It's inferior but only due to the part at 2:33 being so subdued that it sounds like practically nothing which is a shame because it started off at a bit creepier than the original. Flurrie's theme sounds more risqué though and thus better.
Yeah everyone on here is b***hing about it but I've loved basically every track I've heard. I want the full version of the Hooktail Castle battle theme, and I'm incredibly curious to hear what new tracks are included, considering there's already confirmed to be new, partner-specific themes and stuff like Rogueport Sewers having different versions depending on what sublevel you're on.

i know everyone hates the new music but i loved origami kings soundtrack and to me the new music just combines the best of both worlds

It's not bad. It'd be cool if they had a different version for the rematch. Same with Magnus Von Grapple and the dragons
