If you think discussion about the Dead Space remake is bad, just wait until the Dead Space 2 remake. The first game has some issues and a lot of people have never played it due to being too young or too moronic to fix the issues on PC, but Dead Space 2 is an extremely well-crafted and beloved game, meaning Motive's failings as a development team will be even more noticeable. The anger when they inevitably frick up again will be volcanic.

I played DS1 more than any of the other games and didn't notice any big issues with the remake. If anything lots of small grievances I had got fixed like the turret section being replaced with something better. Not to mention how the last third of the remake is basically new levels, one having you go into the crashed military ship and finding a new enemy type there.

awesome and still awesome. in retrospect, the shorter length gave it more leverage over other TP shooters since it comes off as less bloated compared to the contemporary games as of now.

You either have bad memory or youre lying because there are tons of issues in the remake.

Not really. Seems more like you're in denial wishing desperately that the remake was inferior.

Lol no, Dead Space 2 fans are the ones that coomed over Gunner Wright and Tanya Clarke being used for both the faces and voices of Isaac and Nicole for the remake. They're the ones currently praising it. They have no standards and would eat up a remake of 2.

lol no, most of those comments said "they fricked up the face scans, they didn't need to make Nicole a hag"

definitely, the remake is decent from what I've seen, minus the pozz'd shit. But since DS2 is near perfect for what it is, they will frick everything up on purpose.

Great game, best in the series. Had a fun unlock for 100%. One of the better 3rd person shooters.

Dead Space 2 is a perfect sequel in that it was an evolution of tone from the first game.
It's not as scary, but it shouldn't be as scary since the scariness of the first one wore off during the first one, and that's the loudest complaint DS1 supremacists will usually make. Isaac is now familiar with his enemy, so he takes stronger control of the situation in DS2.
The gameplay is more fun. The setpieces are more fun. The seamless presentation of story and level progression is more fun. The removal of the map and backtracking was a good decision. Talking Isaac was an improvement over silent yes-man Isaac. Frick you and frick your Marker.

10/10 sequel to a 10/10 2008 video game. It's a shame that they're trying to frick it up even harder now.

Of the myriad arguments that I could give for the remake being inferior, the one that currently bothers me the most is Hammond's death change. Hammond was a great character in DS1, and so far I've only seen him emasculated and bastardized in the remake. There's no excuse for what they did to him, and if they did that to him I shudder to think of everything else they've done.

          >and so far I've only seen him emasculated
What? Like everyone he also suffered delusions from the marker and that's why he dies. It literally happens to everyone in the cast. What does it have to to with being emasculated or bastardized?

Except that's not what happened in the original. In the original he suffered delusions the same as Isaac and dealt with them the same as Isaac. And that's ignoring how much Kendra was fricking with him by blocking his transmitter the entire game They didn't defeat him. The thing that killed him in the original was a fricking Brute, which was basically a living tank that cornered and overpowered him. Not a single slasher. This is a big difference.

This. And he went from being kind of a hardass to softening up a bit later in the game and got killed in a based way.

The Slasher didn't kill him though you moron. He smashed him into the energy core of the ship making it and the aliens inside go all down through an explosion. Him dying to the brute made him look like a wimp way more. He shits his pants before his death so hard and then gets brutally offed to make the player go "oh this necro sure must be tough" even though it's literally just a recolored brute with more hp, dying basically for nothing neither tying into the story's themes or what actually is going on in plot.
              >and dealt with them the same as Isaac
So not at all and he becomes a tool to the Marker? Are you moronic or do you pretend like Isaac was actually a character in the og?

                >The Slasher didn't kill him though you moron.
It gave him a fatal wound that he wasn't going to recover from. If he were going to recover from it, the token self-sacrifice wouldn't have made any sense, since he could have killed the slasher with a gun and then shot the core with, you guessed it, that same gun.

I wasn't going to outright call you a brainlet but if you think Isaac has no character just because he's silent, then "brainlet" is the accurate descriptive term for you. You seem unable to extrapolate meaning when it gets mingled with "video game-yness."
I'm due for a replay of DS1 so I'll likely pay more attention to it this time, but Isaac has an extensive journal in 1 that explains his inner thoughts throughout the journey. Even without that, he and Hammond were dealing with hallucinations and the horror of reality the whole way, and it never broke either of them. Hammond originally didn't have to throw his life away in a meaningless gesture, it was ended in a warrior's defeat.

Okay but vastly inferior to the first game.
    >dude let's make Isaac talk and ruin his character, he should shout some swear word at every jump scare 😀
    >dude let's make him fly around space like some capeshit character, it's gonna be so friggin epic!
Terrible direction to take the series in.

I think it was a good sequel. I didn't care so much for the hyper focus on action over horror, but there were some good horror moments (like pic related). However there were also moments that felt like I wasn't playing Dead Space anymore and instead got put into something like Gears of War. I prefer 1 over 2, even though I think 2's gameplay is better.

I think it's the best Dead Space.

Dead Space 1 gets dull fast, the game doesn't really escalate that much and you spend a lot of time just walking around leg-arming in claustrophobic ship hallways without shakeups.

Dead Space 2 is more honest about being action horror. Sometimes the setpieces feel a little gratuitous, but IMO it has way better pacing and does a good job at providing memorable environments and combat encounters.

Dead Space 3 is just bad and the ship graveyard doesn't make up for it.

a good sequel, and my personal favorite, one of the few games that got the horror/action well balanced and well executed
