yeah they wanted to release the game and see how it did with sales/fans before working on DLCs, they announced 2 DLCs in september

No it fricking didn't moron, its getting 2 cut content dlc and it getting a pc port has nothing to do with how poor or well it sold on ps5 especially when they already said years ago that a pc version was happening after the console version releases
Pretty much this. They’ll put someone else in charge and once again mandate an action game because this is what the execs believe will sell in the west. Despite Persona encroaching on the franchise’s crown as the quintessential JRPG and fricking Pokemon moving four times the units at one tenth the budget and effort, SE execs will continue to insist there’s no market for command based games in the west.

what I see, is more western slop, trying to appeal to Americans and Europoors, it will last for FF XVII and maybe XVIII, it will kill the franchise.
What I hope is, that they do what they know how to make: japanese game for Japanese market, it would save the franchise

In a good world, we would have FFO2 with John Matheus, but FFO sold too badly for that.

They could do it, but 6 years from now no one would remeber BG3, therefore making FFXVII flop.

there isn't going to be one when FF7R2 and KH4 perform as poorly as XVI did.
I think Rebirth will still do decent. KH4 I do fully expect to 'underperform' as SE loves to say. KH3's story direction was crap.
KH is barely related to FF these days. Disney own the copyright too. Not SE.

I fully believe that Square Enix has no idea and we'll just be getting awkward remakes to bide their time until they figure it out, but sales will have been hurt. So maybe either a decline in focus on FF or hopefully getting all their top people and making something worthwhile.
I don't see anything other than these awful remakes for another 5 years.

Most of BG3 fans don't like it for it's gameplay. But only it's characters, story and sex.
It's why Divinity 2 bombed compared to it, despite having a deeper gameplay.
Rebirth looks good. But hopefully Nomura leaves the company once KH4 and 7R is done so FF can die.
He's the only person who's any good over there.
Nomura is primarily a character designer and one time director for FF that he didn't even seem to want to do. He doesn't run the FF series.
I really hope they do an actual turn based system for the inevitable FFX remake instead of continuing to double down on these gay action systems nobody wants
I actually liked FFXVI. It felt more like a spin off but it still was a good game

It be cool to have a more "all age game", almost all the recent FF have being made for a teenager to adult fanbase.
The industry as a whole lack a lot of games made for everyone these days. Kids need to have good games too.
