yes, they used some weird modified essentials engine that performed even worse than default essentials and had memory leaks so it got laggier the longer you left it on
the newest version of essentials isn't laggy at all though
had potential to begin with but it's a complete and utter mess. runs like shit, pozzed garbage, and the development seemed like a fricking nightmare considering people constantly kept quitting the team every few weeks or so, i get the feeling the lead devs must've been horrible to work with or something because the amount of "HELP NEEDED!!" posts they kept putting out for the same positions was insane.
