I think they're hella fire, senpai. Straight up, they're mad dope. Like, for real, they're on fleek. No cap, they're lit AF. I'm deadass obsessed with them, no lie. They're straight fire emojis, bruh. Like, they're legit goals. They're so sick, they make me stan. I can't even, they're too lit to quit. 100% vibin' with them, no cap.
Fantastic games with some unique ideas - some of which land better than others. Love the inclusion of puzzles but feel the class system was oddly implemented.
I didn't like TLA when I first briefly played it due to the theming of the first town, but now I consider it one of the best examples of a sequel across gaming.
Played the first one and had fun, the battle music is cool. Played until i got stuck at the final boss, couldn't beat it no matter what, i think it's because i didn't understood the class system so i was using the wrong tools for the challenge. Tried to replay it but i can't stand the characters talking all the time, spewing words words words words, and the problem gets worse when they stop talking only to start doing gestures and expressions, it just goes on and on, how annoying.
An interesting thing about Golden Sun is that it somehow managed to break demographic barriers. This resulted in the game being played by a bunch of outsiders who don't even like JRPGs. Those players then proceeded to bitch about it having a lot of dialogue, despite that being a genre staple and a major selling point. It just goes to show that there are a lot of retards out there.
golden sun suffers from bad and boring dialog that goes on for too long. GBA kids literally had nothing else to cling to so they hyped up a game with good gwaficks having never played anything by camelot in the past.
I thought it was really cool how the second game was pretty open world. Felt like a lot of JRPGs had ditched that sort of thing after like 3rd gen.
You're deluded if you believe Golden Sun is normal when it comes to dialog in a JRPG. It is well below average and if anything is a prime example of what not to do. After every other sentence in Golden Sun every fucking member of the party has to go "Huh? Did you say X?" "Woah, X!?" "So, X huh..."
It's fucking tedious. Plenty of other JRPGs have MORE dialog than GS but they present it in a way that's snappier.
There's plenty of great stuff in the game, dungeon puzzles blow most puzzle focused zeldas out of the water and the mind read is a fantastic, creative and exciting way to handle the typical 'find clues from npcs' convention. But the party members repeating every god damned thing four times was fucking grating.

That is however, absolutely par the course for Camelot games. The Shining Force series absolutely did this shit too when it could get away with it.
It's a handheld game dipshit. You're meant to play them while waiting for the bus and whatnot I'm not gonna spend my entire time reading dialogue that's on par with a fantasy kid's novel.
the dialog was pretty good. better than your avg shit jrpg localization for sure
my favorite part was being able to use the mindreading power on any NPC in the game. so cool that they put that much effort into dialogue most would never see
it has some of the best dungeons in the whole genre with great exploration and the class system is very interesting. Problem is that the game is super easy and imbalanced combat-wise, the story isn't all that great even though it's a cool setting, and they never shut the fuck up
I think that the first two Golden Sun games are literally the best games of all games that are called Golden Sun. I haven't played any of those games though. So maybe the DS one is better. But it probably isn't.
They're great jrpgs without massive flaws. Inventive class system, very well structured, excellent dungeons (by any game's standards), great graphics and music. Too much dialogue but that's really not a massive problem (complaints about runtime in a two part jrpg supergame are an oxymoron)
Golden Sun Reloaded is a mod for the first two Golden Sun games, the purpose of which in the words of its creator "...is to provide a harder and not too straightforward game, meant to be enjoyed by players that are quite knowledgeable with the game mechanics and want to try other things than Megiddo & Summon Rush."
There's a changelog in the link which goes through a lot of what actually changes, but in short the mod focuses on improving the combat system of vanilla by rebalancing some parameters; Enemies are significantly buffed, some gameplay design is altered in order to ward off Summon rushing, classes and Psynergy spell are retooled with new additions and changes.
These changes serve to make the relatively easy combat of vanilla into a deeper, more strategic and rewarding system that allow the core mechanics of the game to shine in a way they never did in vanilla.
>Should I play it
Already played GS and want a fresh experience? Absolutely.
Haven't played GS before but still interested? Assuming you have at least some experience with JRPGs you should be fine. Reloaded is frankly a more interesting way for a seasoned newcomer to experience the game than vanilla.
>I am clinically retarded, how do I apply the mod

Perhaps the most over rated JRPGs of all time. Im not one of those freaks that can get through an RPG on gameplay alone, I need a good story, setting and premise and Golden Sun is about as generic as they come. And even then the battle system isn't anything special or new aside from the perspective of the graphics in battle. I'm not kidding I would rather play the Harry Potter GBA game that rips it off wholesale, its unironically better.
They're pretty good. I enjoyed the puzzles. I also really liked the fact that in the second game you play as a party of 4 and are opposing the party of 4 you just played as in the first game. The only other JRPGs I've played that have done something similar is Trails.
They were cool but they were jrpgs that I played in "stone powergaming" mode so that I don't remember anything about the story. All I remember is rushing through the game trying to get all the party members so I could swap their djinns around in the menus, and grind for the ultimate equipment.
>What do you think of the first 2 Golden Sun games vr?
God tier music
God tier animations
God tier dungeons
God tier powers and portraits for every weapon and item
God tier character design
Flexible combat system where you throw magics, djinns and invocations
Capturing djinns was a great idea, at the time pokemon was hot shit
There are puzzles in every time when you usually need a combination of revealing, mind reading, and freeze/move. Sadly GS2 couldn't push psynergy system farther, but they killed it with even better dungeons and the exploration, which was a love letter to gen 3/4 jrpg exploration (DQ3, CT, FF6)
I played GS2 15 years after 1 and I got mixed feelings. On the one hand, the exploration and dungeons was unmatched. On the other hand: >Cannot visit old locations >New continents feel truly empty, they probably run out of time to add more content >They did a poor attempt at reconciling the story of 1 with 2, it feels like anything you bothered with while playing 1 is solved in the background.
These games are exactly the point where the JRPG formula breaks down. They're overly dependent on dialogue scenes to a ridiculous degree. Each text box is delayed and punctuated by superfluous chibi sprite animations. The developers were more in love with their "look, it's like an anime!" tech and long-winded conversations of characters no one cares about droning on that go nowhere than they were with making a concise, coherent game. They didn't want to make a game, they wanted to make an anime, and it fails on both counts.
The combat system is nice, the animations are very cool and the world in 2 is very big when you get the boat. Not Ganker yet but I recommend Glory of Heracles for the DS, the combat and graphics remind me of Golden Sun's a lot.
I think they're hella fire, senpai. Straight up, they're mad dope. Like, for real, they're on fleek. No cap, they're lit AF. I'm deadass obsessed with them, no lie. stop that
Elaborate.
fr fr senpai be spittin rizz
generic jarpig slop. if you like that kind of thing you'll have fun.
>slop
Oh boy! Aren't you giddy about a new buzzword to repeat thousands of times a day
Definitely not generic, there're some Zelda-style puzzles outside of battle and some Pokemon-like customization with the Djinns.
I absolutely love them despite how easy they are.
Fantastic games with some unique ideas - some of which land better than others. Love the inclusion of puzzles but feel the class system was oddly implemented.
I didn't like TLA when I first briefly played it due to the theming of the first town, but now I consider it one of the best examples of a sequel across gaming.
i played these for the first time this year and they were quite enjoyable! Some of the dungeon puzzles really confused me but overall 8.5/10

Anyway, good game overall.

Oh and this is mostly due to richard amtower's terrible translation.

the shining force series didn't have this cock smoker making it worse.

talking
combat is nothing special, overworld stuff is ok.

None of the rock dungeons are good.

this was always camelot's achilles heel
Is that what the dungeons look like? Fucking dropped.

I know these just because Mia is in Spnati
Are they good? Good enough to get a gba or just emulating them?
its for children who havent played shining the holy ark. nice puzzles, the rest is totally unremarkable.
Pretty Godly as far as GBA games go

Let me guess, you are one of those retards who skipped through every dialogue and now bitch about it not having a 'good story'
I loved that shit. FLIPENDO
>The great debate
They're pretty standard Camelot RPGs.
They're pretty good. I enjoyed the puzzles. I also really liked the fact that in the second game you play as a party of 4 and are opposing the party of 4 you just played as in the first game. The only other JRPGs I've played that have done something similar is Trails.
The cannon ending to the series is you dropping it at Air's Rock.

Pretty good, didn't feel like a portable game at the time. Contrarians will probably spit a bunch of buzzwords to justify how "shit" it is.

People who never played Golden Sun shitting on it to cope https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcRqSvtblMs

Some of the most boring RPGs I've ever played. Reading a walkthrough was more fun than playing it.
