I love it and if you care about what happens to the characters you're missing the point. 500 years on, Cloud, Tifa and the gang are going to be dead regardless of whether Meteor/Holy killed humanity or not. The important thing is that the planet survived.
The important thing is that it's asking the player if they think humans abandoned midgar because they stopped abusing the planet, or if planet killed humans to protect itself. Which is a way to say go vote green or you're gonna die.
He is 48 during the main game but says in terms of maturity for his species that equates to being a human teenager. So 500 years later he would be in the equivalent of his 70s
I always took that assessment as an approximation to make it easier for the party to understand Red's maturity level rather than an exact equivalent. It's worth keeping in mind that maturity cycles of animals are often very different to people.
An Osprey takes approximately 8 weeks from hatching to being fully grown and taking their first flight. From fledging to migration is another 4-6 weeks, most of which is spent building up a big food buffer for their long flight. Ospreys in the wild can then live for ~20 years, or 1040 weeks. So they go from birth to leaving home and fending for themselves in around 1.1% of their lifespan. Comparatively, if a human leaves home at 16 and lives to 80, you immediately see the process took approximately 20% of their lifespan.
Then on top of that you can start considering stuff like when breeding begins (and Ospreys will continue mating yearly until they die), but I feel like I'm already writing too much just to illustrate a simple point.
Different species have different timings on things. While it might take Red 48 years to be a mid-late teen in maturity, It's possible his species' lifespan is more than simply tripling that of a human.
Yeah I don't like the characters having a nice life in the ending while I'm sitting here like a gay stuck on this boring gay ass earth, so it was cool when everyone was nuked. Red it OK, he's just an animal lol
Red XIII was one of the MCs, and the Planet is shown in the Cosmo Canyon scene as not making much distinction between humans and other living things. So I'd argue that if Red XIII was spared, they all were.
survive what old age? At the end of the game Holy comes out of the ground and stops the meteor. If the meteor hit the planet then midgar wouldn't be a pile of ruins genius it would be a fricking country wide crater.
Holy's function is to destroy anything that it determines to be a threat to the planet. It's stated that Holy might also determine humanity to be enough of a threat to the planet to wipe them out, too, so Holy stopping Meteor doesn't mean humanity is necessarily safe anyway it was the Lifestream not Holy that stopped Meteor you fricking idiot
>they add DIE in ff7 >squall dies in disc one! >R=U >the cast of CT is dead in CC >Link marries malon
you headcanon morons are the fricking blackest ultra Black folk on the planet. did you not see AC? Dirge or Cerberus? What is it about PSX/N64 era rpgs that attracts autistic homosexuals like you to make up fanfiction about these games and try to convince others that your headcanon is real? literal troony tier autism
>did you not see AC? Dirge or Cerberus?
I must of missed the end screen in FFVII that told me to play those upcoming games to learn the ending the developers intended.
>. did you not see AC? Dirge or Cerberus?
putting aside that people can be in a very different place nearly a decade after making "quite possibly the greatest game ever made" and your company almost going up in smoke because you thought you were the next pixar -
the OG ff7 quite literally had people working on it that weren't involved with the compilation. it was sakaguchi who pushed for aerisdies.com being a thing. it was kitase that tard wrangled nojimas kingdom hearts autism and made sure the plot actually had stakes instead of endless mystery boxes and chunni action sequences like everything kitase has done with ff7 after the original game
I love the ending.
I always headcanon that the lifestream "reincarnated" everyone back into the stone ages.
But it's quite an experimental ending in which you don't know if the heroes survived or not.
Of course, this is ruined with all the following material. man why couldn't they do the compilation and remake shit with FF8. it needed the extra content and shit not ff7.
Nothing ambiguous about it. Meteor was destroyed, and the planet was saved. After it fades to black, it plays the sound of children laughing, and what's that supposed to imply if not the survival of a new generation of humans? The fact that Midgar was never rebuilt only shows that humanity chose not to make the same mistake of siphoning lifestream to make mako.
nothing ambiguous about it, it's pretty obvious that that everyone survived including Rufus and a few years later three silver-haired men were born from the lifestream and got Jenova's head and showed up in Neo Midgar and fought Cloud and one of them merged with Jenova's head and became Sephiroth again and Cloud used a new variant of Omnislash to kill him and a few years later a terrorist group being controlled by a mind copy of Hojo summoned Omega Weapon but Vincent fought them and stopped it and Gackt awakened from his crystal stasis
theres nothing ambiguous about it. mankind went back to respecting the planet like their ancestors, the Cetra. no more need for mako reactors and the desert badlands that surrounded midgar have healed
The ending is kinda lame, but at the same time I don't know how it should've actually been resolved. Would we really all be happier if everything was explained and everyone lived happily ever after? I mean, that would be a nice reward and resolution for completing a long story-heavy game. But I dunno. Isn't it more fun to let people decide what the ending was?
Should have had a long winded LOTR tier ending lasting 20-30mins with a dozen different scenes covering each character (Even the minor ones), how they went back to their lives, were reunited with loved ones, achieved their dreams and lived happily ever after. etc.
But instead we got everyone is le died because people bad. We can't have comfy endings anymore because it's not artistic enough.
My son wanted this game for christmas. His mother just died and we were low on money, I had been laid off from the cardboard factory three months earlier. My son wanted the game and the system so bad, I eventually sucked a guys dick for the money to get the console and game. He said he would be gentle but instead facefricked me and came in my mouth, making me gag. Turns out he had herpes and gave it to me. It was worth it to see my son smile at least for christmas. He really played FF7 a lot.
to be fair none of the fantastical elements like jenova come into play for 7 until cloud survives a skyscraper tier fall
before then its all just steampunk
>to be fair none of the fantastical elements like jenova come into play for 7 until cloud survives a skyscraper tier fall
you mean besides him taking a machine gun to the face and taking 2% of his lifebar in damage before zapping rent a cops with thunderbolts in the opening mission?
Based, have to wonder how many nips are seething in their cubicle about post-industrialized life while they make these. Sonic adventure is another title where the forces of nature fight back and wipe out a city.
In your last dream you go on a big adventure, discovering new places full with fairytales. You will find your dream love and become the hero of the world.
If humanity had died/vanished, Red XIII would've also died, as the Highland would suddenly be without a pilot.
So unless Red got his license off screen at some point, he's going down with the ship.
One of the dev's said the lifestream killed off the threats to the planet as meteor was getting btfo.
Meaning that as soon as the high wind landed everyone was killed except redxiii. The planet even created more of his species to let him populate the world. Also seto was unpetrifeied
Advent children in the actual og timeline doesnt exist
Dirge of Cerberus also doesnt exist in the timeline
I did not like it at the time.
I don't like it now. I just replayed the game for the first time in ages. Still love the world, story, music, graphics. But the ending still sucks.
>But the ending still sucks.
Advent Children was an apology letter imo.
An hour long extra ending to FF7.
Advent Children was even worse.
advent children absolutely sucked
man, go frick yourself and SE for that shit
what's ambiguous about it? Red 13 survived and became king of midgar
I love it and if you care about what happens to the characters you're missing the point. 500 years on, Cloud, Tifa and the gang are going to be dead regardless of whether Meteor/Holy killed humanity or not. The important thing is that the planet survived.
also those cosmo canyon lion things
You think I care about that shit? I want to see who hooked up
The important thing is that it's asking the player if they think humans abandoned midgar because they stopped abusing the planet, or if planet killed humans to protect itself. Which is a way to say go vote green or you're gonna die.
Did Red have kids with Aeris afterall? Dumb ending.
How long does Red XIII's species live?
He is 48 during the main game but says in terms of maturity for his species that equates to being a human teenager. So 500 years later he would be in the equivalent of his 70s

ending is not ambiguous
It is as to whether the main characters, other than Red XII, survived.
it's irrelevant 500 years later
They were with him. It is reasonable to assume they did.
Red XIII was one of the MCs, and the Planet is shown in the Cosmo Canyon scene as not making much distinction between humans and other living things. So I'd argue that if Red XIII was spared, they all were.

cringe
didn't know Nomura posted here

I must of missed the end screen in FFVII that told me to play those upcoming games to learn the ending the developers intended.
Cope.Totally canonical.
none of that homosexual cashgrab shit has anything to do with ff7.
AC is worse than the most ambigous reading of the original ending
>. did you not see AC? Dirge or Cerberus?
putting aside that people can be in a very different place nearly a decade after making "quite possibly the greatest game ever made" and your company almost going up in smoke because you thought you were the next pixar -

FF7 had a story?
How was it ambiguous?
The planet was saved and Shinra was defunct. Did you want a sandlot style slideshow of every character?
It's not all that ambiguous you can hear human voices when the title card displays.
I love the ending.
I always headcanon that the lifestream "reincarnated" everyone back into the stone ages.
But it's quite an experimental ending in which you don't know if the heroes survived or not.

>ambiguous
it's not ambiguous, they did retcon the shit out of it for subsequent games/movies though
I thought it was perfect. Still do.
Same. Even as a kid I thought it was satisfying, especially as far as “ambiguous” endings are concerned.
It was thematically great and it's sad that it was ruined for the sake sequel bullshit and the extended universe was an absolute cancer.
I got the impression that humanity was saved and following generations ended up leaving the techno-hellscape of Midgar.
It's simply the most melancholic ending in vidya.
there's literally no evidence that any link ever ended up banging any zelda ever in the history of all timelines
Then where do new Links come from?
in ancient times the goddesses laid a bunch of link eggs in a dungeon far beneath hyrule and every so often one hatches
Aren't the Spirit Tracks ones canonically the descendants of the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass duo?
Link canonically impregnates every Zelda except for Zelda 1. That Link Impregnated Zelda 2.
It was multiple endings. One was a repeat of the original, one was where Cloud saves Aeris, and one was in the lifestream.
nothing ambiguous about it, it's pretty obvious that that everyone survived including Rufus and a few years later three silver-haired men were born from the lifestream and got Jenova's head and showed up in Neo Midgar and fought Cloud and one of them merged with Jenova's head and became Sephiroth again and Cloud used a new variant of Omnislash to kill him and a few years later a terrorist group being controlled by a mind copy of Hojo summoned Omega Weapon but Vincent fought them and stopped it and Gackt awakened from his crystal stasis

it's based on a true story so obviously the world didnt end
My son wanted this game for christmas. His mother just died and we were low on money, I had been laid off from the cardboard factory three months earlier. Uh
i guess nanaki is the only ff7 character that gets laid, everyone else are subhumans that have nothing to live for.
This is canon and pure sovl not the retcon shit they pulled in AC.
Wild rumors says, that the mc in all final fantasy's dies early on and at that point the final fantasy starts.
FF8 and Ff10 made it very obvioues.
It is said, as soon the chocobos apear and the moogs, they are already dead and in there last fangasy dream.
to be fair none of the fantastical elements like jenova come into play for 7 until cloud survives a skyscraper tier fall
before then its all just steampunk
I wonder if the same for ff9 after the airship crash?
Maybe Terra dies too instead of waking in that bed?
Moogs apear as soon she dies in the cave. It is true.
This, same with ff9. All the monsters are just part of the theater until they crash into the woods.
A bed of small little flowers slowed down his fall.
>to be fair none of the fantastical elements like jenova come into play for 7 until cloud survives a skyscraper tier fall
you mean besides him taking a machine gun to the face and taking 2% of his lifebar in damage before zapping rent a cops with thunderbolts in the opening mission?
When do the Warriors of Light die in FF1? I can see windows for every other game
garland beat their asses in because a few upstart adventurers thought they could take on a former knight of cornelia
Based, have to wonder how many nips are seething in their cubicle about post-industrialized life while they make these. Sonic adventure is another title where the forces of nature fight back and wipe out a city.
Final Fantasy is a story about the last dream when you die, the finally phantasm.
Never beat it. Got bored on the second disk
In your last dream you go on a big adventure, discovering new places full with fairytales. You will find your dream love and become the hero of the world.
t. every ff until enix fricked it up.
>your party dies at the start of 2 and you have a group dream of the entire game
If humanity had died/vanished, Red XIII would've also died, as the Highland would suddenly be without a pilot.
So unless Red got his license off screen at some point, he's going down with the ship.

Why would you make a spoiler thread for the greatest videogame of all time??? Do you want to ruin people's experience???
I liked it. Too bad Advent Children SHAT on it.
