I'm playing ultra sun right now.
It's been a fun ride, next I'll finally finish black then play black 2.
After all that I'm going to play XY. I started it before but honestly the intro was so slow and all the friends filtered me before but I'll give it another shot and hope for the best.
My current Alola team is
Grimer
Espeon
Seel
Growlithe
Mawile
Zorua

I'm doing casual battles in SV. My current team is
>Sceptile (w/ Contest Memory ribbon, my oldest Pokemon to date that was able to be transferred)
>Kingdra (from FireRed, no ribbons)
>Electrivire (from Unova, no ribbon)
>Heatran(w/ Living Legend ribbon)
>Zapdos-G (Classic Ribbon, shiny)
>Mew (with Champion ribbon, MYSTRY OT from 2006)
Honestly I don't think I lost that much during the 3DS shutdown, but I think I am going to miss Triple Battles and Battle Royals. While I was yearning for a Battle Frontier, I was blind to the fact that both of these modes had some depth or at least were good enough to warrant playing them consistently and really were what I should have focused on the most in gen 6 and 7.
you though Gen 6 intro was slow, but not 7? Mind you I only played SM, but they're the only games in the series I've never replayed because of how tedious the beginning is. XY are way faster in comparison.
Speaking of, should I play USUM, is it substantially different from SM?
I'm playing Platinum right now, then plan to play BW2, then I want to give Gen 7 another chance so maybe I'll try USUM. I've been away from the series for awhile and just playing a few games.
Current Platinum team is:
>Rinplup
>Murkrow (playing a QoL patch that adds DP exclusives back in)
>Rotom
>Ralts
Found a copy of Sword online for like $20, so I'm gonna be playing that for the first time.
Godspeed anon, My personal recommendation is to take your time, play with the wild area and do some raids in between gyms. probably a me problem but rushing through the galarian routes usually bores me out and makes me drop the run.
All this talk of the 3ds online servers getting shut down made me want to get back at my (emulated) Alpha Sapphire save. Was at Flannery's gym with
>starter Blaziken
>Lombre
>Shedninja
>Swalot
>Seviper
>HM Slave Linoone
it's a mess of a team. But after that I'm thinking of either doing a gen 4 run, either on actual hardware with a copy of Diamond or emulated with Platinum, or touching Quarantine Crystal again since the last time I played was during the three gym demo (I still remember bypassing the wallblock via cheating and still going for the E4 ah ah.)
gonna play through x and omega ruby soon. after that, i want to start making a ribbon master from colo.
one that’s done, i want to go back to gen 3 and 100% it like the frontier and living dex. same with either platinum or heartgold eventually
Trying to do a gen 3 grand chelem including the orre games, and looking for the exclusive ribbons of this gen, hopefully I'll be able to finish before Bank shutdown.
FRLG has been an interesting experience, where more than challenging some gyms feels more like puzzles, like Brock gym is mostly figuring out how to sweep rock types with the limited tools you have in early game, expecially with charmander as a first partner. Also the dungeons there are quite nice and actual mazes, though by now I know them like the back of my hand.
playing platinum right now
Playing Platinum, putting together a team for Pokemon Battle Revolution. I got a Jolly Infernape so I'm grinding her to 100.
After that's all done, shit I guess I'll continue my BW replay
3’11”
Wait. You got filtered by slow story and too much dialog to click through in XY, yet you're surviving in Alola where you can barely take 2 steps without triggering another cutscene for the first hour or so?
Barely started in Renegade Platinum. I also have an unfinished like 2+ month hiatus playthrough of White 2, an unfinished Legends Arceus playthrough, and a Violet playthrough at the beginning of Indigo Disk. I'm adding too much to my plate and my autism keeps making me hyperfixate on one or two games at a time.
The difference is Alola's story is more engaging.
I just finished Moon again. I can't believe people who can't think for themselves let others ruin games for them. They're great. A fantastic roster of characters and Pokemon in an amazing region.
I just got my Festival Plaza to level 100. Now I'm playing through Japanese Colosseum to purify all the Pokemon and get Celebi. After that I'll play through XD if I'm not burnt out or go back to shiny hunting in gen 3. I still have Pokedex to complete and facilities to conquer.
>The difference is Alola's story is more engaging
barely...it still sucks, and I would take 10 minutes shitty cutscenes over like 2 hours just at the beginning of the game. SM have some great things but man they are a pain in the ass to replay
Nothing at the moment. Anyone play any interesting romhacks recently?
Played Mega Moemon Firered recently.
Just finishing up my Ultra Sun dex actually. And I agree. Great region, great game. After this I'm gonna drift back to Platinum to ribbon up a few buddies before shifting them up in preparation for banks eventual end. Plan is ribbons + shinies over the coming months. It's good, honest work
Looking to "complete" Home soon, which involves snagging all the rare abilities and moves from Gen 5-7 that I can't get in the Switch games. There's trackers specifically on the phone app that show your progress. Anyone know if Bank has similar features, because I'll try and do the same there if so
Shiny hunting shit in XY to fill out my shiny 'dex, gonna continue the maractus hunt I'd started last night in Sword, maybe go for one the Galar fossils then.
Playing Let's Go, trying to get a shiny Mewtwo.
I'll just wait for ZA I don't need to play Pokémon every day
>I don't need to play Pokémon
How are you still alive?
Have a few things
>Want to shiny hunt Arceus in BDSP but that means I have to finish PLA so I’m slowly chipping away at that
>In the middle of XY with a friend. Just beat Korrina and released the shilldog.
>Playing Unbound after dropping it for personal life reasons. Pretty fun just got my 4th badge.
>Thinking about playing Violet for the first time. Not sure
I've got a run in UM to finish, I was in the middle of RR. After that I have a mid game X run to pick back up and after I'll go into OR to use a bunch of mons I haven't used.
I wanted to try UM but the damn file size is too big no matter where I look for it.
4gb is too big for my 3ds sd card and I don't want to emulate on my pc.
SD cards are buttons ro be fair.
I'm going to play coloseum soon for the first time any tips?
Give in to the ball dupe glitch. It's takes a lot to suffer through some of the catch rates
Play it on a CRT, it's ok to have something going on in the background, it's hard to grind so stick to small team, and you don't have to finish it in one sitting. It can get tedious because of grinding and slow animations.
>Play it on a CRT
I did this but later got one of those GameCube HDMI adapters that plugs into the digital video out so it isn't trying to convert analog back to digital. Enormous upgrade, everything is so much clearer than even S-video.
The dissolve effects at the start of battle take advantage of CRT flaws which makes them smooth and fluid. It doesn't work on LCD screens.
Jumpluff is one of the best pokemon you can use in that game.
Alola is the best region and it's not even close.
Grinding my Crystal team to Lv100 on Mt. Silver for Stadium 2 and HOLY FRICKING SHIT someone caught PokeRus and spread it throughout the team BASED BASED BASED!
>Feraligatr
>Ursaring
>Togetic
>Heracross
>Sudowoodo
>Jolteon
if you plan on infecting more put one in the pc before they're cured
Already got my ditto infected and chilling in a box. I can't but think it's odd that I never found Pokerus in the 20 years I've been playing pokemon, then get it twice in the span of a year (Ultra Moon).
Been playing different games to and from work for a lil bit now, prioritizing using Pokemon I've never used before and has been really fun. Playing Blue rn and just got Omastar, love his silly sprite!
Not sure what I'll play next, was in the mood to play Pearl but I just gone with Brilliant Diamond. Maybe I'll replay a gen 5 game or Sword/Shield next.
Not to bully but why Hitmonchan? Its gimmick is element punches which are all special in gen 1, yet it has a dogshit special stat. Gen 4 made it more usable due to element punches now being physical.
stfu nerd, let me play what i want.
Anon that posted that team, that's exactly why I wanted to use him. I dunno, I like using shitty pokemon. Plus I've already used Hitmonlee multiple times so why not use the lesser brother? He's got personality :]
I mean, I'm using a Lickitung of all things too.
Yeah that's the other one that seemed dodgy to me. Golbat too kind of but it's not that bad though Crobat was a much needed path to redemption for Zubats everywhere.
I agree, it's fun to use "bad" Pokemon in playthroughs. There's only a few that are so shitty that they're near useless against the npcs in the game.
bump
Still casually messing around in BDSP with the goal of getting the Tower Master ribbon on dexited Gen 1-2 mon.
So far, I have completed:
>Granbull
>Ariados
>Magcargo
>Golem
>Muk
>Parasect
Working on Forretress now.
Never played Gen 7 and am looking to get into it. Should I get Sun or Moon or US or UM?
I haven't played UM yet but US is fun so far.
They have the same story but SM does certain things better, USUM has more available Pokemon, including some (at the time) new Pokemon, and more content. It's just what your personal preference is.
And with better story I mean for Pokemon standards, but that was obvious, I hope.
>SM does certain things better
like what for example?
Champion battle and Lusamine's fate, for example.
yeah what about it?
Completed Sapphie and just started Ruby. Going to complete the gen 3 national dex and use Sapphire as the main game. Will start fire red at some point
I fixed my GBA SP so I'll be playing through my copy of Ruby. I posted a picture of it on /vp/
Just booted up my copy of White to do some transfers through to Bank and Home, and discovered that, despite having beaten the game, I never actually caught Victini. I battled all the way up to it in Liberty Garden, but never caught it - maybe I planned on shiny hunting it back in the day, before I knew any better. What ball should I catch it in? I'm thinking Luxury, need to make up for all this time trapped in the basement
Slowly beginning to realize I don't think I like Pokemon games which is why I have like 5 separate playthroughs going right now. Frick.
