Hello zoomer, no, the Classic ReBirth repack you played is NOT what the original ports were.
RE1 won't run on anything other than a Pentium 1 with 133MHz tops, it has glitches and crashes not present on PS1 version, its use of DirectX is horrible and it was specifically designed for a handful of GPUs on the market at the time and has poor compatibility with DirectInput in general.
RE2 has a barely better GPU support, the save system is completely fricked and is the worst in history of PC games. It is hardcoded to act like it is necessarily installed in a FAT32 drive and tries its best to bypass the file system which is utterly ridiculous.
RE3 performs a little better, but has random freezes without hardware accelerated sound which was dropped after XP.
The SourceNext versions of 2 and 3 were released in 2006 and that is what classic rebirth uses.
Spain doesn't like anything like the original game. It's not a gray shitshole like depicted in Resident Evil 4 OG. If it's further in the north of the country, even less so. And it doesn't even make any sense in the context of the game since Las Plagas don't infect vegetation so all this dead murky setting is nonsense. Your analogy is backwards.
Are you saying it's never autumn in Spain? Cause all it is, it's fricking autumn so the leaves fell off the tree

Not in August for sure. And even during autumn you never see everything so dried and dead unless you're down south.

>August
That revision came out in 2015. Until then it was just fall, it's obviously an oversight and a dumb one at that. You're arguing that Spain never has fall, so here's a picture that looks very similar to the PS2/gc version. And yes it's oversaturated you literally can't find a picture of fall thats not oversaturated on Google. Keep trying to argue your shit point, a rainy/overcast day in Spain would look like og re4

Regardless of the precise date, this is what Castile and Leon look like during autumn. Nothing like what is depicted in Resident Evil 4 OG. Heck not even your photo looks like it. The remake did a much better job faithfully representing its setting.

Not on an overcast day moron. Holy shit idk how you called still just lie through your teeth. >Spain never has cloudy days, it's always sunny and look at this sunny picture I picked to prove my point.
I posted a picture that actually looks re4 and is in Spain. It's a videogame, not a geography documentary. Next are you going to go all autistic about hows there is no jungles in Russia like there are in mgs3? >Every videogame has to be 100% accurate to real life or else it's not good
That's what you're argument is.

Yeah no shit? OG RE4 didn't try to be a generic realistic setting. It's a universe with fantasy monsters
Remake is pure trash and just lazily reused Village and 7 assets that don't look like the RE4 bog
What, it looks like it's not even in the same country anymore. It's not nitpicking, nitpicking is people complaining that the PS2 port is like this fricking awful mess full of bugs or someshit, when it's fine. This is similar to people complaining why there are candles lit in REmakes Spencer mansion full of zombies. And it's true, wtf, completely destroyed the atmosphere(even though I do like remakes atmosphere, it's not very resident evil as we used to know it) of the 1970s tacky mansion, which i thi k is way better than the now titled "Disney's haunted mansion" in REmake. Why did they make it look like he's in upstate New York?
>nitpicking
The forest is the most iconic thing about RE4 and the remake changes everything about it and doesn't understand the original's atmosphere at all
I remember putting up with it just because someone made a style switching mod for it. It was super hacky too I think style switching replaced the pause button or something.
>What are the worst PC ports of retro games?
Halo 1 PC was pretty bad >the worst net code in history >co-op removed >graphics worse than Xbox >animations look like shit above 30fps
I'm not sure about the remaster, but the older pc port of Bloodrayne 2 is kinda bad. Alot of things were just plain broken compared to the console ports. >broken harpoon physics >gun modes never seem to upgrade >Master cheat options list cut down (actually understandable, but still) >having a save with the completed game doesn't unlock the extras on startup.
The only thing the pc version fixed was an infinite blood fury glitch.
The True crime gameshave have impressively awful pc ports. Everything from graphics, performance, controls are all fricked. They use fricking bink audio files for fricks sakes.
True Crime LA on PC was godawful.
- Low quality graphics, no shaders like console version
- Missing sound effects
- Stutterfest
- Flickering lights
- Forced mouse acceleration
- Flaming dragon boss fight is tedious and console players won't struggle due to auto aim
Yeah pc bros got fricked over with this one. I played it when I was 6 and i was blown away how cool the game is. And then years later I find out that it's a console game and the console port looks...completely different.
Most PC ports prior to VGA and Adlib becoming standard were pretty shit due to how woefully unsuited for gaming early PCs were. You'd just about rather play a multiplatform game on literally anything else.
I remember getting this back in 2013 on steam and thought it would be better than the xbox because of the controls and addition of head tilting. It kept crashing once I entered the cellar and after patching it the dialogue never finished their sentences. Also, if you want more options for the patch you have to replace the executable with the retail version.

Is it possible to create a portable version of SADX with all the mods? I just want to have a folder where everything is already set up and i don't have to tinker with it every time i want to play it in the future.
I mean that's up there, the original pc port of RE4 is beyond godawful. Which is wierd because 1-3 had really good ports.
It's the only version I have played. What am I missing out on?
He's probably talking about the first PC port, on 2007. I've always read you could only play it with the keyboard, no mouse aiming.
I see, thanks. I didn't have that problem.

Still better then the shitmake
>ruins your forest atmosphere with huge ass stone walls
>walls
It isn't even walls but random debris that serendipitously form a path. And the rocks look like PS3 on top of it
I still don't understand why they turned it into a generic realistic forest and put green vegetation everywhere
>I still don't understand why they turned it into a generic haunted house and put candles everywhere

Reused assets from re7/8
If I wanted pointless nitpicking b***hing, I'd go to normal Ganker.
What, it looks like it's not even in the same country anymore. >The mansion is the most iconic thing about RE1 and the remake changes everything about it and doesn't understand the original's atmosphere at all
Which is true. You have no argument, your weak attempt at trolling is a testament to you already taking and accepting the L.
I love how you Ganker toddlers will whine about anything
Why would the main entrance to your village be a narrow little cut between two piles of rocks? Dumb Japs!
So the village can be render culled from a distance. Like MDK and the tunnels between areas.
/v/gays defend this. Also removing Ashley fanservice and making character brown for no reason
Ashley was 10x more flirty in the remake than she was in the original
I want to look up her skirt, I don't want an onlyfans zoomer prostitute
Don't be a consolecuck and you can mod it back in. Plus her breasts are massive.
You have to mod the everliving frick out of San Andreas's pc port just to make it halfway decent.
And it’s still better than the Shitnitive Edition. Rockstar has always been bad at porting stuff to PC.
DMC 3 port was trash
actually Onimusha 3 port was also shit
And then, Megaman X7 appears and gets a terrible port (for an already bad game)
>DMC 3 port was trash
I remember putting up with it just because someone made a style switching mod for it. It was super hacky too I think style switching replaced the pause button or something.
Didn't style switcher basically grow into a proper fix for the game?
how?
consolegays hate computers for that
>NOOO IT DOESN'T COUNT
>What are the worst PC ports of retro games?
Halo 1 PC was pretty bad
>the worst net code in history
>co-op removed
>graphics worse than Xbox
>animations look like shit above 30fps
They made up for it by giving us access to Bungie's own map and tag editing tools
I'm not sure about the remaster, but the older pc port of Bloodrayne 2 is kinda bad. Alot of things were just plain broken compared to the console ports.
>broken harpoon physics

turok evolution didn't even have lightning
The True crime gameshave have impressively awful pc ports. Everything from graphics, performance, controls are all fricked. They use fricking bink audio files for fricks sakes.
Weren't these also awful on console?
Just gamecube
True Crime LA on PC was godawful.
- Low quality graphics, no shaders like console version
- Missing sound effects
- Stutterfest
- Flickering lights
- Forced mouse acceleration
- Flaming dragon boss fight is tedious and console players won't struggle due to auto aim
I ended up beating it though.
Basically anything in the sixth gen. It was the most embarassing time to be a PC-only kid.
And that's assuming the PC version of a game is an actual port of the console game in the first place.
Yeah pc bros got fricked over with this one. I played it when I was 6 and i was blown away how cool the game is. And then years later I find out that it's a console game and the console port looks...completely different.
Maybe, but you could watch porn and browse videogame forums, and at the time i wouldn't have traded it for all the good graphics in the world.
Most PC ports prior to VGA and Adlib becoming standard were pretty shit due to how woefully unsuited for gaming early PCs were. You'd just about rather play a multiplatform game on literally anything else.
PCs were fricking shit for gaming, yeah
Literally every other computer platform was better
Mega Man X7 is already an awful game and the Korean PC port is genuinely a guide on how to not convert a game to Windows.
>game has a shit pc port
>fans turn it into the definitive version of the game
Pretty much any PS2 version of a multiplat is guaranteed to be the worst version
>Half-Life 1 on PS2
>Timesplitter 2 PS2
Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2
>needs a patch to actually be beatable
Yeah, I can tell that only one guy made this port.
I remember getting this back in 2013 on steam and thought it would be better than the xbox because of the controls and addition of head tilting. It kept crashing once I entered the cellar and after patching it the dialogue never finished their sentences. The Chao Gardens are awful on Dreamcast though because you can't even see their stats
Nightfire on PC is godawful.
People would probably play multiplayer if we got the console version.
