character turned black
Frick you dont even joke about that. If they make Cecil or Kain black, im seriously going to be upset. Black folk can keep Tidus though.
I'm worried this will happen but at the same time surely the autists at square wouldn't let that fly
if tolkien's estate is so fricking weak willed that they will let trannies of the coast walk all over them then why would anyone else be different?
did they do that with the lotr set? all i know about nu magic is that everyone seems to hate it because they made it ridiculously p2w.
Yes
jesus christ
Yeah, they made Aragorn black. I personally dig it though.
Like if he was played by Idris Elba
Yeah, but the Tolkien estate also prostituted the IP put the moment Christopher died. Here's hoping SE has more control. WoL is definitely going to have a tan at minimum or be a woman because "um they can be anyone sweetie :)"
> because "um they can be anyone sweetie :)"
FF1 WoL is a specific person and the FFXIV Poster WoL is Hyur Midlander.
XIV poster boy isn't a real character, you will see a highlander in the paladin armor from EW and you WILL enjoy it.
>XIV poster boy isn't a real character
At this point he literally is, seeing as as they've used him for every expansion trailer since 1.X. They'll be a card for every scion and a card for the Poster WoL on top of your Highlander Paladin and slugmog tanned Lala.
I don't even care for LotR and this bothers me more than it should.
the fact that 3 different artists worked on these cards proves it was a mandate by wizards
>proves it was a mandate by wizards
You don't need circumstantial evidence to prove it. One of the artists came out and said that he originally did art of a lore accurate Aragorn and posted pictures of it.
I'll try and find them, unless someone else has it on hand.
"Mandate"? Wizards directly tells you what to draw in what angle and pose, often times directly giving you a photograph of a real human being as the subject. Working for them is having your balls in a vice, and the only upside is they actually credit you.
Yeah no shit. Did you not see the art directions for that one tard legendary from Ikoria?
They literally tell them exactly what they want including race and how fat they are supposed to be
WOTC no longer gives abstract art prompts. Here is an example of an art prompt from back when MTG art was actually good:
>Show a close up of a face that has just received all the knowledge in the universe. The expression is that of seeing the immensity of the infinite that both awes and terrifies. It is agony and ecstasy at the same time. At the edges, the face is beginning to fracture into geometric pieces, and the further out from the face that we go, the pieces are turning into all manner of birds, beasts and creatures that wriggle and crawl, flowers, trees, vines and symbolic script. The pieces are spaced more and more apart the further they are from the face as if the face is exploding apart revealing the infinite void.
And here's one from their new card "art" director:
>Design us a female Embereth mage in a dynamic spellcasting pose, based on the costuming designs of Embereth nobles. She is an heavyset badass of Asian ethnicity, conjuring an impressive fire spell in some way. Maybe she sweeps her arms in a dancelike motion, creating cracers of fire through the air. Or maybe she's hurling a three-pointed shape made out of fire, reminiscent of the triple--spear design seen on Embereth heraldry.
The difference in quality is obvious
>She is an heavyset badass of Asian ethnicity,
They hired jos whedon for the prompts?!
Even worse, they hired a woman.
Why the frick does the card on the right have 0 power when she’s wielding fricking fire? That said, it looks like she’s conjuring kites with her fire, so whatever.
magic doesn't design their cards to be flavourful or even fun, they're all just minmaxed autowin cards with no play to them to sell boxes, or at least that's what they're supposed to be
>magic doesn't design their cards to be flavourful
There are plenty of cards designed to be flavorful, it's just that there's no flavor to new sets.
Old magic and nu magic shouldn’t be considered the same game. Old magic was both top tier in terms of flavour and gameplay.
>Old magic
what timeframe(s)
Probably pre 2007?
Nah frick that, Lorwyn/Shadowmoor had plenty of flavor.
That excludes the second and third most flavorful blocks of all time (Lorwyn and Innistrad) so no
Nah, Anything Ravnica is my jam
Ravnica sets are all great except WAR but they're not super flavorful. They're up there, but they're better more for their gameplay, theming, and aesthetic than flavor.
Eh, I used the D&D book to build a campaign were the PC's were Izzit maintenance men in a large skyscraper. The world is only as big or small as you want it to be.
That's not what people are talking about when they talk about card flavor, they mean how well the mechanics of the card represent what the card actually is.
Example being pic related is a perfect representation of the Narcissus myth in terms of how the card functions.
It has nothing to do with how good the Plane is as a setting.
i apologize, i was on a completely different wavelength.
I’m disappointed that card has nothing to do with Fist of the North Star
It's designed to function like how Kenshiro kills people in the show. Obviously they can't make it literally have HnK art or they'd get sued. At least not until the Universes Beyond crossover when it gets reprinted with HnK art!
Who'd sue them if they did?
You're delusional if you think they'd blow money on a real artist for a draft chaff common
In secret lair, they would.
Yeah true, and I would expect them to fill a Secret Lair with draft chaff too.
they're literally selling 5 basic mountains for $40 secret lairs
Basic land secret lairs are probably the most valuable ones because they're the only ones where you will actually use all the cards in them and can use them in basically any deck.
If I had the disposable income to waste on paper magic, I would rather pay $40 for a bunch of basics with amazing art than pay $40 for one or two cards I'll actually use and three that are worthless garbage.
i'm talking about constructed cards, not draft chaff
i didn't say they were good at it, dream trawler and questing beast were shit too
Dream trawler and Questing beast broke the format they were designed for (standard)
They're also somewhat playable. Nobody has ever played Irencrag Pyromancer besides morons who put it in their babby's first commander deck and nobody ever will.
>Dream trawler and Questing beast broke the format they were designed for (standard)
what a bizarre lie
>3 mana do nothing penny rare with 0 power and modest toughness that at most does 3 damage per turn if you meet specific conditions and does nothing to help you meet those conditions
Yeah, totally a "minmaxed autowin card"
Because she deals damage with her triggered ability instead of attacking. What's she going to do in a fight without her magic, besides have a heart attack? That said it's a flavor fail that saccing her to Fling effects does 0 damage when it should be an instant kill.
I remember seeing a cool looking token from the lotr set and they did the "Black person putting his hand on the thing hes taking a picture of" meme just for there to be a Black person in the picture.
Christ how insufferable
kek, there's no way this is real
It's real
Here, I even took a picture of how it looks irl
Now put your hand on it.
ok, but it's pretty cold here
>no black hand on the card
The one time Anon being a Black person would have been a good thing.
My sides are in orbit
>hey Ganker look at this cool book I bought
>why are you black?
>give it back Jamal
>We wuz bilbos and shieet
>hey Ganker look at what i bought
>Ganker designs a card's art
Yes but the person in charge of the LOTR IP doesn't give a frick about its legacy and just wants money. Also, they could use the excuse of "well we're adapting the books not the movies :)" which is exactly what they did. "Aragorn is described as swarthy so that means he was Idris Elba!"
They also did stupid shit like make all the Rohirrim black which means Eowyn is a Black person with blonde hair now.
>"well we're adapting the books not the movies :)"
This is actually a huge problem. Warner Bros. would not hesitate to shake WotC down if they caught even the slightest whiff of the cards being like the movies. It's what the Golloum game changed Gollum's appearance. The original in the files looks much more like Andy Serkis's portrayal and the devs rightly changed it to not be sued into oblivion.
There is a clear difference between making sure your depiction doesn't resemble real life actors and making Aragon look like Idris Elba instead of Viggo Mortensen.
Not to corporate lawyers. They're like sharks, especially since studios are hurting for money. They'd sue knowing they had the flimsiest of cases knowing they could force WotC to settle for easy money.
And I'm telling you Aragorn being a Black person has nothing to do with them differentiating their adaptation from the films. They would make him a Black person even if they were adapting the films.moron.
And I'm saying that they latched onto it because it killed two birds with one stone. ESG score boost AND shielding them from a lawsuit.
Even Freya and Fran?
AEW SHIEET
>We have to make all of the cards pander to liberals but how the frick do you make a dragon card woke?
I got you senpai
>MTG has been reduced to "REMEMBER X CHARACTER?? (but black)"
The Funko Pop of tcgs. Grim.
mtg is the poster child for designing a game to sell products instead of designing a game to be fun to play and then selling products off that
magic is fun though
no it fricking isn't
it absolutely is lmao
ok what's your favourite card from the current standard
voldaren thrillseeker
they have been unable to design a proper set since kaladesh. there was an obvious infinite combo that everyone saw 5 minutes after they were spoiled, yet WOTC's testers never even thought of it. the amount of bannings goes up and up because they have no idea what the frick they're doing anymore.
kitchen table is fun but i'll never play a constructed format again
>Draws all lands/non-lands
>Lose
>Opponent draws all lands/non-lands
>Win but feel nothing because you did nothing to earn the victory
This was the fatal flaw in this shit game from the beginning. At least back then it had good art and aesthetic, now that it's all pozzed there's no reason at all to play it.
>counterspells you
>sacs all your creatures
>destroys your artifacts and enchantments
>exiles everything for the fourth time this game
Yeah nice game.
Correct but Ganker has to complain
Magic relies entirely on you having friends with similar budgets (or unlimited budget in the case of TTSim) who also like to play and aren't total dicks. Commander with the boys is one of the best times you can have with a TCG but doing it with strangers is about as fun as beating your nutsack with a lead pipe.
>that one guy who plays an expensive busted deck when you just want to have a fun, political game
This, won't even bother with cool designs anymore because muh superheroes/muh representation
This goddamn argument is disingenuous as frick
>Elf
>Vampire
>Kor
>Werewolf
>Cyborg
Nissa, Sorin, Nahiri, and Tezzeret (If that's who they're referring to by Cyborg) have enough human traits that they're basically human. Hell Arlinn is more Human there Werewolf in the number of cards she's been printed on.
>Merfolk
>Gorgon
>Moonfolk
one or two more steps above the above in terms of being "Not human", but still very much human-like in appearance for their sex appeal
>Satyr
Xenagos died in the same fricking block he was introduced. That shit hardly counts
Meanwhile there's like 30+ different human planeswalkers out there, and of the 8 members of the Gatewatch only 2 were nonhuman (Nissa and Ajani). But that's okay, because we have TWO dragon planeswalkers (One of which is desparked and the other has to play babysitter to the first one).
>The humanoid monster creatures act human and not like literal animals
This motherfricker wants an actual snake as a planeswalker named Hiss whose entire card text is "Hisssssss hiss hissssss hisssssssssssss" with atk/def of hiss/HISS.
so exactly the same as every trading card game
yugioh up until the middle of the xyz era was good
khans theros standard was good
ixalan dominaria ravnica standard was fine
modern before modern horizons shit everything up was fine
Two dying giants, magic and FF join forces to die together even harder.
unironically grim
literally this
can't wait for the gay blacked cuck crap
tifa pls
mako energy type
atb-style game mode?
shinra buildings for mako energy art
>they think Cloud is going to be black
>not Tifa
lmao
They're not dumb enough to turn her black. Instant turnoff for black and white guys. Nogging up the stoic mute is right up their alley and plays into black guy fantasies
but we need to challenge beauty standards chud you'll just have to suffer
its not black people doing the raceswaps
wotc is probably 99% white people
remember when MTG channeled dark fantasy sovl as it evolved over the years before it turned into wannabe capeshit where saying "OMG MY LITTLE PONY, THE WALKING DEAD AND SOFTCORE GAY PORN ARE IN!" isn't a fricking joke?
It all went downhill when they got bought by Hasbro
It's almost as if, no matter the product, whenever some slimy public company gets their grubby hands on it, it always goes to shit, without any exceptions
>mfw mostly pay no mind to MTG
>Phyrexians look cool, whole set about them basically going on the offensive
>Next set immediately has every single one of them job and a magic cure to their corruption of other characters gets found out
>And then they did a second half to this set
I know it's past the point for you but this was annoying for me because you would fricking thing that we'd at least get a set about them invading and actually suceeding before we got the deus ex machina to the MTG status quo, and it's doubly fricked because they made a whole new card type to represent their invasions and despite the idea of them being to siege your enemies by attacking the card, every single one was a FAILED Phyrexian invasion. In a sense it made me understand why folks hate the crossover stuff and the Secret Lairs, because I could imagine someone with investment in Magic's setting thinking that maybe around the point of having Fortnite Secret Lairs that a line was crossed somewhere.
New Phyrexia losing immediately after starting their invasion was the biggest complaint they got about the set. They could've easily dropped The Brothers War from the release schedule and had a set for the March and Fall of the Machine in its place. But no, we had to get full on member berries for Antiquities. Member Mishra? Member Gix?
>"If only we had two sets ;;"
THESE FRICKING Black folk DID HAVE TWO SETS, THEY LITERALLY SPLIT MARCH OF THE MACHINES INTO TWO FRICKING SETS WHAT THE FRICK IS WIZARDS TALKING ABOUT?
Aftermath is as much a "Set" as those shitty Jumpstart packs they started including with every new set release. MOM's plot started and finished in that set while Aftermath was just "Look Nissa is sad she lost her spark and Nahiri is pissed oh and there are Omenpaths now". That's literally all that happens in terms of story. Theres cards that say "Oh so and so died" or "X walker lost their spark too" in the flavor text but that shit barely counts.
So let me see if I understand this correctly, instead of giving this whole thing at least three sets to actually establish a proper arc they started with literal filler only to then realize "Oh no, we cannot possibly finish our story now so let's deus ex machina the threat away so we can shill our upcoming TLOR set" and the only thing they can think to say is that they're sorry about how the fricked literally everything up?
Ah, you're forgetting they did the exact same thing with War of the Spark, where they hired an outside author who didn't give a shit about the lore to write the culminating novel to over a decade of storylines and kicking aside their internal writing team who had been doing some of the best work in decades during Ixalan, with the result that card art, flavor text, and the written story often showed mutually exclusive versions of the same events with no clarity as to what the actual conclusion was in what was supposed to be their blockbuster crescendo.
They then did it again, in half the time, with the Phyrexians instead of Bolas.
Classic Phyrexia is way better than nu-Phyrexia anyway, they should have dropped more of the nu-Phyrexian shit for a full block of memberberries sets.
Look at this homie lmao. what is this mf talkin about. like shut up geek lol!
Black cloud wew
>every mainline ff
which character from each game will be race changed?
They’re almost certainly not touching the iconic characters since they can’t pull the same “this is OUR interpretation” shit they did with LOTR, but you can be guaranteed that they’ll make characters of generic jobs (Red Mage, Warrior, Paladin, etc) and half of them WILL be black. Except the Black Mage, because that’s raycist.
>but you can be guaranteed that they’ll make characters of generic jobs (Red Mage, Warrior, Paladin, etc) and half of them WILL be black. Except the Black Mage, because that’s raycist.
They could reuse the Choose a Background mechanic for that.
i'm just so tired
>Pic related will become real
They can't have EVERY card be a long haired anime pretty boy, so who is going to get cut for TnA bait?
they printed every doctor from doctor who using only precon decks, they don't give a frick
Who is getting blacked?
everyone, none shall escape the blackwashing
Including Lord Underhill of Ran'dellah?
Black Tifa pls
Just do it
magic is literally becoming the parody card games you would see on shows
>I tap my optimus prime and attack
>I block with my negan and use phoenix down on him turning him becomes invulnerable to damage
>not so fast, I use the one ring and cancel your phoenix down
>blocks your path
>Those troony scars along with it being mixed race """gay""" couple
man, I didn't even realize how ultra pozzed this is
>Bear
I'm starting to see a pattern here.
Are these cards expensive? I was thinking about buying them up just to destroy them.
>giving money to gays to own the gays
You have a copy of Hogwarts Legacy, don't you?
True, I was thinking of buying from 3rd party vendors, but I guess that still is supporting the gays., No, I don't own Hogwarts Legacy though.
Normally, I'd tell you to shoplift packs from walmart, etc. until you get the card but since it's a secret lair, you're SoL on your gay-burning needs.
normalgays love that shit
this is going to make so much money all of you are idiots
magic doesnt need you anymore
>normalgays love that shit
>He thinks normalgays will ever care about or play mtg
You're delusional. Mtg is a 30+ year old tcg that is on the brink of irrelevancy because gen alpha doesn't care about paper cards and the regular sets aren't doing too hot with their regular demographic.
Sets like these are Wotc's last attempt at squeezing out as much money out of the IP as possible.
Did you somehow miss the lotr set where it sold trillions to the normals?
>lotr sold very well
Case in point: it sold because it's lotr, not because it's mtg. Normalgays don't care about the actual game part, which is why they keep doing these cross-promotions with actually relevant IPs.
This. I haven't played or bought Magic cards since the first Kamigawa set but I might actually buy some of the Final Fantasy and Fallout ones for shits and giggles, if the arts good.
We agree you lack reading comprehension
My point from the start was that normalgays love the optimus prime equips a final fantasy weapon to attack even if they dont play the game
I think you may be moronic. I'm not disputing the fact that normalgays like popular IPs, I'm disputing the notion that mtg will somehow survive off of selling collectible paper. The decreasingly relevant game part is what has kept mtg relevant all these years, the collector market wouldn't exist without it and would shrink overnight if they were to announce a shift in product.
>survive
It will make quadrillions in the short term and thats all they care about
Wasnt that also because of the ring card being a one off worth millions? It's basically a lottery at that point
Steve Jobs warned people about the likes of you
if steve jobs knew anything about warnings he wouldn't have suicided via diet
No one is playing Magic kek, the game's new target audience is collectors/speculators
Most stores already dropped Standard format
Magic has become beanie babies for millenials, people buying because they think it'll make them rich
Square Enix would definately not allow changes to existing characters
anthology FMV butz exists
>flat chested black Tifa
Sounds kinda hot to be honest
FF is so pozzed holy shit
DAS RITE
Are you ready for the meta defining white planeswalker of the set?
Sazh is based so that'd be fine. However I will rage my eyeballs out of their sockets when I see the Raogrimm and Zeid cards and they have gigantic mattress lips.
I don't love Sazh, he's a pretty average character, but it says a lot about 13 that he's one of the most memorable parts of the game.
sazh is pretty much the only relatable human and down to earth character out of the whole 13 cast. it's actually pretty hilarious
>Sazh
>White
Honestly would fit him. Also Sazh is based as frick.
Still not gonna give money to the Pinkertons though.
Set Mechanics:
Cuckoldry: Next time you play a black creature your opponent can pay that creature converted mana cost, if they don't take control of a white creature they control.
Blackwash: Put a black-face counter on target creature you control. Creatures with Black-Face counters are treated as black 2/2 ape creatures with protection against white and blue.
Reparations: Next time your opponent plays a White or Blue spell you can create a reparation token.
Reparation Token. Artifact Token. Sacrifice this token, add 1B to your mana pool then your opponent discards a card at random.
Transgenderism: Morph target creature face down, it becomes a 4/4 creature. At the end of the turn, sacrifice it.
>Transgenderism: Morph target creature face down, it becomes a 4/4 creature. At the end of the turn, sacrifice it.
nice
Is it a colorless creature or a multicolor creature?
>Is it a colorless creature or a multicolor creature?
nothing gayer than UW
Lol shut up timmy, get supreme verdict'd
>Lol shut up timmy, get supreme verdict'd
I actually play blue white control in explorer myself. It is a very gay archetype though.
Explorer isn't a real format, Arena devs are just too lazy to follow up on their promise of backloading Pioneer in. We should've had Pioneer masters in 2021 but Alchemy came in.
I don't disagree and haven't played in months. Explorer is jsut an excuse to nickle and dime you rather than have a real eternal format. One day after it's reached parity with Pioneer, it'll get the Historic Alchemy treatment and they'll find some new """eternal""" format to frick us with.
Can't wait.
Black Tifa and White Barret look fricking cool.
Although Black Tifa is just Fran.
>white Barret
I see no problem here.
GIVE *clap* YSHTOLA *clap* HER *clap* MELANIN *clap* BACK
You can't prove what skin colour your waifu has without upsetting her. Fact.
>Magic, Owned by Wizards of the woke
Lmao.
>Half-species
I thought race mixing was a good thing?
They don't like it when you make half-orcs /w/ black humans. At least that is what I heard.
Why? White human women love Big Orc wiener.
I fricking hate UB shit but if they make a Black Knight Cecil that flips into a Paladin I will probably build a deck for him
Same here, but with an exile-mill Exdeath.
>players: hey this new format is pretty fun
>wotc: how can we ruin that format?
frick wotc like your wouldnt believe
I'm so glad I quit this shit game right after Tarkir.
In before it's all re-used stock art that everyone's seen like the actual FF TCG is
when did mtg die bros? after the onslaught block?
After Tarkir, just didn't show until a few years later. Too much secondary product, too many unbalanced cards
Imagine having such a weak IP that you have to lean on other IPs. This is like if Starbuck's started selling fricking Costa lmaoooo
They're just doing what Japanese card games and mobile games do and rely on constant collabs to bring in new players. It also means they don't need to hire anyone to do lore of their own if all they do is copy other peoples. Normalgays have been priced out of physical magic anyway, it's about catering to whales. Meta decks cost about the same as a fricking PC.
oh please, with a PC you get pennies on the dollar back for your hardware if it isnt dated as frick by the time you're done with it. with magic, it's practically an investment - the card prices fluctuate and as long as you aren't stupid and buy low sell high you just make money.
>Mono green troon
>those prices
What am I looking at here?
That's how much a full deck cost.
Who gives a frick?
MtG was doomed to be a proper game the moment some morons cried about
>muh investment
Look where it led to, an anniversary edition where they sell you 4 booster packs of proxies for $1000 dollars
Draft is the best format
No sleeves, shuffling and just playing the game, this is peak MtG
Yeah but buy proxies from Etsy
MtG has a big secondary market, which means there are people who actually buy cards as investment. see
Some staples will never use value because they are played in every deck, like lands.
So you have 3-4 copies of like 3-4 different land cards and each of them cost over $50.
That's just the base for your deck, then you need to build your actual deck and sometimes that deck requires a few copies of some other cards that cost a good amount of money
cool, but theyll turn them all black like theh did with the lord of the rings set.
>another collab
Truly the scooby doo of tc— nevermind that. Scooby Dog IS memorable.
>>>/tg/
I want a minwu sacrifice card that unlocks ultima spell as an permanent enchantment, and probably the FF2 dreadnought
I like FF2
What exactly counts as a mainline FF game? Just the numbered entries? Do both MMOs count as mainline?
>Just the numbered entries? Do both MMOs count as mainline?
Yes and yes
>cast marche
>game ends, and your forced to go outside to touch grass.
Not a mainline FF game.
I give no fricks about the game, I just follow what sort of nonsense AI-generated cards end up being made.
is magic similar to yugioh?
id say its closer to pokemon since you need mana, but it has its similarities with enchantment/artifacts and sorcery/instants that beef up your monsters.
>emet-selch
>while emet-selch is on the field, all non-ascian creatures have half their power and toughness
>everyone turned into a Black person
>Barret turned into a double Black person
>2 dead franchises desperately trying to stay relevant
They also announced UB sets for Assassin's Creed, and Fallout as well
>scamming the gathering

Reminder to try out Sorcery in a couple months
Yes Im a shill
Maybe if they gave us a fricking release date. The cards have the best art I’ve ever seen and I’m hyped but they have some of the worst marketing I’ve also ever seen.
What kind of desperation is this?
I don’t even understand how people can be pathetic enough to be into magic in 2023. It was nerdy before, now it’s straight humiliation ritual the game.
People think the cards are collector's items and just buy everything in the hopes of selling it for a profit someday. That's why they pump out so much low quality content because it's going to be purchased no matter what
I could see this making sense with the older sets. They pump out so much garbage now that there is no fricking way that it’s going to retain its value let alone grow in value.
No LOTR collector willing to drop bags 30 years down the line is going to look at a foil Black Aragorn and think “ I must have this in my collection “
Pokemon makes a frickton of money from non-players buying every printing of their favourite fish. They want to tap into that market as much as possible.
>tennis
>volleyball
>yachting
>ziplining
Which set are you looking forward to the most?
Lmao what the frick?
You're looking at a clear case of corporate desperation.
I get the crossovers, but who the frick is buying cards based on random sports?
I'll ruin the joke: they've use sports as external codenames since they ran out of... was it fruits before that?
Those are set codenames, usually they have a theme to the naming that has nothing to do with the actual set just so that they can talk about them publicly without giving away details.
all things considered wrestling is 100% WWE
I play rafael nadal and tap him for a deuce
>wrestling
Didn't they already do a WWE set?
Wrestling set would actually be cool. But I'm not sure how it would work since it would be based off actual people. Does WWE own the rights to any wrestling "character" that has been with their company?
>bloomburrow
>he it's like redwall this could be cool
>it's mtg
wtf dropped
>ravnica remastered
People weren't joking when they said WotC would do the return to the return to the return to the return to the return to ravnica. I guess that's what you have to do when you have a plane that people actually like and you have literally no creativity left to make another plane that people enjoy.
Remastered sets are just a collation of all the good cards from sets that had Ravnica as a main setting. It iznt really a return, just a reprint mill to drive prices down, those are good. Shocklands need their prices driven to the ground
Remastered sets aren't real sets, they're just an excuse to steal Arena players' money by taking away cards they used to have when they "remaster" a set.
Elaborate
>release "X Remastered!"
>add a few new cards to X so as to justify "remastering" it
>remove all cards from the old X from player's inventories on Arena because they've been replaced with the X Remastered version which is a different card (even though it's the same card)
That's basically it.
I came back to Arena recently and had to blow a bunch of wildcards on cards I already owned because they stole all my cards from before Dominaria.
>Fallout
>AssCreed
Fricking WHY?
so they can sell x popular character from y brand as a commander
Does Fallout even have popular characters? I guess AC does have Ezio, but what does Fallout have?
>inb4 black cards are all radiation-related
There's the companions from Fallout 2 onward that people generally like and remember. Then major characters like Joshua Graham, Caesar, Frank Horrigan, The Master, etc.
If it's a full set and not a secret lair then they can also print cards of generic mutants and brotherhood of steel paladins and that kind of thing
They're not going to have prominent male characters, that's not allowed company policy.
Hopefully we do get reprint of image related, basically black blood moon
>The Master
Of course. I feel like a moron now.
Never been to interested in MTG, but the sound of doing some super mutant deck with nuclear wasteland cards sounds pretty cool.
it's going to be mostly New Vegas characters to keep the troonie loonies happy
It's probably going to be mostly Bethesda characters because Bethesda hates acknowledging that New Vegas exists since it's infinitely better than any tripe they've shat out in the last 20 years.
I would have thought the same thing but Bethesda and Obsidian are now both owned by the same company, I'm sure Microsoft doesn't give a frick about whatever moronic workplace politics is happening between them and will just make use of the most iconic characters from each game.
That's true, I forgot about the Bethesda acquisition.
Still, Bethesda are in charge of the Fallout lore and I doubt MS cares enough to get Obsidian involved, and if Bethesda are the consultants for the set then you can bet your ass it's going to be entirely Fallout 4 and 76 related garbage. Not like Macroshaft will give a frick about it anyway, they'd probably prefer advertising their more recent and expensive titles that continue to make money with GAAS cancer than their old game that people might buy for $5
I guess the other problem I have with thinking Bethesda would excursively use characters from 3, 4 and 76 is theres basically no iconic characters in their games to make cards around.
3 has Dad, Three Dog and Eden. 4 has Preston and I guess some of the followers. 76 has nothing.
I feel like it will be absolutely mandatory to use other games just to have material to pull from.
No, Bethesda licenses New Vegas designs out like crazy because they know it's what people want.
Murders, Outlaws, and not-Redwall are the main sets?
>Outlaws of Thunder Juction
>western/outlaw themed set
>it's MTG so there will be no guns
Capenna had this same problem
I can't wait to see how modern horizons 3 fricks the game
>MD3 has no retrains at all, just straight up legacy reprints
Can't wait...
Honestly, the only way they could save this piece of shit game would be to just reprint every card
MH1 fricked things up with the force cycle and Wrenn and Six, MH2 fricked things up with the elemental cycle and Ragavan/Murktide, MH3 is going to have a cycle of spirit guides that pitch for mana but also give mana innately when exiled, and a zero mana card that puts cards from exile into your graveyard.
>WoL = troon
>Firion = cripple
>Onion Knight = Vegan Knight
>Cecil = black (dark knight) and vitiligo (paladin)
>Bartz = flip
>Cloud = korean
>Zidane = unironic dwarf
>Tidus = neurodivergent
>Vaan = flaming homo
>Lightning = female
>Noctis = cholo
>Clive = unchanged because muh sales
>Tidus= neurodivergent
Made me laugh
>Lightning = female
The Universes Beyond thing is the final thing that caused MtG to be my breaking point. I never thought I'd actually do it, but I am cashing out my collection.
the $1000 collector's edition pack
Just how many Legendary creatures will this set have? There's dozens of important characters throughout the franchise, and tons of summons that are all based on mythical creatures like Odin, Bahamut, Ifrit, Leviathan...
>FF16 slammed by leftists by refusing to add Black folk
>Now entire Final Fantasy series collab with people who made Aragorn black
It's not looking good...
>leftists
Was it libshits in general or just clickbait articles?
Worse, it was vidya "journalists", the game even lost a full point of metascore because some major outlets gave it a "the game is perfect but there are no Black folk in it 6/10" review
Gaming “ journalism “ is the most blatant example of lugenpresse in history
The best part is that there is no region in the game where it would make sense for there to be Africans. In the desert region everyone is Arabic looking. But apparently having a bunch of brown people in the game doesn't count, everyone has to be black by default.
It was both honestly, and libtards became even more furious when beside no nigs in the game, woman weren't treated as super invincible heroines and mostly disposable irrelevant side characters
>woman weren't treated as super invincible heroines and mostly disposable irrelevant side characters
The way the end of the RE4 Remake treated Ashley honestly blew me away with that pandering. It was such a disconnect from the actual gameplay.
Square Enix is not the Tolkien estate, they will demand that MtG be aesthetically consistent with the games, and probably make a bunch of other demands.
Also WOTC is most likely going to exclusively hire Japanese artists out of fear of getting "cancelled" for having other people "appropriate Japanese culture" by hiring white artists
If anything, Square will ok them covering up characters
Question is, who will the blackify? My bet is Cid
Cecil since he's a Dark Knight
In FF 16 ya dip
my bad lel
This gets weirder when you realize final fantasy already has its own card game that plays very similarly to MTG
No card no buy
I wonder what Sephiroth's color identity will be. White-Blue-Black maybe?
Probably all black. No pun intended. Or Black and Blue. I'm sure White will be reserved for Aerth and Holy
Going to be cool. I'm also excited for the Fallout set. For the final fantasy set some cool spells as well as themed commander sets for favorites. I wouldn't be mad at an alt art Zettaflare featuring Donald Duck, but I won't hold my breath.
I expect every single card related to FF7 to have Barret in it somehow. The same applies to the token black dude in every other FF game and that game's cards. WOTC will not allow less than half the card art to not feature a black person in it.
I wonder how they're going to portray the turks
I hope this shit just goes straight digital, no need to further frick up the actual printed version
It was bad enough with the mlp cards
>I wonder how they're going to portray the turks
As actually turks, obviously.
Turks are going to be blacked. Just like Disney blacked Berber arabs in their upcoming Moor princess movie.
The Turks already have a black member, unless you’re saying they’re willing to go full moron and make all of them black.
They're going to have any card that depicts an unnamed Turk depict him as black or a fat ethnic woman.
Same goes for any other card depicting anyone who isn't a named character.
I am assuming this is a full set like LOTR and not just a Secret Lair.
Also they will have a card for the FFXIV Warrior of Light and will make him black.
thats a fricking Black person, not a spaniard.
I HATR Black folk!
She's meant to be a moor, but she doesn't really look much like them either.
oh god I can already see the turkish/arabian art
It's really depressive what they did to the lotr set
They could've easily just made Teferi into cosplaying Aragorn and have the story be how the real aragorn had been planeswalked/kidnapped by unknown big bads (eldrazi)
>What cards and mechanics are you excited to see
I'm excited to see everyone who works at Hasbro or WotC fricking die screaming.
I'm fine with them making characters black as long as they make Barret white and Sazh a ginger
>mtg cards have no fla-
some flavor is just banned
Ah yes, this somehow is racist against Arabs. And they say they’re the anti racists lmao
Tidus better be an illusion
This brings up a good point. How much will they actually spoil?
When Sorcery TCG stops being daytraded by Florida stock brokers, none of you are invited to play. I can't believe you all let MTG get this fricking pathetic while I've been gone since Lorwyn
There is already a Final Fantasy card game, I have no clue how to play it though.
>actually having fun playing arena
not touching the lotr sets tho.
ALEXANDER
TIME MECHANICS
I will buy exactly 1 copy of the cards for the 5 cast from the secondhand market if they're under 5 dollars each
Whatever happened with the FFTCG?
>mechanics
who cares just give me all the miqo'te and mithra
SURELY not even wizards can frick this up
would be cool to get cards in the style of yoshitaka amano but i doubt it would happen
I mean he's drawn art for Magic before, it's definitely possible
Foil promos can easily have those as exclusive alt arts.
>me
>day dreaming about Magic The Gathering X Monster Hunter.
