The internet as a whole is already dying, doesn't help that this board is about an unpopular genre and is also plagued by codex immigrants on top of twitter and reddit subhumans.

Nobody wants to put up with the concentrated turbo autism of both the angsty and slighted WRPG fans as well as the bombastically unhinged JRPG fans.

"WRPGs" and "JRPGs" are dumb israelite spooks to divide and weaken the RPG genre. If you believe in those, you're a Black person.

It made sense once when western RPGs drew from tabletop and Japanese RPG had conventions that made exclusive to Japan. Nowadays it really doesn't mean anything when you can fire up RPG Maker and make a JRPG despite living in Wisconsin. Global gaming industry kinda did away with regional restrictions, except for publishers looking to nickel and dime audiences.

        JRPGs drew from tabletop too
Dragon Quest drew from D&D via Wizardry, and Final Fantasy 1 was just a D&D game

They drew from derivates, but missed the implied point those games had. It was assumed "yeah, we want to have story and choices, but restrictions prevent us from that so have some in the manual" with WRPG. JRPGs, at the time called Light RPGs, made no such distinctions.

“Implied point” was the roleplaying, which could not have been implemented in wizardry, so japs thought that’s what “dangensu and duragonsu” was. That’s why jrpgs don’t have roleplaying to this day

It's funny because when you look at them JRPGs almost overcorrected that absence of story.

I am a big fan of over-the-top art style in general; western has plenty of this with barbarians, 40k, Warcraft, Diablo, etc

That being said, the art style of JRPGs doesn't bother me, the fact that most JRPGs and anime is centered around teenagers is what I can't stand most. Western media seems to scale the range a lot better

So, for OPS pic, guy on left would be a 16 or 17 year old fighting for his love while guy on the right is 30-50 trying to get revenge for the death of his son
