The West can learn to add more cute girls. The Japanese can learn to add more rocket launchers that chamber multiple rockets before firing.
I know this is just a thread about women and political shitflinging but I’ll bite because I do think there’s things both can learn from.

Video games can tell their own narratives their own ways. So many western AAA devs have seemingly given up on exploring storytelling and feeling in video games using the strengths of video games themselves. They often rely on looking/feeling as much like a TV show, movie, or “real life” as they can. I’m all for cinematic narrative games like The Last of Us but sometimes you gotta give up these pensions of realism because once Last of Us starts being a game it begins to look rather goofy. Japanese games aren’t afraid to ask the player to suspend more disbelief, and can just be far more interesting as a result. My biggest issue here is also MUSIC. WESTERN GAMES NO LONGER CARE ABOUT GOOD SOUND BEYOND SOUND EFFECTS. Please stop with the movie score soundalikes and “atmospheric” soundtracks. Good music CAN work in a more narratively complex, dynamic, even open world experience. Just ask Nier!

Other than not sexualizing children, I think Japan’s AAA scene needs to learn to stop catering to anime fans so much. Is it lucrative? Sure. Anime fans are troglodytes who will buy anything if a character even looks slightly similar to one from one of their favorite shows, but at this point it’s getting annoying as hell. I don’t want sappy romance sim shit in my medieval strategy RPG. We have genre separations for a reason. Please preserve your fricking dignity.
