit, what could they possibly add that wouldn't have caused the game to get to 3 gigs at most? 6 cutscenes for super attacks doesn't seem like would shoot it up that big, so I could only assume voice acting? Unless modern SE really is just that shit at compression, assuming that they didn't hand development off to a third party.
There's no fricking way this game is over 4GB unless it's built in UE4 like utter morons.
>Allegedly, the Super Mario RPG remake is going to be 8 GB. I don't have a source
Then it's not true.
https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/super-mario-rpg-switch/ >Game file size: 8 GB
I wonder if the majority of its size is pre-rendered cutscenes, especially since they seem to be at 60 FPS
There is no way that they went that far with pre-rendered scenes. I mean, sure that is going to be
>Peach getting kidnapped >Exor slamming into the castle >Mario being thrown back to his house >Mallow falling down the stairs chasing after Croco >Geno inhabiting the doll >Bowser busting down Booster Tower door >Yaridovich transformation >Peach sailing down to meet Mario >Falling into the Volcano >Blade coming to pick up Axem Rangers >Group getting sucked into Exor Mouth >Smithy blowing up >A scene for everytime Mario gets a Star
It isn't really a whole lot.
Maybe the strongest skills will be cutscenes now? Several scenes in the trailer seemed like attacks. Either that or there are completely new events (like Bowser shown carrying everyone in the Koopa clown car).
Yeah, I feel ya. Though even then LA remake did have the dungeon maker, even if it wouldn't have increased the file size that much. It does mean we could have some hope of getting something. Post game fights would be pretty sweet. Refighting bosses with changed mechanics and more power would be pretty cool.

No, they didn't. People are speculating they wanted to hide it because things about it have changed. There was a lot of cut and altered content. Fans wouldn't really be opposed to getting Star Hill as it was supposed to be. Not to mention the desert area. We have seen the battle screen for Lands End, it doesn't look too different compared to the original, while the Peach and Mario team up attack looks to take place someone more like Egypt style desert.
>Fans wouldn't really be opposed to getting Star Hill as it was supposed to be.
Wait. How was star hill supposed to be? Not that I mined getting the one freebie start
It was supposed to be an entire dungeon with a boss at the end. From the files, it looks like you were supposed to fight a dragon that looked like Boshi. Likely as a reference to FF4, as you could fight Bahamut on the moon there, which Star Hill was meant to invoke. But they ran out of time and Bahamut was moved to the battle with Magikoopa as something he summoned.

Ahh. This unused enemy is star hill colored to an extent.
Here's the thing about the team attacks theory that I don't understand... the Bowser one, the two Geno ones, and the two Peach one all take place in different environments. Sky, Space, and Valley + Desert. Which means either each team attack is just locked to that environment, each team attack changes environment based on the location, or these cutscenes aren't team attacks at all. The first option feels lazy, and the second option seems like way too much work or like it could be redundant. And looking at the Bowser one, it looks like he's flying with Mario and Mallow first, and then lands and points at them for some reason, which if it was a team attack feels out of order, no? At least with the Bowser one, that's definitely not a team attack.
They probably do have preset backgrounds and the animations don’t change to the environment you’re fighting in. It would be crazy to redo a bunch of full cutscene animations for every possible environment in the game. Bowser has Mallow and Mario with him in the clown copter and points as if he’s issuing the clown copter to attack or something. Each of these animated moments clearly has three characters involved but not the other two, suggesting these are team specific animations. They also don’t seem to fit with known moments in the games story. What else could they be besides team attacks? We won’t get a bunch of new moments added to the game that they’ve animated and only play out with specific 3 team character configurations. We also don’t know what the percentage meter does when it hits 100% but it’s gotta be something good right? Team specific animated ultimate attacks that simply play the same animated scene disregarding the environment you use them in makes the most sense. There’s no other good explanation why they would take the time to animate the scenes we have been shown or why each of them consist of just three party members and aren’t recognizably moments from the story.

>and points as if he’s issuing the clown copter to attack or something
Ah, that's fair. We don't really get to see what they're on and I was assuming they just landed. Something I noticed while rewatching these scenes was that when Mario and Peach are in the desert, Peach pulls out a classic Star and looks as if she's about to throw it to Mario after he jumps. And I did just realize they have only three members in each scene as I'm writing this post. I didn't see it before, but Geno actually has Mario in his as well. That's... kind of unfortunate all considered. Especially if the environments are the same regardless of location. Geno's and Bowser's make sense well enough to not change, being space and sky, but Mario/Geno/Peach being Yardovich area type valley and then Mario/Peach/??? being in a desert (and only showing the two of them for that matter) just seems really... odd? It just doesn't make sense to me. Undeniably these are team attacks though
12 months ago
Anonymous
Yeah they probably could have made the backgrounds more universal like the sky and space ones but sometimes these will trigger inside a sunken ship or during a wedding so I guess they just figured screw it make them fun animated visual moments in various random environments because they’ll rarely make sense in the context of the fights anyway.
>no more titty jiggle >everything looks too bright and cartoony >garbage orchestral remixes of the OST
If they let us use the original soundtrack then it would be a lot better.
You know what's scary. It means that someone at SE still has the original design documents or actually knew what was supposed to be in the box. Imagine, SE actually preserved something from the SNES days.
I really hope they keep Mario’s personality as a brute straight to battle kind of guy, throwing punches whenever he faces an enemy.
I’m not rhatoo optimistic though
I really hope they keep Mario’s personality as a brute straight to battle kind of guy, throwing punches whenever he faces an enemy.
I’m not too optimistic though. Doesn’t seem like something post Mario 64 Mario would do
Never liked how Nimbus Land was the last major town. I don't know how the frick you'd have a town (As in not just some NPC selling you shit) in Bowser's Castle or Foggy Machine Frick You Land but make it happen Nintendo.
>I don't know how the frick you'd have a town (As in not just some NPC selling you shit) in Bowser's Castle
maybe a forward camp of bowser's troops posed to take back the castle? lots of >yikes! it's mario! uh, i mean... good work out there >boy am i glad we're in here and you're out there and you're on our side
etc
>Remakes
I don’t think its ever happened. Every remake has its downsides compared to the original. Certain ports have gotten there (for example, modern Doom ports) but that’s because it’s just the same game but with more options. Any time you touch graphics, you’ve immediately created a divide among subjective lines. If you touch gameplay, even just fixing glitches or adding QoL, there’ll always be a compelling reason to go back to the original (see Resident Evil big box vs non-dualshock Directors Cut debates over autoaim).
You basically start with an usual Bowser kidnapping Peach plot then a mysterious invader attacks throwing everyone to different points of the world and taking over Bowser's castle and his forces. So everyone travels around the land to unite and face the new threat.
The main plot doesn't go much beyond that, but you have various stories in the different places you visit throughout the journey, alongside Bowser's frustrated attempts at recovering his power before teaming up with Mario. For example, Mallow initially joins Mario thinking he's a frog and he has a whole story about his true origins. I feel like it had a better mix of humor and drama than Mario & Luigi SS.

They were allowed to keep the unique generic Toads. It's clear aside from some design guidelines for the main cast they actually had freedom here.
As if RPG Peach wasn't an onahole already
Does Mount and Blade Warband counts?
>Other M suit
It's the Samus Returns suit
Doesnt look like it to me
Well they're the same suit so I'm not sure how you can't see it
no it fricking isn't
No it isn't. You can tell immediately by the thin arm cannon tip.
No, the Samus Returns suit is closer in design to the Prime suit, which otself is based on the Super suit, Other M had this flat piss yellow suit with limited detail and no lights.
>Metroid 2
>Super Metroid
Those two games had pretty different designs.
>Prime series
>only shows the Prime 2 suit
>every suit looks cool except for the Other M one.
>Other M suit gets used for Smash and other stuff
Is it because it's the most recent Japanese one?
It's the one that they don't have to credit anyone else for, so yeah. I guess. Fricking sucks shit though.
It's a strange case of being the Other M design, but with Super Metroid's proportions.
>Super Metroid's
her name is samus moron
She is the Metroid though. It means Ultimate Warrior. Don't care if you're le pretending or bait.
>homosexual forced retcons
Shut up.
What? You think Ultimate Warrior was a recent thing? Its from the manga dipshit.
It's from Fusion.
I know that, but this whole "Samus is le Metroid because autistic morons can't comprehend a game called Metroid not having metroids in it" bullshit is an ass-pull.
>Samus is actually Metroid
I'M SLOW AS FRICK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
>Samus got Metroid DNA and turned into the Last Metroid
I swear that Nintendo was taking the piss on people confusing her with the title enemy. Now when people say
>Why can't Metroid crawl?
They aren't entirely wrong and it hurts.
That's literally the Smash Bros design which is a step above Other M's design, but still isn't quite as good as the mainline game's designs.
That game does have pretty good art direction tho, it’s just not a good metroid
no it doesn't
>Nightmare's amazing sprite reinterpreted into THAT
nuhuh.
Nightmare had a great sprite. Real shame what the 3D model did to it.
Who cares about that, how will Link look?
If Link's gonna be his shitty standard Botw appearance, I will be mad
meds immediately
genuinely shocked how many people are mad at this shit
its a fricking cameo you see for 10 seconds
who cares if they use the other m suit
its just an asset they had on hand to quickly use
get a life you gay
It's the worst Varia Suit design from the worst game, it's fair enough that if you like Samus you won't like that design getting used when there are much better alternatives.
>bawww its a minor thing so you can't talk about it
You can never control what other people want to say, grow up.
He's right loser
Get a grip
No, you can never control what other people want to say. You can't control what other people think. Best you can do is influence through conversation. Whining about the things people choose to say just reveals that you're a petulant mental midget to a degree that far exceeds any kind of nerd nitpicking.
Nice strawman you just destroyed
Get a grip, loser
Getting to the heart of your sentiment isn't strawman.
>who cares if they use the other m suit
it's Nintendo going "remember the worst Metroid game?"
It would be like Capcom doing Breath of Fire cameos in other games but are all Dragon Quarter
But Dragon Quarter was based
>But Dragon Quarter was based
punishing the player for using the series gimmick is not "based"
>"""Punishing"""
Why is it always brainlets who hate DQ?
it speeds up the game over counter, how is it not punishing?
this is why i hate metroid fans, you fricking c**ts b***h about literally everything
I understand. I just don't care. You're a bunch of whiny fricking b***hes constantly being triggered by a fricking video game. Grow the frick up.
Gb2 twatter you he-she Black person loving monster
and that's not even getting into the gameplay side of why Other M is hated
I understand the hate for other M, hell even I don't like the game and I am a huge metroid fan, but the suit design never bothered me in fact I like it, many people just hate it because it's from other M and some genuinely don't like it and thats ok.
That's not true, I only b***h about Other M
That's canonically the most recent standard version of the suit before Fusion. It still hasn't fully healed by the end of Dread either.
Binding of Isaac Rebirth
Mostly obsolete gameplay-wise, but aesthetic-wise, ABSOLUTELY the FRICK not.
Pic unrelated?
If you think that random pile of pixels on the right is acceptable, then you are completely delusional.
soulless vs soul
>frick up an image
>SEE? SEE? IT'S SHIT
left = forced soul, flat design, ruins the surprise
right = SOVL
this isnt real btw
Huh?
why did you post an entirely unrelated frame?
Okay now what?
i successfully baited you into posting the source material so i dont have to look it up on youtube
thx
wew epic trolled XD here's more homosexual i just want to post some mario rpg
ya ur sneething pretty hard so it was worth it
i put in a week of PTO for the game and am buying the collector's edition+ tip
bet u feel rly dum rn lmao
i think you need to go back
since we are cursed to deal with this piece of shit remake can we at least have a more BiS-esque bowser instead of generic New saga bowser?
>shit remake
Gonna have to try harder than that.
anon don't care if my opinion makes you anal, just giving some ideas for animations.
nice soulslop you got there
I'm learning Japanese, why the frick is Koopa written in Katakana?
Most foreign or fantasy style names will be written in katakana. Only actual japanese names will be written in hiragana/kanji.
Makes sense
Still fricks me when I see logos written in Katakana tho, but I guess It's just an stylistic choice there
That's because Katakana is sharper than Hiragana. So for the impact of a high energy anime soccer game you'd go with katakana to get a really bold, sharp look to the logo to push that feeling. It's one of the things the Japs excel at. They make some of the most beautiful logos making full use of their entire writing system to pick what works best.
Bowser's name in Japanese is King Koopa
It sorta was here too for a while. I don't understand how that happened considering the original NES manual had him labeled as Bowser.
Shut up Black person.
Oh the hammer bros wear shoes now.
This wasn't in the trailer, where are you getting these new pictures?
On Nintendo's Japanese site they have a few more screenshots not shown in the trailer.
Surprised they were still allowed to retain most of their original designs (black helmets/shoes, throwing wooden hammers) instead of just swapping them for pic related like Superstar Saga DX did.
That’s the same design though? The big difference is that the rpg remake hammer bros have shoes now because the modern hammer bro wears shoes. Both didn’t back when Mario rpg originally released
Cool HD Beezos
soulless UI
forced character design
tendies will suck it up though
>forced character design
Are you guys just asking AI to make up words or something now?
Sometimes I wonder how many posts on Ganker are made from bots/chatgpt.
Anon, we're just vectors for memes. Every post is a repost of reposts mishmashed with more reposts.
I love that "artificial soul/forced soul" completely killed "soul" as a generalization term when describing video games, about fricking time too.
anon it only made it worse.
It really didn't. Nobody takes anyone using the term seriously now and it's hilarious.
No ever did. It was all self contained threads circlejerking the same low polygon screenshots.
I prefer when it was soul and sovl.
Now it's clear why you discord troons forced the meme. You just hate people who have souls.
At least you still have discord troon for a buzzword
The common anon who finds something to b***h and complain about
Will the frog still cum to attack?
>marxist soul
Totk
What the frick is this schizo spammer's deal?
Snoys are unhinged
I like the final boss battle.
P3P
The original looks like a naturalistic pile of toys in a box, while the remake looks like a perfectly geometric and unnatural stack of stiff game assets.
Agreed, anon.
Literally this. What the frick is happening to everything? Why is everything getting worse?
easy, back then you needed talent to program something for a 16bit console.
Nowadays any homosexual can download blender and start farting models.
The only issue is that in the original it looks like the Peach doll is sitting naturally instead of standing.
I agree with you, even if in both boxes there's the same amount of toys our imagination sure does fill the gap with things that are not there.
best post in thread, op in shambles + trans
Right still looks better.
The EA was really bad, but after the patches and DLC this blows MOO2 so fsr out of tge water, it aint even funny.
Are there sexy mrrshan spies now?
who would win? jinx or the master?
excited to see my favorite koopas again
I miss the little ships having fuel, though. And the Yes song at the ending.
I never tried the remaster, they didn't negotiate for the song wtf?
They must be using original art or renders. You can pick out peach, Samus, and maybe the Famicom disc system mascot, but no way in hell anyone ever noticed the stunt racer fx car.
i don't think anyone knew that the orange thing was the famicom dude before this
They nerfed her so hard bros...
Wow that is animated poorly.
Lost the jiggle, got thighs and g-string. I'd say it's an almost equal trade.
>g-string
???
was moronic, forgot that refers to bikinis. Just that you can see her panty strings from the side, with surprising detail, so maybe not as great of a trade.
Still good. Love side tie panties
Jiggle is still there just toned down
Watched the trailer, there's no jiggle.
Get your eyes checked.
It's literally not there. You can post a web or gif to prove me wrong.
I'd just be posting the same clip you say doesn't have it.
Point it out because nobody can see it except you.
?t=75
feel free to respond with >d-doesn't count or whatever moronation you're going to spout
Literally nothing is jiggling.
her boobs are slowly moving in that image
also pretty sure the jiggle animation is when she attacks anyway which wasn’t shown
She's moving her torso from side to side as her idle animation, but she doesn't jiggle when she gets hit
That string is just part of her dress.
There is no jiggle anon.
There is jiggle, watch the trailer again. When she takes damage her breasts do in fact jiggle.
Her whole torso recoils and takes the breasts with it, that's different from the breasts jiggling.
If you say so.
Nta but you're wrong, there is zero jiggle. Who the frick cares, though?
It may surprise you to learn that she always had those.
they could have removed her breasts completely like other companies have done
Imagine if the Crash 4 team were responsible for redesigning her.
who cares, she's fricking ugly anyway
I really hate this animation. A lot of the animations in the game are really weird in fact.
weird is fun
That's the car from Stunt Race FX. Talk about soooooooooouuuuuulllllllll
Him
I'm really curious about what they're gonna do with him. He was designed as a 2D entity incompatible with Mario's 3D world. His sprites were hand drawn pixel sprites, as opposed to the rest of the game's digitized 3D models.
What will they do for the remake?
HD2D
I guess that's about all they could do.
>he upgrades himself to look like the original game
>he's mad to find out that he's still streets behind
Just make him an enormous super detailed sprite like an Octopath Traveler boss. Same gimmick, updated to be topical.
GIRUGAMESH!
I hope they give us HD art and don’t just reuse the sprites
>He was designed as a 2D entity incompatible with Mario's 3D world.
i think you are reading too much into it.
No, that's literally in the Japanese dialogue, it's quite explicit but they changed it in the English localization to be more vague.
https://legendsoflocalization.com/culex-is-quite-different-in-japanese-super-mario-rpg/
>WOOSLEY TRANSLATION IS KIN-ACK!
And all the spergs will complain when we get an actual direct translation but it doesn't contain LE DILDO!!!! XDDD
what the frick, the translation is pure fanfiction, i thought they only started doing this recently
Translations back then were even worse because of harsher limitations on what Nintendo would allow in games along with character limits, since you can't say as much with one letter like you can with a single kanji.
Woosley was a homosexual
>You spoony bard!
spoony bard is an accurate translation.
I've never seen the adjective "spoony" used in anything but ff4. I think Woosley made it up.
https://www.dictionary.com/browse/spoony
He did not.
>Spoony: Adjective
>Sentimentally or foolishly amorous
Man why did I never finish SMRPG, anyway thanks a lot I never would have imagined such an enemy, hope they keep faithful to the original meaning.
In defense of the English translation, the mention of antimatter opened up an entire rabbit hole of physics for my child mind. The line was a great fight opener.
calling it a translation is giving it a little too much credit
They translated extremely well in terms of what all the words meant, but literally every cultural reference went over their head.
Well. I guess I can't argue with that.
There's at least one new battle mechanic in some kind of universal gauge that charges up, but what it does is anyone's guess right now.
I sure hope they bring that line back just because it feels fitting for his fight somehow, if you don't know the context behind "muh 3D form = power"
New art render drawn by Amano himself
Hopefully make him a highly detailed 3D model with individual strands of hair and also incompatible with the cartoony art style, and also have him comment about how he's back.
He'll look like he belonged in the FF3 Remake
holy soul
Hes going to look like some garbage straight from octo path. God i hate octo path
completely redo the fight to have multiple phases. first phase is the original fight as is with the exact original sprite. second phase has him with a huge HD2D style sprite.
Rather than being a sprite, I expect it to be just as hyper detailed as modern FF is nowadays. Still out of place, but I am sure that was part of the intent, not to make it based on their then-basic understanding of 3D design. I also expect more FF-like Cinematic boss attacks, too. Alongside some of those modern particle effects for some attacks.
>devil kazuya
hes not in
I’d sooner expect grate guy casino not to be in
inb4 “they made it anime”
Dogshit
It even runs worse and drops to 350p resolution
Did they show the combat menu? Does it have the XABY formatting? I always loved that.
Also did they say anything abotu the weird boost meter?
They did not.
Damn, hopefully they discuss a bit more before it comes out. Pretty excited but honestly if they make it worse by removing the cool shit I may have to pass.
There's plenty of months left for advertising to show more about it.
>Does it have the XABY formatting?
Bowyer will be weird without
Why isn't Mario allowed to peace anymore?
It means “victory” in Japan, not “peace” so idk maybe they’re pozzing out who knows. Maybe they’re trying to show you Mario isn’t bald (I always thought he was).
Because of Miyamoto's autism, anons.
I kind of hate Miyamoto these days.
Never once did anyone on Earth think “huh, that peace sign guy with the mustache.” Never happened.
apparently is a japanese thing
everybody has always known mario for the jump though.
Touche
Good riddance
that's actually pretty smart
Geno is so gay
no the frick it doesnt moron stop making shit up
BOO
What an ugly design
Mario Mandate
it's a white supremacist symbol
i'm biased but i preffer New's victory pose over the classic peace sign, it feels more Mario and less "generic victory sign".
He was "peacing" in Mario world after every level
Miyamoto saw that TIME TO TAKE A PEES video
Right feels so much moodier and more foreboding thanks to it's use of THE COLOR BLACK, which is completely missing from all modern games.
mario just does more with his hat now a days
I hope the charades and cute animations aren't lost in the jump to 3d
Not sure why’d you think that when the reveal showed that those are intact
How does Bowser cry look? Dont remember seeing
The trailer showed off a bunch of them, so I think they did a solid job capturing the same vibe. My only gripe is them taking away Mario's victory peace sign, but outside of that this looks beautiful.
prease understando low budget company
I just now realize smithy's mooks are all weapons cause hes a blacksmith
He’s also robot Santa.
NOOOOOOO YOU CANT JUST MAKE FUN OF THE FINAL BOSS LIKE THAT
I wonder how they'll handle that background in the remake, the creepy as frick giant head just looking straight at you is one of those unsettling early 3D visuals like a fair amount of what you see in late SNES and early PS1 games.
moodless mood
I've thought the remake looked fine until I saw this. The enemy went from intimidating to goofy looking.
japan about to make a comeback
Mario no longer supports peace.
The red maga hat is cooler
>red maga hat
God left is so soulless
Background is entirely ruined
He became soulless
If I had to guess, I'd blame it on the sign becoming associated with their porn.
Dragon's Trap
>some want rosalina to be the higher being geno serves
Please no. Stop trying to force rosalina into shit unrelated to her just because it’s soace related.
You are fricking delusional if you think they won't shoehorn rosalina into the star road section in SOME capacity.
I don’t buy it. It’d also be an annoying retcon since she originally only visited earth every 100 years.
>Mario
>Timeline
The Mario RPG remake takes place in the post reset universe created at the end of Galaxy 1 instead of the original universe. There's your canon explanation, you fricking autist.
A wish on star hill maybe
It would be fine if they made the higher power from Star Road the seven Star Spirits from Paper Mario
Trials of Mana. Better in every way. The only thing it's missing is multiplayer but lets be honest, nobody here plays multiplayer outside of MMR online matchmaking.
The remake looks too sterile and clean and I don't like it
is this what anons mean when they say soulless
exactly
Now you're getting it
You can't get more sterile and clean than the original game's models.
The original Bowser render was creepy.
And that’s a good thing
Why does Bowser look like lots of bees stung his mouth?
You are moronic
That's not terile at all
It's full of soul
Look at that shading look at those unique expressions on everyone look at those charming muppet proportions to appeal to a toddler audience(which is the MAXIMUM SOUL AUDIENCE)
The remake looks exactly like the original's artstyle. Mario, Bowser, and Peach look more modernized but that's the only significant difference. Look at how well this captures the style of the original and compare it to something like the Spyro remakes where the art style is utterly raped.
You don't know what soul is and you're trying too hard to fit in.
>The remake looks exactly like the original's artstyle.
Frick off you gaslighting Black person
>The remake looks too sterile and clean and I don't like it
it literally fricking looks indentical. I have never seen a single remake that looked so close to the original, unless it was just a resolution bump with no changes.
yeah they tried to mimic the style. but thats it, it looks just mimiced, the original personality isnt here, or at least only partially. they at least tried to not mess too much with the music. it looks like one of those "remade in unreal engine" youtube videos of games like FF9 recently, which just ends up looking like a generic mess
>"It looks too sterile and clean"
>Original game swapped out hand drawn animation for sterile, static, clean pictures of 3D models
Idiot.
AM2R
Last of Us Pt 1
Nier Replicant
Hope there’s a hard mode, more enemies, and a bonus dungeonX
Live-A-Live had a whole new final boss section
This is a full 3D game, Anon. Why would they add a 2D-HD form of Culex? When their goal was to make the boss as Final Fantasy-like detailed and out of place as possible. Not to simply to scan an Amano piece into the game as the boss and call it a day.
I am this anon
I stand corrected. This is pretty amazing. Hope they do fix that part of the script to be like the original, then.
Yeah, the Japanese script is hilarious.
Well I'd hope they bother. The two M&L games got entire side stories with new modes. I don't expect that at all here, but something
>I would put money on it being Toad with the bazooka so they could pay off on that joke after all these years.
Would be funny, yeah. I'm hoping they round it out with another boss/villain party member like Belome. Or even Punchinello or Croco, but Belome feels more fitting with his temple and worshippers.
>a new party member
Johnny or bust
I hope the hard mode is something more than something that just makes the game longer, like the Link’s Awakening remake hard mode just makes hearts not drop.
God instruction manuals are peak SOUL
Also shows how games were meant to look like
It would be extremely strange to get weird new battle mechanics as new content but no new dungeons, bosses and a rebalancing to the game. But I also wouldn't put it past them to frick shit up lol.
Hope so too anon but not expecting anything besides the new battle mechanic and visuals. The one thing going for it is it's a short game even by snes era rpgs standards.
Exiting the forest is super simple:
All you do is follow these path turns
For the rest of your gaming life
Give me my frying pan and parasolllllllll. ohhhhh~
Tetris, any of them.
Is that car with eyes a reference to that FX chip game?
>Upon defeat, he recognizes the party's strength and positive energy, and he and his pocket dimension disappear until the day he finally gains the solidity of the third dimension
What if he’s in 3D and his dialogue is changed to imply he fought Mario before and returned after mastering this new form?
pure, unfiltered, RAW kino. So we won't get that.
well frick me then that's pretty fricking based, the more you know.
that nip version is terrible thank goodness localization loses japan's autism
The left actually looks like shit
>no?
yes?
Did you just choose to forget that she's the sequel bait? The luma in bowser's castle?
OMG MARIO JUST LIKE WHEN THINGS WERE GREAT IN MY CHILDHOOD PLAYING MY NES YES YES YES!!!! OMG I REMEMBER IT NOW BING BING AHAHHAHAH
Mental breakdown
OMG SHUT UP BOOMER MY CHILDHOODANDNEW GAMES ARE STILL GOOD, YOU ARE JUST OLD AND JADED
*eats the goyslop*
>NES
Geno haters are confirmed zoomers.
I cant get over 13 superjumps
The game is easy enough you don't need the super suit
yes, but now you can see valentina's side-tie panties
I fukkin love side-ties
HER BARE SIDE LEGS
>mallow in the middle
NGMI
>he didn't put mallow in the middle
You didn't beat Dodo.
>go in underleveled i.e. don't know fire orb
>this guy pushes my shit in
Man. Doesn't help that his bomb throw could be spammed indefinitely since it isn't tied to FP or anything, he did it like five turns in a row. Theoretically the AI could just spam that and it'd be unwinnable.
forgot pic
he's a gatekeeper if you're bad at jump timing or didn't grind hard enough
Guys, you're forgetting something super important here.
Modern Treehouse Localization.
Yes that WOULD be a disaster, IF this game is being done by Nintendo. If Square Enix is doing it however, it should mostly be fine, based on recent remasters they've done.
It's Mario. You know Nintendo is going to insist on doing the localizations.
They certainly didn't do that with the original.
That was a different time, Anon.
See
And
https://legendsoflocalization.com/the-pop-culture-obsessed-monsters-in-japanese-super-mario-rpg/
This was a SNES game that got a Woolsey translation. It was never accurate in the first place.
Yes naturally but the point that anon is making is Treehouse will 100% go out of its way to buttfrick the localization if they're in charge of it, whereas if Square Enix is in charge of it there's actually a decent chance of it being better.
>playing SMRPG in non-jp languages
disgusting
So are zoomers already pretending they always loved SMRPG now? I remember this game getting lambasted (none of them played it) just because he shall not be named was involved in rosterhomosexualery.
wow i cant believe mentally ill smashBlack folk dont represent the average gamer thats crazy
>blatantly lying for attention
FF7R
What's the deal with the rainbow area? There wasn't anything like that in the original that I remember. And this is specifically the light blue star, which Mario and Mallow get before Geno joins.
Maybe they're re-working Star Hill to be a bit more interesting?
Star Hill was the purple star, unless they're shuffling the colors.
Yeah, that's what I mean. Or maybe it's just decoration or fill a similar mechanic as these doors?
yeah this place fricking SUCKED ASSSSSSSSS. I hope they do something with it.
what are you talking about star hill is one of the best places in the game
>star hill
>sucks
You DID go through and make a note of everybody's wishes and go help grant them and then come back and read the updated wishes, right?
Might be just an intro cinematic bit.
Anon... Mallow and Geno for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 6. There are two character slots left in the roster, so...
Imagine the reaction from Diddy Kong and Pauline fans who are anticipating them but they could definitely cross promote SMRPG with 8 Deluxe by include Geno and Mallow, I could see it happening
I assume it's the start of Geno's new special move, you go from that to him pulling out both guns later in the trailer
I'm assuming instead of a pointless 'hold y to max damage' an equally pointless cutscene plays now
PapaGenos theorized it being a Triple Tech like Chrono Trigger or a Limit Break involving the whole party
Game is already pretty easy without buffs and screen nukes. I really hope we have some "hard mode", even if it just high numbers to make you need them to survive.
That makes the most sense, there’s the Bowser one with Mario and Mallow in his clown car too. Probably party specific triple attacks with a cinematic.
Geno confirmed for Mario Kart
Maybe that, like in the Paper Mario games, getting a Star unlocks a special move.
Have we seen the axem rangers yet?
kirby superstar ultra
improved visuals and the game adds so much more content after beating the original main subgames
i can't see myself ever playing the original over the remake
it just makes it feel incomplete after seeing everything that was added in the ds version
it controls like actual ass though
the ds/3ds had a really poor control scheme and it doesn't work for half the games nintendo ported over to it (sm64 is atrocious on 3DS)
I disagree I thought it worked
It controls like every other Kirby game.
The visuals for the most part are just reused from the GBA games
No? Absolutely not. Are you blind?
I suppose he means the aesthetic of the sprites.
That's true, yeah.
And that’s a good thing since most of Ganker lately has been about MUH SOUL, the NSMB Era really mindbroke you guys huh
The creators of Star Control 2 have said that the fan remake is the objectively superior version. Pretty based to let the fans get access to the source code and greenlight them making a more polished version of your game out of dedication.
Who's the jigsaw puzzle looking thing? i know the red car is from Stunt Race FX.
That's Diskun, he was the famicom's mascot.
I see, thanks.
holy shit that's what they were supposed to be?
WAKE UP GRASSHOPPER, ADVENTURE CALLS
what emulator/filter is this?
retroarch with megabezel
so is this a 1:1 remake or it will feature new things? like what capcom did with RE
if that shit is true about timed hittings just hitting every enemy then the game is ruined
I'm not sure how true it is, the only one that ever seems to do it is Mario with a shell weapon
the way this remake looks is horrible. from the super bright flat lighting on everything, to the attack and movement speeds, to the character models, to the lazy UI compared to the og X Y Z A button prompt one, to how they added AOE to attacks and a weird meter that will obviously make the fights way more trivial.
chances of this being playable day one on pc?
come on, anon, be reasonable.
it'll be out on pc before it's even out on switch
The game visuals aren't that great when compared to the SNES and the original had much better co-op, cutscenes, and overall soundtrack.
XC1 DE overall fricked up with the lightning given things don't have any shadows anymore while making everything too bright and colorful when the original had a much better use of colors.
They also ruined engage the enemy
What an abhorrent fricking post. have a nice day
I simply listed actual reasons why the original isn't obsolete. No need to get upset that the remakes aren't really perfect.
Don’t mind me, just being based
Already have 100 hours clocked into this game
>ugly western art
shut up weeb
>NOOOOOOOO YOU CANT HAVE JAPANESE THINGS IN JAPANESE VIDEO GAMES I NEED IT TO BE AMERICANIZED FOR MY TASTES
your remake is dogshit
Relax it’s just a video game
is that what this is from? because the bottom looks like dogshit. it's a straight downgrade in everything from the units to the CO models like how do you make it look so much worse and WHY?
Western shiteaters love their Gankershit
>Worrying about graphics
>Doesn’t know about AI cheating in the fog in the original which is fixed in the remake
So you like to parrot what other people say I see
Or maybe he has taste and doesn't like playing ugly westernshit.
>being based
>A year late
>souless models
>censorship
>youtube VA
>poor performance
>online mode that's an afterthought
Fricking embarrassing effort
I will be so glad when the remake's out and there's actual 3D with an analog stick instead of everything being designed around a diagonal grid.
There is nothing wrong with hard to find hidden secrets as long as they are optional, which thy are. In fact its a very good thing.
I wonder if the one missable one, the one you get when you first enter the castle and jump off Toad, will be changed in any way
The remake looks too bright to me.
I'll let you know if it ever happens.
I’m only excited about this if they add new side quests or some kinda new shit
I think they might do something considering they went as far as to add a new feature to the combat. But I wouldn't expect anything huge.
NOA is probably going to insert their own self cannon into the game again.
>Mario House instead of Pipe House
AAAAIEEEEE
What the frick is a MarioHouse anyway.
Itty bitty Mario, itty bitty pipe
I don't believe it
HABEEB IT
It's like Kame House, but Mario.
OMG IS THAT A FAMICOM REFERENCE?
MANDATES BROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKEN
>Yo'ster's Isle
>the tutorial tells you to press A and B in sync with the cymbal crashes
>during the practice gameplay this doesn't work, have to press rapidly to the rhythm like 16th notes for Toad to pass you
>during the actual race it works as described, even though the practice beforehand does not work that way, and the doing it the way that passes the practice will make Yoshi stall out/start jumping
>except if the cymbal crashes stop then it's like the game doesn't know what to match the rhythm to and you will slow down no matter what
press B > A > B > A instead
literally never lost
Did they show Booster's face? I only watched the trailer and didn't see if there was a gameplay vid. And is the music untouched? Because it should be
yeah, look in a mirror
>And is the music untouched? Because it should be
No its not and no it shouldn't, its being re-arranged by Shimomura herself which is based.
sounds like garbage, like some unfinished alpha demo of the original
shit taste, based shimomura is the GOAT and never disappoints
Nu-Shimomura is cancer
She ruined KH HD Remix soundtracks, she ruined Xenoblade tracks in DE, she ruined Live-A-Live Remake soundtrack
Yet another contrarian on Ganker that thinks having a shit opinion makes his petty existence matter.
>never disappoints
Teehee Valley in the Superstar Saga remake sucks ass. Don't know how she shit the bed so hard on that one.
>this live instrumental sounds like an unfinished alpha of a yamaha keyboard soundfont filtered by a SNES sound chip
nintendo addiction has made you moronic
>Muh live instrument means it's le better
Literally have a nice day
With live instruments you're so limited because you have a limited amount of recording sessions
>Did they show Booster's face?
Not yet
>And is the music untouched?
Shimomura is making the new arrangements
>watch trailer
>they fricked the great music the original had
>sounds like some guy fricking a trumpet
Was it too much to ask to just copy paste or are they too lazy?
I dunno, you should ask the composer who did the original and came back to do the remake too
Didn't even need to watch the trailer to know they were going to ruin the soundtrack by making it all orchestral meme music. It was as inevitable as the shitty toy aesthetic they love so much these days.
Panzer Dragoon.
Fat Yoshi in?
i absolutely gurantee you OP this mario rpg remake isn't going to make the original mario rpg obsolete.
It will be overly easy thanks to dumb new gimmicks and a lazy cash grab with shitty UI and bad models.
soulless vs soul
none
>that car
Holy shit I just remembered Stunt Race FX exists and I rented it back in the day
i recognized the car but didn't know from where
L4D2
Allegedly, the Super Mario RPG remake is going to be 8 GB. I don't have a source currently, but how would we feel if that ended up being the case?
There's no fricking way this game is over 4GB unless it's built in UE4 like utter morons.
>Allegedly, the Super Mario RPG remake is going to be 8 GB. I don't have a source
Then it's not true.
Sounds fine, honestly would expect they added stuff at that size it was a very short game.
>8GB
No way.
>on 8GB card (i.e. over 3.8GB for the game itself - metadata CXIs are ~200MB ish)
Possible.
Unless modern SE really is just that shit at compression, assuming that they didn't hand development off to a third party.
https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/super-mario-rpg-switch/
>Game file size: 8 GB
I wonder if the majority of its size is pre-rendered cutscenes, especially since they seem to be at 60 FPS
It's going to be full of over-animated cutscenes nobody asked for
>over-animated
moron.
They will be over-animated based on the trailer's cutscenes. What's your point?
There is no way that they went that far with pre-rendered scenes. I mean, sure that is going to be
>Peach getting kidnapped
>Exor slamming into the castle
>Mario being thrown back to his house
>Mallow falling down the stairs chasing after Croco
>Geno inhabiting the doll
>Bowser busting down Booster Tower door
>Yaridovich transformation
>Peach sailing down to meet Mario
>Falling into the Volcano
>Blade coming to pick up Axem Rangers
>Group getting sucked into Exor Mouth
>Smithy blowing up
>A scene for everytime Mario gets a Star
It isn't really a whole lot.
Maybe the strongest skills will be cutscenes now? Several scenes in the trailer seemed like attacks. Either that or there are completely new events (like Bowser shown carrying everyone in the Koopa clown car).
Would be nice to get our hopes up for new content but links awakening was 5.9 gn
They removed content to add that dungeon maker and it's still 6gb
>literally 1000 times the size of the original
for an rpg in hd thats a bad sign, expect barebones shallow trite with no new content unless making the game way easier is new content to you
I think you underestimate the magic of Nintendo devs when it comes to file compression
Even then I just can't imagine it going all the way up to 8 GB. Maybe they'll have added some extra shit? Maybe have a post game?
Actually, something I just was thinking about: did they show the world map at all during the trailer?
Yeah they probably could have made the backgrounds more universal like the sky and space ones but sometimes these will trigger inside a sunken ship or during a wedding so I guess they just figured screw it make them fun animated visual moments in various random environments because they’ll rarely make sense in the context of the fights anyway.
Soul vs Soulless
REmake
>no more titty jiggle
>everything looks too bright and cartoony
>garbage orchestral remixes of the OST
If they let us use the original soundtrack then it would be a lot better.
Now listen here you goddamn zoomers
This is what SOUL looks like
Imagine how awesome it would've been if they just translated the original renders into 3D in game...
translation?
>The fricking original box had a stunt race FX car this entire time
I never understood that jumble of pixels until now, holy shit
You know what's scary. It means that someone at SE still has the original design documents or actually knew what was supposed to be in the box. Imagine, SE actually preserved something from the SNES days.
I’d like to imagine Nintendo kept it even if they themselves didn’t make the game.
Doesn’t seem like something post Mario 64 Mario would do
Diablo 2 resurrected
You can play it with the original graphics
>grab 20 years old usb
>plug it in
>open ROM
>enjoy the game
I wouldn't call it obsolete.
Never liked how Nimbus Land was the last major town. I don't know how the frick you'd have a town (As in not just some NPC selling you shit) in Bowser's Castle or Foggy Machine Frick You Land but make it happen Nintendo.
>I don't know how the frick you'd have a town (As in not just some NPC selling you shit) in Bowser's Castle
maybe a forward camp of bowser's troops posed to take back the castle? lots of
>yikes! it's mario! uh, i mean... good work out there
>boy am i glad we're in here and you're out there and you're on our side
etc
i dont like the bowser model
its just modern bowser
no attempt to chibi him up like the original did
>Remakes
I don’t think its ever happened. Every remake has its downsides compared to the original. Certain ports have gotten there (for example, modern Doom ports) but that’s because it’s just the same game but with more options. Any time you touch graphics, you’ve immediately created a divide among subjective lines. If you touch gameplay, even just fixing glitches or adding QoL, there’ll always be a compelling reason to go back to the original (see Resident Evil big box vs non-dualshock Directors Cut debates over autoaim).
metroid zero mission
there is no good reason to play the original over it, aside from speedrunning
Playing without a map for your first experience is pretty cool.
Are you prepared to say goodbye a second time? Hearing and seeing this remastered may cause unintentional tears.
?t=13331
The right looked a lot better on older televisions.
CRT did wonders.
>muh magical crts
no
Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
the original looks like shit. specifically canine shit.
The funniest part is that rob is there toon even in the originals. Best seen when booster picks up the peach doll
>red star will finally get a proper send off in the remake
Honestly waiting for a Let's Destroy the Shagohod! remake.
More party members would be cool
Or the option to not have Mario as the forced lead. Would lead to some interesting party combinations f
luigi as secret party member
Thanks for the video idea boys. EZ $4k.
Coolest motherfricker in a mario rpg game
is this game fun? i'm genuinely asking
Yes
its an extremely fun snes jrpg, go emulate it now and play it tonight if you havent
yes and short enough you could play through it in a few days, really picks up after third party member.
play it and form your own opinion
I never noticed the Diskun
How is this game for giving the Mario universe a interesting and consistent narrative?
I was disappointed playing Mario and Luigi SS and realizing it's plot is basically non-existent.
It's clear aside from some design guidelines for the main cast they actually had freedom here.
they took the soul out of the game
>they took the soul out of the game
>One of their party members is a puppet with a soul inside it
Factually untrue
NO FRICKING SOUL
>buzzwords
