Exact same thing happened to me. I was probably 14 years old. I think I returned 3 or 4 years later when I read somewhere that you shouldn't pick the master key on your first character
Played it many years after release and my brother told me pyromancer was strong so that's what I chose. Probably knight otherwise just because he has cool armor
Wanderer, which is the second hardest start imo (thief being hardest) deprived being hard is a meme, the club is low key one of the better starting weapons. Also when is tarted i think enemy defense was higher vs slash damage, i remember doing like 2% hp damage to the balder guys per swing
Knight, but then I found the zweihander and wanted to use it but levelling up took forever on 1.0 souls
Then Bandit so I could grab the zwei as soon as I began and survive a bit better
Then I swapped to Thief because I wanted the master key to avoid the sewers, plus I wanted to use an estoc and hide behind my shield
Finally I got a good understanding of the game and picked Deprived
I've always picked Deprived since
Based.
Many based answers in this thread. My first was mage bc anons told me here it was OP. Now I know what they’re referring to, but because I was playing completely blind (minus flavor texts from here), I got my shit rocked. Even dropped the game a couple times… Eventually got good and started over as deprived to go on and defeat Gwyn.
DS is like my from pallet cleanser. Last time I played, I finally gained the effort to get PC3S going for Demons. I can easily see why it’s many anons favorite here.
I ended up doing this.
I never understood why people thought Artorious was hard. Because I had so much fricking health and poise I could chug estus during his combos, and just hit him out of the buff.
I didn't realize this was like, the strat. I just wanted to wear heavy armor
>picked thief because I wanted to be a cool ninja
>immediately get hopelessly lost in the back entrance to blight town thanks to master key
Knight because he is hot.
Can't imagine going in the front entrance of Blighttown.

The fearless Warrior of course
Bandit for Strength, still pick it on repeat playthroughs too
Always k***ht
Deprived is the only true experience
It doesn't matter since you are going to change your weapon/gear in like first 2 hours.
Weapon yes, gear no. Warrior got drip.
you can rock sorc cata until you get logans/tcc lel
Zanzibart Rollslop
unironically? thief, armor looked cool, starts with the master key

Cleric
Always Cleric.
Sometimes I choose warrior, thinking I want to get in some unga bunga smashing, but I always return to Cleric. In any RPG, really.
Is thief even a good starter class in DS3/Elden ring considering everyone pretty much midrolls as fast as ds1's fastroll
thief is the worst starter for new players to play in every souls game
pyromancer first run

Pyromancer
>Quelana my beloved
Pyromancer
I wound up dropping pyromancy to be a caveman with sorcery
Bandit. Big axe, good shield, low int.
cleric
never took off those robes and mained the mace until I got the demon great axe
what game?
Knight. I ended up being a fatrolling high poise tank build with the black iron set, greatshield of Artorias and the demon machete.

Deprived. The jumping 2h attack is just too good.
