Warhorse Studio, the dev behind KDC, is pretty much dead. It's the classic tale of group of people that suddenly find financial success in their project, but have no idea what to do with the money they are making. In the same time, everyone and their dog got brain-rot due to their five minutes of internet fame, so they've started to argue and fight each other. The end result is a company "manned" by people who hate each other guts and will never work again (not to mention together), still fighting each other for the scrap money their only game is still trinkling down the pipe, all while half of them are now drug addicts, befitting bunch of idiots that suddenly were making big buck and beer wasn't fun anymore.
That's really sad.
But I suppose that is the fate of all people in a land that has forsaken God.

At least here in the US, most people likely still remember it due to the controversy surrounding the game since the devs were very adamant about only having white people in a game about medieval Europe. """""Historical""""" fiction media made in the Anglosphere at the time (and even today, though to a much lesser extent, picrelated) still often got Netflixed, so doing what KCD did was seen as a bad thing by people who don't even play vidya and just write about it after being rejected by the major news publications.
Besides, KCD WAS a bad game. Just not for the moronic American reasons you've listed. It was horribly bugged, the plot was so thin it would benefit from its removal, and the meme combat system was barely functional for first year or so, and then just became broken after being "patched".

As someone who is half-Czech though, it doesn't surprise me, in the short time I've been to that country it seems everyone was cursed to spiral to that behavior at some point, and those that weren't were the subject of intense envy and jealousy, so I can believe this as being true to a degree, though I am still curious about details regarding this.

I was literally born there, anon. Granted, my "Czech"-side, is kind of disputed because they seem to be more Austrian than Czech from distant ancestry and on top of that mixed with Polish, but that's the only thing you can really dispute. Otherwise both of my grandparents and the rest from that side are Czech-speaking.

Combat was particularly a joke, because I still didn't figure out if I was abusing the system non-stop, or the system wasn't simply working in the first place. And it took them two years to patch the foot-looking exploit.
