For people who prefer story over gameplay this is a good idea

      But realistically

      MOAR KRYSTAL

is the only correct choice. The only thing that can save starfox is embracing the furry culture and let the furries save the game

Agreed on all counts. If a shitbox like volcano high can benefit why not StarFox.
I think there’s room for either a Wolf spinoff or one where his and Fox’s rivalry is centered like DMC5 - and then you give ‘playable Wolf’ as a feature on the special edition like Vergil.

Both of these. Farm it out to separate studios and let them do whatever they want.
Make both, see if either are successful and then fund that more.
Personally, I'd make it into Nintendo's Halo, just with a bit more focus on vehicles.
Take what Star Fox Assault laid the groundwork for, look at Bungie era Halo, take some cues from Star Wars Battlefronts and Ace combat and build a sandboxy Star Fox with a bunch of fun vehicles, some scifi crazy weapons
oh and give it a Saturday morning cartoons vibe. Make it campy and fun, not too serious and then just let the cash roll in.

Take Star Fox 64, remove Corneria and replace it with a different stage. Now take the next stage and replace it. Continue to do this for every stage in 64, while maintaining what kind of vehicle and whether the stage was on rails or all ranged, and then you have the next best Star Fox game.

Fans have been making kino for decades going only by footnotes in novels and flavor text, this applies to all franchises, and AFiS is a good example, Gafford managed to make a compelling character and story out of a character that was only briefly mentioned in a 30-year old japan only manual, which is proof of how much can be done with very little material

Oh wait, no...they shot down that idea idea...um...Star Fox Armada, a sequel to 64 from Retro Studios with a focus on multiplayer and building a crew to explore an open world? Oh shit they didn't like that pitch either. Hmm...I know! Let's just remake 64 again! Yeah it'll surely work this time!

They would really have to cut out as much of the furries as possible. Anything more than talking heads with intentionally twitchy talking animations as a throwback to the N64 era is unacceptable. Just have them speak cheesy one liners and cut out as much story as possible. Focus solely on the space combat and making more unique and gimmicky rail shooting missions and expanded combat mechanics like alternate weapons and ship customization

The explosion of furhomosexualry caused by Krystal is what killed the series. They used to be funny talking muppets, now they’re anthro shit for freaks to jerk off to. You want to save Starfox? Accept the fact you homosexuals killed it to begin with and make it funny and innocent again because you furBlack folk obviously don’t have the buying power to keep it alive. 26. 3 months ago

The only way to keep its identity as a rail shooter is to make it a budget game. With Zero the resounding opinion was that it cost too much for what it is.

I’ve been saying that Nintendo should flex on Microsoft and Bethesda by releasing a star fox game that’s essentially Starfield but good, and with actual on-rails sections scattered around. If it manages to do what skyrim did and Starfield failed to do by making a game that’s infinitely replayable then yes, I’d probably be content with it being the last game in the franchise

  29. 3 months ago

    Space exploration game.
The game is divided into several solar systems, each system has a set of planets you can land on and explore. In order to access a planet you have to fight off the security or local fauna on your arwing first. There's also dogfights in space and some bases you can blow up.

  30. 3 months ago

What can't they do? There's games out there I'd consider a real design challenge to properly "revive" or make a proper sequel but Starfox is nothing but possibilities.

Many of the suggestions in this thread would take away from the arcade-y feel of the series, which Nintendo seems pretty adamant to keep intact.

      Anonymous

I feel like Nintendo's goal should be to make a successful product for a change.

      Anonymous

If anything it's Nintendo that doesn't want that arcade feel. They're the ones who see Starfox as a "anything goes" series while the fans just want a rail shooter. But Nintendo is kind of like that Henry Ford quote, ask fans what they want and they'll say the same but more levels when Nintendo is the one who wants something new.

    2 options IMO.
A: A 30$ game that plays like SF64 (ideally stop rethreading the same planets) but better looking and with 4v4 multiplayer battles, some ship customisation for you and your “party members”.
Also Nintendo would never do this, but I’d love for such a game to have a Star Fox & Star Wolf campaign like SA2.

B: A character action game developed by Platinum that plays similar to Bayonetta. Fox is effectively more popular as a Smash Bros character than a Star Fox character anyway, might as well lean into it.

Here's my autistic ramble. Nintendo hire this man
    >Ideally the game should be done in a vein similar to Metroid Dread: Very similar to the best parts of previous entries and progresses the story, but also not too out there where newcomers will feel alienated (Dread is the best selling Metroid game despite being later in the story)
    >Game takes place after Command, specifically either the Fox and Krystal or Lucy and Krystal endings. Star Fox is still together and Dash Bowman has recently begun building a settlement on Venom with help from Corneria in an attempt to turn the planet habitable
    >Surprise! Dash's cousin Oikonny is still alive after Command and now looks like a fricked up mechanical cyborg monkey on one last ride to try to avenge his uncle. He wants to take over Venom again and finish out Andross' goal. Peppy tells Star Fox about this and they're off to Venom once again
    >Gameplay exclusively consists of rail shooting and dogfights, nothing else. (I think Assault-style ground combat could work in the series but I think a new Star Fox game needs to focus 100% on getting back on its feet moreso than anything else and I think it's more important to have super polished flight-play than anything else)
    >Likewise the game is once again arcade styled where you just take one path through the game with routes depending based on whether or not you met bonus criteria. However there's also a free play mode where you can just dick around and play things in whatever order you want
    >Each level is generally pretty lengthy but they all split early on depending on the route you take so that replaying levels across multiple playthroughs isn't a chore (ex: Corneria starts off in the city, but quickly turns into a cave section on one route, a dogfight on another, or just continuing through the city on another)
    >If playing in free play mode, you can start a level at any time it splits off once you've unlocked it

    1/3

      >Star Fox still consists of Fox, Falco, Krystal, Slippy. However, you can now choose which character you want to play as and each ship now has more prominent unique traits and abilities from one another ala Command (ex: Fox is an all-arounder, Krystal has more defense, Falco has more offense, etc.)
      >Ships can also be upgraded throughout the game, either with more standard upgrades (aka you can now hold an extra bomb) or with a complete overhaul (aka Arwing -> Arwing II for Fox or Arwing -> Sky Claw for Falco). These overhauls might significantly change stats or add new abilities (ex: Slippy's upgraded ship could deploy drones for a multi-shot effect, maybe someone can even have a melee attack like something from Sin and Punishment)
      >Generally every character in the series should return and be playable alongside the default set of Fox/Falco/Krystal/Slippy given specific circumstances. Bill now has Fay drop in alongside him when Star Fox is being helped by the Cornerian Army, Katt returns along with the game debut of the previously manga-exclusive Free-As-A-Bird team, Miyu serves as the general of the Cornerian Army stationed on Venom, Dash and Peppy can even be playable too
      >Recruiting new members to Star Fox allows you to have back-ups for when a fourth member goes down and also allows you to find a set of four you think works best for a specific level or just find the most fun to play with. They all have different bants with one another so part of it might just be whose quips and character interactions you like more or which AI you like better
      >Star Wolf can't be recruited formally but should be consistently present throughout the game and sometimes might even team up with Star Fox given their shared hatred of the main villain especially because they're not getting any main antagonist money anymore

      2/3

        >Get rid of the Fox and Krystal relationship bullshit, they can banter with one another but after Command I think it's best to just let them have one game where they can be a cool action couple
        >Game should end on a very positive note, no weird NTR shit like Command tried doing. Oikonny is killed once and for all, Dash and Corneria can build a new society on Venom, and the next game after this one can set up flying outside of the Lylat System for some new threat

Other ideas I had that might be a bit too much:
        >Add in a Fire Emblem style support system where completing a mission with a team of four will unlock a character cutscene between the four characters used (ex: winning a map with Fox/Falco/Krystal/Slippy would give you multiple a cutscene featuring Fox and Falco, one with Fox and Krystal, one with Fox and Slippy, one with Falco and Krystal, one with Falco and Slippy, and one Krystal and Slippy). None of these would be romantic like Fire Emblem (other than already established pairings like Fox/Krystal and Falco/Katt) but would just be more character interactions and a way to see how characters bounce off one another in a more casual setting
        >Depending on the route you take, Dash could actually be turned evil (like he does in one of the Command endings) by Oikonny and the two of them would team up to try to fight against Corneria. I'm not a fan of multiple endings especially after how Command did it but it could be cool

I always felt that they should lend more towards customization, think about a Mario Maker like game where you can create your own route with their unique enemy formation and share it with other players

Mario Maker works because it's a tiled 2D platformer; levels and level creation are simple.
An editor for making levels in 3D would be a nightmare

On rail sections of star fox games are basically 2d games on a 3d plane, since you get no control over the forward axis.
I still agree it'd be a shit idea however, as the game doesn't really lend itself to making anything beyond hallway simulators. It'd be like if every mario maker level had to be an auto scroller.

Namco Battle Pod Arcade game. Make an eShop exclusive port while you're at it.

Why would I play this when rogue squadron exists?
This just looks like a movie game trash remake of the trilogy arcade cabinets.

A Starwars Battlefront II game, 16 vs 16 or 24 vs 24 multiplayer shooter in space, land or on foot with characters you can customize by species for both Cornerian Army and Venomian army.
