that said i still remember how cool it was turning the corner in the medical hallway (?) and seeing all those little compies chowing down on a body before you scare them off
>the existence of Exoprimal is lowkey-proof that a Dino Crisis remake is in the works.
i wish i could have that kind of hope. i rather just got the impression that Exoprimal WAS supposed to be a Dino Crisis thing that got out of hand, basically like the old RE4/Devil May Cry story. at some point they kept pushing the ideas in a wackier and wackier direction until someone said "alright we'll get fricking blasted if we're still going to call this Dino Crisis at this point so lets just makel it a different IP". if that were the case, at least there would be someone at Capcom that has the mindfulness to preserve DC's image from being sharted up even further than what 3 did and a slight glimmer of hope that that means there is still internal interest in doing a proper new DC thing. but i feel i'll only believe that when i see it.
it was my first ps1 game. also my first exposure to resident evil cause it came with an re3 demo that i probably beat 20 times or so. I was 7 so I thought it was the full game
I remember playing it with my dad. I printed off a guide I found online and we worked our way through it. I've noticed he still says "thats disgusting" mimicking regina some 20 years later, probably doesn't even remember what its from anymore lol.
my favourite moment in it is probably when you turn on the generator and hear gails machinegun fire outside, its very creepy.
THAT moment in the Chief's Room in DC1. I was in my room with my cousins playing while they read a magazine guide, and it scared the shit out of us and we laughed for a long time afterwards.
being chased through rooms for the first time by a raptor in one of the early hallways. I think it was right outside the computer room with the black guy
and DC2 probably the under water section. It wasn't particularly great but i wasn't expecting something like that for the era or that combat system. Similar thing with the triceratops chase later on. DC2 was overall kino af
DC1 is amazing and actually the one that I prefer to replay. One of the best atmospheres I've ever seen in a video game
DC2 is still great though. It used to be the only one I was capable of playing because I couldn't figure out the pathing when I was younger lmao
I played it recently coz i'm going through Mikami's gameography. I liked the exploration and atmosphere but the puzzles were atrocious and repetitive - push the crates, line the crates up with a crane, flip the tiles, push the crates again, line up the tiles again etc. I ended up hating it. Mikami has always had a thing with shitty puzzles (see endless crate pushing nonsense in goof troop, then again in RE etc) but it was taken to the obnoxious extreme in Dino Crisis.
My cousin was 5 years older than me and I first watched him play Dino Crisis when I was 7. Most of it was him walking between hallways, I think there was a dead guy he got a security code from. I remember he was on the roof top. And of course, the T-Rex through the window.
Trex at window was cool as frick

IMO the existence of Exoprimal is lowkey-proof that a Dino Crisis remake is in the works.
As for memories, personally I loved the introduction of the giganotosaurus.

Remake when?
I fapped to the title screen many times as a kid
When the dinosaur jumped through the window.
Why does the dino foot look so weird? Is it scared of stepping in blood?
I always thought he just broke his nail
The scene where you call the elevator and hear a guy getting torn apart on the way down spooked me when I was little

Played it last year on Dreamcast after all the classic RE games and it was trash

trying to shoot that raptor with my handgun at the very start over and over until i realized you have to run

getting a 10+ no hit combo in 2
so you're saying
that you've never seen the blue raptors?
cover art was too spooky to me for when I was a kid, never ended up playing it lmao
Should have bought the American version then
Wow i didn't know ntsc had different cover art. Its fricking awful
Blasting Allosaurus with the anti-tank rifle.
