this sounds and looks like that OTHER C&C Generals "spiritual successor", Act of Aggression. That one sucked and wasn't really generals at all, this looks no different.

        >OTHER C&C Generals "spiritual successor", Act of Aggression.

Excuse me sir, but, at which point in time and history Act of Aggression, a remake and a reboot of Act of War from the same devs, since both Act of War and Act of Aggression were developed by Eugen Systems, became a "spiritual successor" to C&C Generals? Since Act of War was never promoted or positioned as such, the game only happened to come out some time after C&C Generals 2 got canceled for being absolute garbage after the overwhelmingly negative reviews from the people who got into closed alpha-test for buying the C&C Ultimate Collection.

The "Real" issue of Act of Aggression is it come at time nobody ask for it and Eugen System had to make up for losse with Wargame (and now their mainstay) DLC policy

I was referring to the fact that if you ask an average RTS player these days, what he thinks of AoA, he will say that the game was an absolute garbage because it has way too many resource types (3), and because it was promised as spiritual successor to C&C Generals but looks nothing like it (was never promised to be a spiritual successor to anything and is quite literally a reboot of the previous game Eugene made).

The first take is related to the gradual degradation of RTS community over the past two decades, while the second is related to the fact that morons didn't listened, and still don't want to listen to what alpha-testers said about quality of the Generals 2, so in their autism induced rage about about the cancelation of Generals 2. The first take is related to the gradual degradation of RTS community over the past two decades, while the second is related to the fact that morons didn't listened, and still don't want to listen to what alpha-testers said about quality of the Generals 2, so in their autism induced rage about the cancelation of Generals 2, they started projecting Generals onto another upcoming RTS games, deluding themselves into thinking that AoA is a spiritual successor

Ooooo looks kinda fun! Looks a bit like a modern generals.

DON'T FRICKING TOY WITH ME!!! c**t!!!

Act of Aggression was supposed to be that. AND IT FRICKING SUCKED. I swear to god this better not suck.

No homosexual the real issue was the gameplay was fricking gay and it had THREE AUTISTIC RESOURCES TO MANAGE. Generals was the everyman's C&C, the one your dumb normie friend could maybe play. AUTISM WAS NOT A SYSTEM REQUIREMENT.

What happened berry boy? The whole THREE TYPES OF RESOURCES were way too hard to manage for ya? Better go back to Radmin and play some more of that sweet sweet ShockWave Chaos with arabs then, instead of sperging on internet about the RTS that actually has some sort of balance and isn't 20 years outdated.

It can be both you know anon. Act of war was a lot like generals.

Act of War can be described as more of "what if Generals were a finished product" or "what if Westwood made it", it does plays similar to Generals, but the more you look at it, the more differences you see. With POW system vastly different from the one that was planned for Generals, jets being more of support powers, anti-spuerweapon defense systems. Expanded garrison system and urban combat, live action cutscenes, different construction systems for factions, story that is delivered to the player way better than in Generals and story itself is better overall.

Where original C&C games such as Tiberian Dawn, Red Alert 1 and Generals were inspired by real life events such as Gulf War and Yugoslavian Wars for Tiberian Dawn, Cold War for Red Alert and War on Terror for Generals. Sequels to these games always expanded original themes introduced in games, Tiberian Sun was about the war in a apocalyptic world caused by Tiberium, conflict of views and ideologies in a world that is going to end unless one of the sides mages to reach its goals. Red Alert 2 was about third world war in a world where second world war was with Allied powers against USSR, a world that was de-facto controlled by United States. Zero Hour was about GLA rising to power again and becoming stronger than ever, defeating United States as world hegemon, defeating their fleets, using their satellite weapons against them and penetrating into American land, and China, even though it is a real life event of China growing to be a world power after great leap forward ended, some people missed that China in Generals entered the world stage as liberalized social-democracy, Chinese troops freely enter Taiwan in the second mission of the game, the time of education camps was long over, and Zero Hour expands on that with China taking the place of United States, creating its own version of NATO with European countries after defeating GLA.

Know this berry boy, you will never be a real woman, you will never be white and Generals will never be a proper RTS and a C&C game.

Im done playing singleplayer rts, they all feel super junk after sc2, i dont even like sc2 anymore but it has such a fluid and smooth gameplay its terrible to go back to older titles often shilled here like the old c&c games.

I got to play the MP alpha/beta or whatever it was, I wasn't too impressed, but I am not a huge fan of MP or Generals' gameplay to begin with. They dilluted the Generals formela by adding capzones for resources back when I tried it.

Act of War on the other hand is based more on the classical b-movies and Bondiana, where C&C was only playing around those cheese aesthetics, C&C was still about the global war and conflict of views and interests, Act of War on the other hand feels like a sequel to The President's Man, but instead of killing kajillions of bad guys by himself, main character has a team of SEAL's or a tank column with him, and sometimes troopers in experimental power armor.

Act of Aggression takes only original parts from Act of War's gameplay, expands them, and tries to be a hybrid between, well, a wargame and more classical RTS, introducing such things as faster movement of the units when they are on the roads and other stuff. Heavily tones down the action movie aesthetics and high-tech look of the experimental technologies and weapons that were in Act of War, makes them look more in line with what modern day sci-fi media and actual scientists think how, lets say an anti-missile laser or exoskeleton would look like in recent future when they actually may become a thing, well how they envisioned it in 2014. Also no live action cutscenes, only talking jpeg's and slideshows with occasional pre-rendered in-game video.

Played one of the alpha/beta events a few months ago. Surprisingly polished and playable. Passable visuals, voice acting and aesthetic. AI and pathfinding surprisingly weren't dogshit and were ok. Resource mechanic was OK, air units only being air strikes is fine with me. Needed more depth in the tech tree and upgrades. Fairly satisfying to just kinda frick around against the AI and destroy tanks.

One thing I found neat: unit voice lines get a radio effect if they're off-screen when you command them. If you move the camera to/away from them while the audio plays the radio effect will stop/start midway.
