I'm pretty sure there's a reason why action games have hitboxes, hurtboxes and iframes instead of being perfectly precise, it probably feels like shit to play if you're taking damage because 1 pixel of steel touches you

Things like iframe rolling doesn't remedy this issue though whenever you're hit outside of the iframes.
But actually avoiding an attack instead of rolling through them is still a lot more satisfying.
Your problem isn't i-frames, your problem is that dodges and attacks are so fricking slow in Souls games that you can clearly see attacks just clip through your character's model because lol invincible.
I-frames are fine on lighting quick dodge moves. It's usually too fast for you to notice if an attack grazes you.
Kanji or whatever jap writing is called is visually offensive. Impressive how capcom thought it was acceptable to show this in a western presentation.

I think the issue is that Lost Planet 1 was the only really successful game. 2 did not review or sell that well despite being a cult classic and 3 was a panned flop.
