I will never understand the appeal of these fricking chink handhelds, considering my 2003 eMachines desktop that cost 300USD (with monitor speakers keyboard and mouse) could play these games just as well if not better
Portability isn't a value add anymore when a mobile phone + a controller grip offers a higher quality experience
Same goes for the Steam Deck, the absolute ridiculousness of paying for a device to play the games you've already played but on a chonk ass 720p handheld when there are remote play alternatives is BAFFLING to me.
this thing is pretty good for older stuff, but kinda shits the bed with anything PSX or higher.
Performance is inconsistent, and the shoulder buttons are very finicky, like, you can single press them fine but holding them doesn't register well most of the time unless you hold them down pretty hard, I can't play anything that requires reliable shoulder button holding
These thingies are best for anything up to 2D PSX anyways. For 3D games a much higher resolution along with hacks to make games look nicer is preferable.
Original hardware with flashcarts/ODEs, or jailbroken and using CD-Rs, on a CRT with composite or S-Video. But handheld, using my Steam Deck or phone with USB controller.
Samsung Tab S8 plus with a controller either a dualsense or ps5. I have a vita and 3ds which did most before but moveds everything non vita to the tablet.
the trash can

You're the kind of moron that plays Game Boy games on a big ass screen.
kys moron
>when a mobile phone + a controller grip offers a higher quality experience
it doesn't
The rg351MP.
This is pretty good, I want to try the RG353p though, it seems more comfortable
This thing absolutely fricks
I play retro games so much more often since getting it.
How do the buttons hold up? I had an older model a few years ago and the A button turned to mush
Very solid and responsive.

visiting Ganker is like watching ads with no actual content spaced between
I only play games on their original intended hardware.
comfy
My Rp2+
A computer.
The least comfy way to retro game. Especially for old handheld systems.

>Steam Deck
Using a Steam Deck to play Gameboy games is crazy.
My phone
Samsung Tab S8 plus with a controller either a dualsense or ps5. I have a vita and 3ds which did most before but moveds everything non vita to the tablet.
3ds xl would be great but that screen is so ugly, and if playing with pixel perfect every game is super small.
GPD XD+. After all these years, it's still a wonderful beast
Mostly my Steam Deck, but having a really good time lately using a hacked Wii for GCN/N64
I use the original hardware. Emulation is for nerds.
My PC, some emulators and game rips, a controller, my oled TV with BFI active and some CRT shaders.
My miyoo mini
same
running MiniUI though
I hear screen quality on this thing is very good. Looks good from your pic.
It is absolutely crazy for the price point. I found myself liking it as much as some expensive OLED panels.
On real OEM hardware like a normal human
my phone and a xbone controller
My laptop or phone.
