This. Nothing about about DS2 is actually hard, it's just annoying. Ignore the dumbass music in this clip. Who wants to do this all game? There's a reason they tried it in DS2 and never did it again.
Wasted potential. I love a lot of it's ideas that it had to offer (like the Adaptability stat as a concept, branches of yore, bonfire aesthetics) but they are all either poorly executed, underdeveloped due to time constraints or brought down by other factors.
It's still an enjoyable game despite these grievances, but I wonder just how much better the game could have been if it's ideas were properly fleshed out.
I really liked it, its better than the first one. Better than Lies of P. Better than a lot of other games. If Ganker hates on a game its probably because they suck at it

multiplayer. i loved spamming the small white sign to get 'free' health and durability refills without respawning enemies. weird that they never brought that feature back.
there are some awesome encounters that stick in my mind after all these years, like the un-cheesable drop into the "murder pit" in undead crypt, the spider swarm by the quicksand, dragon aerie honorabru drakekeeper duels, finding and destroying the sarcophagi in shulva while ghosts are trying to kill you.
cool moveset on the drangleic and mirrah greatswords.
if only the game didn't look like shit most of the time and have stupid nonsense like dark ornstein as an irrelevant early game boss.

Soul Memory's implementation was a mistake. If it only counted spent souls rather than collected it would've been fine.
So arrows and bombs would be suboptimal then? Because they would cost potential exp and it boosts your soul memory
