I honestly can't tell which side is the "communist" side in the Ostania/Westalis conflict, because Ostania is obviously to the east, but Donovan Desmond, the bad guy Twilight is trying to infiltrate, is the leader of the far right, so he's obviously not a commie.
I think it's more that, Ostania is kinda east Germany/USSR/Commie block with Nazi Germany tendencies. While Westalis is Brits, Frenchies, Americans, etc.
