And if bulbasaur were a poison dart frog and it had that particular diet, then no one would be able to touch him without using gloves because its skin is toxic.

Poison dark frogs are not poisonous due to their appearance but their diet which Bulbasaur can't have or canonically don't have. Whatever they went for at the beginning of the franchise has been retconned just like how real non-pokemon fish appeared in the show but were later never seen again.
