What do you call this artstyle?
I've heard lots of people say typical shit like "deviantart cringe" or whatever, but is there an actual term for it? I quite like the art is Dust and Elysian tail, but so many people seem to think of it as being bad or whatever.
It kinda reminds me early 2000's internet stuff for some reason.

Yes, I know the art isn't some extreme high quality thing, but there must be an actual term for this sort of style.

"Webcomic Style"
Webcomic style like said. And it's reminiscent of TwoKinds.
>two main characters share the same colors
>Dust is an amnesiac
>fantasy setting
>Neopets
Glad I'm not the only one who thought this when I saw Fidget.
Cool guy.
This. I was seriously impressed by the VA work in spite of the game's visuals, but the look did grow on me.
Fidget is adorable. Also I really enjoyed the moments when she gets meta and just casually tells you about playing with game mechanics. It reminded me of Daxter from the Jak & Daxter games. I miss when video games had characters like that.
Twokinds has been going for like 20 years and it feels like nothing has happened. I still like it though.
I like Slightly Damned more.
I understand. Twokinds was the first webcomic I got into and was obsessed. I actually discovered Slightly Damned from Twokinds's home page becuase of a little banner ad. After reading the latter, I came to the conclusion that while Tom is technically a better artist, the writing in SD is objectively better. I think the biggest shortcoming of TK is he has too many characters to juggle.
I will never forgive Twokinds for making me a furry. Or giving me my fetish for null furry girls.
Don't forget pregnant null furry girls.
That too. No idea how it works, but I likes it.
>now remember all those cute anthro girls Andrew Dickman drew in his proto-90s style
>all gone since he took everything down from his old DA
Dammit
>Andrew Dickman
Suppose there's the 50/50 if you can get the art off Internet Archive
Reminds me of Neo Monstergirl Island and all its lost media. I had the massive hots for the Meo the mothgirl and Titania based on some other kaiju.
I'm still on the search and its just fricking gone from the net. Early sketches, WIP's, completed pre-patreon era exclusives and more
>two main characters share the same colors
>Dust is an amnesiac
>fantasy setting
How the frick did I never notice that?
To be fair, a hero having amnesia and being a weird world isn't exactly an original concept.
The coloring does seem more direct though. Perhaps it is a coincidence, or maybe it is a reference to twokinds, or possibly an unconscious choice based on influence he didn't know he was making.
Did Dust ever commit genocide?
YES! Well, KINDA OF!
Spoilers for the game below.
"Cassius was the most trusted elite assassin who worked closely with General Gaius, exterminating Moonbloods at Gaius' command. His job also involved assassinating the Warmbloods who assisted the Moonbloods in any form. General Gaius and Cassius often labeled them as "Moonblood Sympathizers."
Prior to the game timeline, Baron Kane revealed the location of a Moonblood Sympathizer village hidden in the Blackmoor Mountains. Cassius and Gaius' army were ordered to storm Zeplich Village, killing everyone except Ginger, who somehow survived the attack and fled to Aurora Village. Cassius was confronted by the angered Jin, Ginger's brother, and the two battled, killing each other simultaneously with their souls intertwining in death. "
It's cool that Tom (creator of twokinds) ended up being quite a big fan of the game as well, drew a fair bit of art.
Good to know there's no bad blood.
No matter your thoughts on him as a person, Tom's art is some of the best there is of Dust.
needs more seggs

yea it's called

>dust was made by one guy
Audio was outsourced though.
Kinda blows my mind how many people say the voice acting is "bad". I quite like the voice acting and what they were going for. It was a certain style, and had a lot of effort put into it.
That's just for one scene, just a few lines, and it took so many takes to get things "just right".
Then again, I know it's all subjective, and a lot of people hate fidget's voice for example, whilst I think it's perfectly fitting.
I think a lot of people just really want to hate things that aren't what they are normally used to.
I refunded the game because the flying paw fetish furbait character sounded too annoying. I am probably autistic thoughever.
You're autistic. Game has fun air combat
the only voice i hate is from main character himself, he tries to hard to make "cool and badass" sounding voice.
You know, I'd damn near call this an obsessive level of performance expectation, but I'll be damned if it didn't end up being drastically better than that first take. Worth it. Good dialogue.
There are definitely some characters that have bad voice acting but a lot of it is actually just bad writing too
I never felt it was bad on either fronts. I mean, I'm not saying it was some superbly written novella or anything like that, but I never felt there was anything wrong with it. It had some pretty good lines, some nice humor, etc.
It's really corny
Subjective I guess. I had a fair amount of fun with it. It's simple, but it didn't need to be anything other than what it was.
I had two or three problems with the game.
First is that it just cuts short and ends. You've got some plot about finding runes or something, and they you're suddenly fighting the army and kill the general. Yes, they ran out of time and budget and needed to wrap it up unexpectedly, but that doesn't make the ending better.
The second is combat. It has a decent parry system which you basically never need to use because early fights can be easily beaten with dash away-dash attack and later fights you can just spam lightning on everything. So you never got to really practice parrying unless you liked facetanking fights and were never good at it when the situation actually came up.
The third was the sorta-flying mechanic, although I don't really know if that was intended to be used for much beyond the occasional hidden thing to find.
I thought the art was good and the voice acting fine.
you're really mad about something. you ok?
Peak 2000s webcomic cringe kino. None of you zoomers were alive for it.
Onahole
I'd call it "a westerner attempting to be like his animays he watched as a kid like naruto"
2000's weeaboo style
Not really anon. Its an artstyle from the 2000 era where ppl who used to draw warner bros stuff tried their luck with anime and mixed both up a bit. Lots of that stuff ended up on deviantart, webcomics and in rare occasions, games. Jazz jackrabbit is f.e. a game the dude from dust also worked on
Not everything has a name, its just some artstyle that appeared more often in a specific era
old-ish furry art
up until some point in the 00s, all furgay artists had that half-cartoony style
ugly, immature
"human men breeding sow"
2000s webcomic soul
Bootleg disney.
western style
Looks like a cheap old cartoon movies you would find on strange VHS that tried too hard to be Disney knockoff.

idk but it looks disgusting and made me drop the game (also the shitty combat feel and respawning enemies)
Old school furry.
Jazz Jackrabbit style. But that'd be cheating
Actually yeah this. It's perfectly early-web + old-school furry. could go so far as to say it's newgrounds style, but newgrounds gave off a different feel at the time.
Game example
Neo pets style
nailed it
It's like, budget Neopets art or something, how strange.
i seriously thought this was neopets. what is this actually then?
Game's called Dust an Elisian tale. Gameplay's supposedly quite good.
No I couldn't be bothered to spell it right.
>What do you call this artstyle?
Comic book furry?
>old Black person
Me and my stupid brain again reading the dumbest shit
Well, that's technically IS Fred Perry.
His Autobot comics made me cum buckets. Based black man indeed
God bless his soul
2000s webcomic seems appropriate
devianart had a lot of it which is why people call it devianart artstyle
There's no popularly recognized term for it no.
As for why people think it's bad, it's partly due to association (let's not lie here, 99 percent of the time when you see that artstyle, it's because you're looking at furry porn).
I would argue it's the vaguely neotenous, anime-esque faces combined with implicitly sexualized character designs in the art that draws this association.
You can't tell me that the creature you posted needed to have thighs like that, nor did it need to be naked.
Basically, it's because they can tell that the person who drew the furry creatures in the game also wants to frick the furry creatures in the game.
Its this guy's art. This is the guy who drew it. When you praise the style, keep in mind you are litterally worshipping some gross ass looking sperg with autism. Know it, internalize, the die in shame.

He looks okay, anon. I don't know why you hate him so much.
Anon's clearly projecting and hates himself.
This dude is soul. Jazz Jackrabbits music is also kino. Especially 2's
I wish games started using trackerchads for music again. I swear vampire survivors does it
Looks like a very sovlful individual in my honest opinion.
I bet this is the kind of guy who worships Quintin Terrentino or Steven Spielberg. And when you point out the hypocrisy, it's all "they're an exception!"

I envy all artists, even Chris chan
I completely lack the discipline and creativity to do something even fricking the CWC comics.
Have you tried writing or composing instead
Or woodworking or something
No, I do gamedev.
Making a roguelike
It's fulfilling, but I know I'm making something no one will really enjoy unless I go full roguelike Mozart and make something like Dwarf Fortress.
And even my current project is on hiatus because I'm so lacking in creativity I'm struggling to think of a direction to take it that isn't generic D&D fantasy roguelike.
I believe in you anon. I've played dozens of 7DRL and *eddit roguelikedev tutorial games which were the most barebones or dev's first project games you could think of. And I still truly enjoyed a whole bunch of them.
But I also couldn't really get into certain huge games like frogcomposband.
Someone is bound to find your game and think it's neat.
not even not even shitposters are even calling you based on the principle of having this much (you)'s

Isn't the term "OP" usually just used for the person who made the thread?
I want every non-gross looking sperg without autism leave the gamedev RIGHT NOW.
I'm happy that his game really took off and became successful. Don't believe me? We're talking about it right now!

This anon looks like He fricks human men
I would if I was a bat
Why does it look as if he hasn't improved at all since like 2003? I mean holy shit its still okay but did he stop drawing for 20 years?
I don't think the dude is someone who draws a lot or whatever. They just wanted to make some characters, which turned into a story, that turned into a game, and that was enough for them.
To be honest, I quite like the style, and I don't really think it needs to go any further, or that being "better" would really have much of an impact on the feeling it evokes in me. That's all subjective though.
Animators don't have time to improve a style.
Say what you will about the art style, dude is still a programmer at heart, and he's been working at whatever project he's been going at for ages now. Dude's dedication is honestly inspiring.
Is Dean right? Can we all make our dreams come true?
2010's cheap weeb furry art >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> modern disney rainbow neo slop furry art
Actually pretty insane he went from learning how to code -> released game all in 3 years. Wish I had work ethic like that
>learning how to code -> released game all in 3 years
Holy shit, really is all in motivation huh? Suppose I could learn a new language pretty quickly I just put the damn effort in
Just wait for AI to get better, there's no point in learning any of this stuff now.
I'm too autistic for that. I'd rather be able to do something mostly by my own hands
I can understand the sentiment, but you're basically just sinking time and effort into something that could easily be done in a better, nicer, more efficient way. At some point this isn't just a stylistic or personal choice, but rather celebrating inefficiency.
Er, no, it definitely is a personal choice thank you very much
You sound like an idea guy who wants a finished product to materialize in front of him rather than someone who actually wants to create something.
That is pretty much what AI allows people to do.
And that is pretty much why most AI creations are soulless slop.
No point but doing it traditional will always be a valid hobby.
gooning-core
I love the artstyle of neopets as well. There's a similarity here.
It doesn't have a name because with taste don't waste their time codifying trash.
Early deviantart feels like a poorman's adaptation of 80's anime.

I've not even ever read this but i've been looking at porn of it for the longest time
Same for Uberquest but I did read that a few years ago - I kinda like it but it's really not going anywhere and has not for years. It's just porn bait to sell more commissions of the chubby puppy.
>It's just porn bait to sell more commissions
That's the majority of furry webcomics. They can claim and say otherwise all they want but that's the real bread and butter.
I read 3 pages of Uberquest and lost interest.
That's close enough for me. And speak of the devil, Markipliers brother drew it.
Dust looked fine, other than the horrendous close-up portraits of most of the cast. Shame there was no way to turn those off.
I still don't know how Chalo stomachs doing webcomics to this day.
I unironically miss Chalo's earlier art. I feel he peaked in 2013-2016.
how does he draw now?
The cows are from 2017-ish.
Cat is 2023
reading two kinds and better days in early 2000s was so fricking kino
Old gay here. It cracks me up that I used to think this was good art.
I love how you could look around the map and just see Fidget doing cute shit.
If you're asking about the artstyle meaning the shading or whatever, it is indeed the kind they use on deviantart the most. It's basically two level cel shading. If you're asking what the art style is meaning the way the characters are designed, it's called Kemono. And originates in Japan. But because of the different shading style, and a number of other design decisions, it's easy to spot when it doesn't come to Japan.
"Western critter sexo" style
It's called arrested development
"I drew better than kids in school and got praised for it, and I never grew further than that because why should I? I'm better than those other kids"
its very webcomic like and honestly its what drew me to the game and I love it so much
Looks like he gave up all pretense of modesty and went full coom. At least he didn't actively get worse like some other artists.
>At least he didn't actively get worse like some other artists.
I feel like a lot of the 'other' artists either keep simplifying shit until it looks boring (probably to bang them out quicker), or draw the exact same 'ideal' body on every single drawing.
>who is "Andrew Dobson"
ON THE OTHER HAND, Penny Arcade went the complete opposite. A simplified recognizable style, to full on goblin-mode.
he's never getting rid of his sameface syndrome
It's just western mid-2000s art done attempting to be done in the style of eastern art
Anytime now....
Can someone explain this to me.
Way back in the early 2000s, I came across his website. It blew my mind how they could animate and such and do all that stuff with the limited computing power and budgets at the time. I was younger then, didn't understand all the lore behind Dust and what Dean was doing, I just saw cute mouse girl and waited for the day this movie would come out.
Then the video game was released years later and...no Bonnie. But it still had the Elysian Tail branding. I don't even remember Fidget being in the early animated shorts I saw on his website.
From what I recall, same universe, different story. I believe some of the generic looking characters/equipment appear in both (some of the knights, airships, etc), but otherwise, they are different parts of the world.
Thanks.
That's my waifur
Limited animation where characters are chopped up into pieces that move independently instead of full frame animation.
Any games like Dust? Combat is based despite the furry shit

I remember watching ginx tv as a kid and they'd constantly cycle the same 10 or so reviews, dust was one of them
best way to bring in the new years.
Big ol gecko tiddies! anon is based
Artstyle that makes my penis hard. I bought the game with my wiener basically and in the end it was a good game so i made a good decision for the wrong reasons.
yrdy
I call it "for human men"
Deviantart
for a game made by mostly 1 guy i have to say it does look impressive
Interesting that this website still exists.
god, it's like a fricking time capsule
The golden years. How did things end up going so badly so quickly when it came to web interfaces? Everything now is so samey and "clean" or whatever. No soul at all.
Mobile browsing and smartphones ruined the internet.
Web design is now designed, catered, and optimized to fit on mobile screens. Sites that utilize a PC interface can only be found in niche numbers or very old sites that are still preserved as they were (which are dropping out of existence by the day).
You want time capsule? https://wiby.me/ hit 'surprise me' a few times.
He's shitting up twitter a lot, apparently working on some unity game.
Dust 2 soon, along with Deltarune chapter 3 and Silksong.
Again? I understand dust was a bit of a miracle game but why won't he come back to it? Even a re-release that doesn't have the garbo ending would be good
SOUL
Holy frick, the early 2000 website is so comfy.. frick man I missed it god damn much.
its just an old silly animation but check newgrounds for "dendyn dynasties", you might like it anon
DUDE I FRICKING LOVE DENDYN DYNASTIES.
I've saved several copies of it, flash and mp4 and stuff and whatever else. Watch it every now and then. Still fricking incredible.
My man! A shame that nothing ever emerged from it, Ryanide still made some nice small pixel animations on his deviantart but then just stopped aswell
Nice to see that theres still people out there who remember some old hidden gems like these
Honestly, growing up on stuff like Flash Portal and whatever must have influencing me something fierce with how much I love the style of things like Dust and whatever. I lean heavily into "cute" things as well so I guess it's all connected in a way.
I recall the dude who made that specific animation made a few others as well. I totally have the SWF files downloaded but good fricking luck if you want to find them online somewhere today, what with flash being thrown out.
>good fricking luck if you want to find them online somewhere today, what with flash being thrown out.
Could always check around the Flashpoint archive
That's true. I know Dendyn is on there. Good chances.

SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE SONG IN THE BACKGROUND IS.
Is it literally just a song HE made for the video? It's such a fricking cool theme and the fact that's all there is is deeply upsetting to me.
I believe it's an original song by the creator himself
There was two versions of this animation and this one's description mentions him remixing the theme. The original was even more midi sounding.
https://www.deviantart.com/ryanide/art/Dendyn-Dynasties-ver0-2-34408754
Yeah, I do remember both versions. I recall being a bit surprised first time I saw the newer one, thinking "awww, they got rid of the old music?", but the new one grew on me quickly.
Badass tune. Shame the dude is probably dead, considering the lack of updates on... ANYTHING.
Happy his art accounts are still up
Good having remnants of that 00s look still hanging around
Niran and Chu are PEAK character design.
HOLY FRICKING SOUL
Niran and chu have very recognizable designs, love those two
Not sure if the goat was inspired by anything in particular, but I absolutely adore that entire martial arts moment.
Reminds me of RWBY
Frick, and you're telling me this guy didn't presume animation?
Genuinely one of the best little animations you could find on a ton of flash sites back in the day, and yeah. The dude never went onto do anything. Made a bunch of WIP short posts and little animations here and there, then just... stopped. Years ago. Decent chance they are just dead.
I like to be optimistic and argue that he moved on to other hobbies. A lot of these flash animations were done out of pure passion and it simply ended at that.
They had such talent. Imagine making that with the technology of the time.
Now we have so much more technology available for animation, we should be making even better things! What do we get now? Half assed animatic storyteller youtuber animations, skibibibidi toilet, and Al slop.
Oh and puppet rigged animation.
But people like this guy and Dean were making great animations happen in the early to mid 2000s, when the Internet was much smaller, and so much of this stuff is forgotten among the masses of today
Well said. Technology can advance until we reach the stars, but the reason people aren't as creative as they used to be isn't a tech or skill limitation, but an attitude limitation. People don't want to make stuff for the same reasons they used to back then.
People worked on passion projects because they just wanted to.
Now its
>kickstart me!
>donate to my patreon
>like, subscribe, comment so I get more ad revenue
Its always money driven now.
Yeah, it's a real shame. I've even tried explaining the idea of creating something as a fun hobby, and I've seen anons reply with "Why bother wasting your time if you can't make money with it" while shitposting on Ganker. I really hope I was being trolled because I don't want to acknowledge that I share a site with these "people".
In the past it was practically impossible to get paid for what you were doing, but now you can get paid for sitting on your ass and playing video games. If someone said you could be earning money for just doing what you were going to do anyway, wouldn't you feel stupid for not trying to get money?
Turning hobbies into something you get paid for sounds great but sometimes its dilutes the final product, because people get lazy. Its easier to put in the bare minimum needed and still get paid.
The monetization of hobbies is actually kinda sad. Everyone does it now. Everyone wants your eyes on their videos. Merch, so many fricking people have merch now! Gib me monies!!! With peoples main jobs sucking with pay stagnating and rising costs everywhere, its no wonder people need to try making money of their everyday lives - they arent making ends meet without it.
Do you want to always be "on", anon? Always filmed for the sake of a buck? You wanna live the real Truman Show? Wanna have it all fall apart the second you do something wrong? Shit shit sucks now.
Art, and creativity will always be at odds with monetization. Because a profit-motive will always lead to "efficiency" and speed as opposed to quality that's subject to the ebbs and flows of one's creative juices. But you initially misdiagnosed the problem. The real problem as you wrote later on is the fact that artists MUST appeal to the trends and desires of their paymasters otherwise they don't get to live. I guarantee you'd see a lot more passion projects if artists didn't have to worry about losing their house or health insurance.
*presue
I never heard of this till now. Thanks for sharing anon its so cool. Loved the gun part here. You could always search his name online see if anything comes up.
>I've saved several copies of it, flash and mp4
Can you post them on catbox or something? I remember downloading swfs and exes back in the day for Flash. Man I wish I could go back.
There's an easier way. His devient art page has all his animations over the years. They don't look like animations from the thumbnails, but they are. Go on the page, and click the little download button underneath.
https://www.deviantart.com/ryanide/art/Dendyn-Dynasties-22718958
There's one as an example.
Even easier was is to just download flashpoint and use that to play the file. Extremely great tool, that one.
>and click the little download button underneath.
You need to have an account to download things now those fricking Black folk made that change a whole ago.
Then the even easier flashpoint was is the way to go.

100%
If you're not a completely pessemistic butthole, then you could simply look back on it as being a fun game if nothing revolutionary, and something that clearly had a lot of work and passion put into that, that also resonates more strongly with certain people for specific reasons, be that the music, the world, or just the cute anthro characters.
Dust isn't incredible, but if you enjoy what it's going for, it's some of the best there is.
It had a baller soundtrack even back then.
?si=VHWAlzn76HSnO8vi
As for the game itself? It's a fun little game with a lot of heart put into it. It hit a very specific itch in terms of tone that I adore. I just wish you had a couple more abilities.
I loved it back then and still love it now, for me at least I can tell 100% sure it's not just nostalgia.
Why the dev didn't made more? It just got bored or it's just a one time closed ending story?
he made a Metal Gear clone that nobody played
Hmm maybe because Dust didn't sold enough and it was too much effort for one person to continue making more.
https://store.steampowered.com/app/236090/Dust_An_Elysian_Tail/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/792880/Never_Stop_Sneakin/
how about you compare the amount of steam reviews my dear ESL
Dust was made because the dev won a contest made by Microsoft where the winner would have gotten funding for a game that would be published on Xbox live Arcade. Maybe the game just didn't reach an income that would have justified the dev to make more, because 16k review isn't that much.
Shovel Knight only has 12k reviews despite only coming out a mere year later and being a much lauded success that received 3 free expansions. You're coping and moronic. Simple as.
Anon... Shovel knight is made in pixel.
It's a pixelshit.
Pixel art is way way cheaper and way less effort to make.
The estimated ratio of players/review is something like 30-100. 16k reviews is plenty unless you are comparing it to AAA releases.
It won a contest that gave the project enough funding for the solo dev to make something of relatively good quality. I don't know how much funding it was but even if it received 100k it was enough for the dev to work on it full time for a certain amount but if the game managed to make the same amount or slightly more there's simply no reason to continue working on another game. Because it's too much effort for one person and certainly the game did not made enough to hire more people.
I followed development basically from the start since it was put up on Tigsource (rest in peace) and iirc had frequent posts on updates.
I didn't like the actual game in the end. But it did look cool.
It was cool indeed especially for it's time.
Fricking Abadis Forest, man. That track has lived rent free in my head FOR A DECADE. Whatever the frick Hyperduck were on during this game's production, I hope they didn't smoke it all in one go.
Digital art
it comes from those 00's "how to draw manga" books and western anime-esque cartoons
I've had this game in my library for a time but never got to playing it.
unironically 'deviant art style'. these artists broke their teeth on flash and pirated copies of photoshop and many were self taught with no formal education in art.
I'd just say Flash, I guess. Flash is an extremely specific style on its own, and very recognizable if you know how to differentiate it. It's like a western style that's trying hard to emulate eastern styles, but obviously held back either by limitations with the program or by the artist themselves. Old Newgrounds and the Duel Masters game for PS2 is usually what I think of. It came from an era of innocence.
>blue hair in the pic there is indeed a girl
Kek, can really tell it's a fake anime style when my internal bishi detector fails me. Cute design.
Duel Masters for PS2 is a hidden gem when it comes to its story and characters. It's fricking hysterical and I recommend everyone go and watch the cutscenes for it. It is tryhard anime made by western DeviantArt artists at its finest.
I'm wondering what the story is behind this game because there's very times an obscure Japanese franchise gets a Western devved game
>I've heard lots of people say typical shit like "deviantart cringe" or whatever, but is there an actual term for it?
I dunno, that term seems about as accurate to the style as you're going to get. Maybe "mid 2000's DA" if you're a stick in the mud.
AAAAAAND WE'RE OFF!!
To another quality year!
Hope this one is somewhat decent.
a year where we still get to play Dust: An Elysian Tail is surely a year worth remembering
Why are there more and more Dust threads popping up? Did a youtuber make a video essay or some shit?
A mix of anime and cartoon.
early touhou windows era is pretty deviantart-esque.
Early windows era style looks too distinct. I'd say when ZUN embraced full digital is when he became DAesque. Look at his TD portraits for example.
>buy
>game
Huh? Why? Should I start paying for porn too?
its made by like 1 Black person and he DESERVES the sale (or just pirate it idc lol)
If you want more look into 2000s ameture. or indie stuff. It's less a style and more of a milieu. It's about anime being experimented with when it's new to a certain audience. Dont worry about cringe. People who deny themself happiness to appease faceless internet shut ins gain nothing.
>Tom
everyone on this gay ass thread needs to close Ganker and BUY DUST AN ELYSIAN TAIL RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!
I already own it though
boot it up, play it, come back THEN we'll talk............
Not on Xbox.
Be better.
this game is on PC Black person write better bait. no (YOU) for you.
I already played it millions billions years ago
it makes me happy to know that Ganker has played a good game or two for once, but go play it AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!
I'd rather buy some dusty balls at a bakery than to taint my steam account with this shit.
i heard the gameplay is mediocre and characters aren't that hot so no
>thinking of all the different games i played the day of their release
>this of all things is included in that list
so fricking strange and pretty much no one i know knows about this game but honestly why would they. 100%ed it on the steam version a couple years back and it still holds up pretty nicely aside from the story which was already pretty shit
>The schizo was right
>Tells you to have a nice day
This fricking side quest was a trip
>the only way to complete the quest is to actually have a nice day
KINO.
WHERE IS THE FRICKING SEQUEL!
No one bought his second game Never Stop Sneakin'.
Good. It was shit.
Shame he fricked up so bad on that. He even set the game up for a sequel.
dustbros? we've FALLEN.
Shit. Guess we all better buy that SHITTY GAME to fund Dust 2: Redustgance.
God I remember that game being shilled on the 2bfp podcast
Beasts crave the human touch.
kek
didnt that zookeeper literally inseminate that crane later on?
Repeatedly. They have five children.
Freedom planet is still the better cringekino
Freedom Planet is literally Sonic but good
Freedom Planet is actually a good game though unlike this shit tier deviantartvania
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Personally I'm happy the game got the overwhelmingly positive reception that it did. Well deserved.
amateur, westernized, furry, carebear-core
"deviantart cringe" sounds right
anime for gaijin who can't draw anime
Thank you for reminding me that Fidget exists, OP. First fap of the new year
Might as well post this.
Why is Patamon blushing
I hate this fricking creature, its dead eyes make me want to kill it
It's just kind of amateur. Also this is just personal preference, but I find human-proportioned furries to be pretty boring in design. That's why I only really liked Fidget. Also helped that she was voiced by someone with more experience than the other actors.
DreamWorks-inspired
not really old Disney
Fidget is cute and sexy and all (being built for human men) but I find her personality to be really endearing. Like she starts off fidgety, as to be true to her name, but she really does grow on you after a while. To the point where you feel sad when they have to part ways.
I can't remember how long it's been since a game had a female companion who did something besides b***h and complain about you not doing a good enough job.
neopets+furgay artstyle
Good game, but bad art style.
early 2000 deviant art furry tier.
It looks very webcomicy of the time that people would praise for its 'good art' since there was nothing better at the time to compare.
vintage furry
Ah yes, Fidget. The original Paimon.
No artists drawing new Fidget lewds? What are ya, all hung over?
>dust an elysian tail
How the FRICK does this game have 96% on steam? How the FRICK did you homosexuals shill it to me?
The combat is not only incredibly braindead consisting of spamming the same aoe-mega-btfo moves for 922 hours against damage sponge enemies that pose no threat, once every half an hour you get hit once and get one-shot. The characters and plot are the ultimate definition of cringe. Fidget started as insanely obnoxious and made me want tk kill myself, but everything else was so bad that she looped around to being the most pleasant character in the game. The regions arent even connected, you just open a map and TP to each region. The unlockable movement abilities are used solely to access these side nooks that require a specific scripted movement ability to cross which are constantly placed in the early game to blueball you
Im convinced all these tens of thousands of people who gave it a positive review just collectively desired to frick fidget
2/999
Filtered.
>Im convinced all these tens of thousands of people who gave it a positive review just collectively desired to frick fidget
that's about it. I mean, wouldn't you?
What did you expect out of a fetish game?
>Im convinced all these tens of thousands of people who gave it a positive review just collectively desired to frick fidget
Check out big brain Sherlock over here. Only took you 10 years.
I was actually surprised that it was proper game. Usually with furry devs you never see finished product. Gameplay wasn't that bad really, it's way better than any porn game for sure which is what you really should compare to.
>I didn't like this game so everyone who did is wrong and its all actually some elaborate conspiracy created just to bait me specifically into playing this game
>people are now nostalgic for shitty early 2000s furry art
What is wrong with you?
It's not shitty
The past was shitty, the present is shittier and the future doesn't look any less shit.
it was shit but unique shit. It felt original before being totally influence by anime
deviantart cringe
>"i want to frick it, that means it's good art!"
>literally wants to frick anything that looks like an animal
furries need gassed
In comparison to what teens consider attractive nowadays it wasn't that bed actually.
>this is what oldschool furry art is to people now
Okay grandpa what was considered old school furry art before this?
Stuff like Terrie Smith and all those pen & paper VCL artists.
Looks Disney-ish. Pretty sure this style is more popular nowadays than the 2000's pseudo weeb furry.
I don't see such style very often anymore. Nowadays the most influence people have is cheap calart from shitty nu cartoon network garbage.
>search DeviantArt for "furry"
>The entire first couple of pages of results are just AI porn
Grim. Anyway, when filtering AI out this is one of the first results. You can see it takes more from the early Disney look than anything else. I think Zootopia had a hand in bringing that style back. There are still some super "kemono" looking furry artists out there that are heavily anime looking, but the 2000's Flash weeb look is almost entirely gone.
That kind of style was influenced by Disney but not the Disney you have today with 3D movie but actually the 2D era Disney where you can clearly see it's influence over this kind of art where also Dust was probably influenced. But Disney ditched 2D for quite a while now and even movies like Zootopia don't have the same kind if influence.
That kind of Disney art you refer was just a result of old 2D Disney which still today keep some momentum but it's slowly dying just like Disney itself.
The key difference is pencil drawing vs digital. The old school furgays had very traditional construction techniques and therefore the art has a much more 'classical' style for shapes and shading versus the highly edited digital art of today.
There is a good documentary showing the pre internet into internet transition:
wait until twitter art is considered rare
I wish furry women were real
So this thread is full of furgays?
It's a furgay game so yes
(you)

Gimme that flying onahole being cumflated

Disney isnt as blatant as you think.
This old rough style just makes me remember simpler times. Holy frick I'm getting old...
LOL MATT ADMITS HIS PATREON IS A SCAM AND HE'S NOT EVEN WORKING ON THE GAME

she's voice acted by a vietnamese btw
>It kinda reminds me early 2000's internet stuff for some reason.
so deviantart cringe
Yiffy owo
it's called furhomosexualry
Kinda want to see that creature obese
Dust is the only game I've ever 100% (or 108 or whatever) completed in my entire life
It was that perfect combination of hitting teenage me's fetishes, short enough that my ADD ass could finish it, and stylish enough that it felt worth it
Plapslop
