On the last point, Matt doesn't even play FGs after launch based on his comments regarding V still being only about it's launch state. MF is still actively shouting the game has zero content and characters while dicksucking Guilty Gear and anything ArcSys related when they haven't done anything better except for netcode
Soul Calibur 5 had less content than 4 and kneecapped the roster not only by removing a huge chunk of characters without sound justification (and no, the timeskip was not justification,Daishi specifically said it was "arbitrary" and clarified that the series was not afraid of taking creative risks.) and replacing some with characters who were simply just more annoying and poorly-thought-out replacements, but butchering every single moveset in the game by leaving the entire roster with just a 1/4 of what they've ever had in their kits perhaps since even as far back as soul blade.
If all you do is play soul calibur and suck the dick of making custom characters all day in and out instead of actually playing these games, you wouldn't know the basic concept of SC5 completely shitting the bed, but it got critically fricked so hard that nobody forgave it aside from tournament tryhards that only gave a shit about ranking high regardless of the game's lacking qualities or OC hobbyists that were more interested in showing off creations without spending a second learning how to play in a match
It wasn't even so far back that you need to ask for clarity. Any youtube personality that criticizes the game would give it to your straight.
The only high point the game had was a slight improvement on how custom characters were created.... but only in the manner that you could mess with textures in interesting ways. Outside of they, SC5 almost utterly killed the franchise because they took all the wrong lessons from both 3 and for while dismissing the usefulness of the provisions the previous 5 games in the franchise offered and WHY those provisions were important.... then rushed off to make a show of all of those bad decisions.
