If you can't speak my language natively, you'll unfortunately sound moronic. It's not as bad as being racist towards you or anything, but you will always be at the bottom of the totem pole. We don't care how accomplished or smart you are, how charismatic you are in your mother tongue. You'll never be witty, authoritative, or funny in any way to the average Anglo. You'll get pity laughs and half-hearted engagement at best.

this rarely ever happens in normal settings, only when I'm arguing with someone but i have to butch something really badly, and even then it is extremely rare. i've had other ESLs attack me for my English countless more times.
