With the exclusion of waifu romancing, Blacksouls 2 improves everything from the first game. The bosses are better, the combat is more dynamic, the OST is banger, the lore is richer.
Am I forgetting something?

nothin really, black souls 2 is indisputably better
more leaf
> it’s another Ganker pretends a made up game is real thread
did the music turn off for you anon?
>inb4 somebody posts the fake pastebin
thanks for all the dolphin porn I guess
1 is better because I can actually play it. Still can't figure out how to get 2.
Check the monster girl game thread on /d/, they should have it there
I beat this game yesterday, I touched the mist with Leaf
You haven't finished yet.
I beat all the princesses what else is there to do?
reload your save and touch the mist with some other character (with leaf's ring in your inventory)
reload your save and touch the mist alone
go to new game + and recruit all the covenants, then beat the game again and touch the mist alone
reload your save with all covenants and check out the library in wonderland, then fill out the library
do leaf's ending again at this point
find baphomet in the swamp and do her errands
okay I just beat the black demon, trying to find friends that arent dorothy, leaf and jeane
It sounds like you're far into the game so a few of those covenants would have died already and can only be saved on ng+.
yeah I already beat the princesses, the first was by accident saying I had the flower before getting it right after. I have two sin and I don't know how I got them, one might have been from killing that sinner guy wanting the medicine
There's a NG+ thing in the screen above the main hub
Elizabeth, the match girl, and Goose are the party members you can most easily get cucked out of
Once you get Jeanne you can get another companion from the skeleton maze
There's a party member in blighttown if you go there with 5 sin
No idea how you managed to miss the maid
I couldn't find Elizabeth after she ran out of the shop but Goose is at her stall
Found out you can stack dusk rings and I'm looking forward to nuking the next boss I find
You can wipe all sins to 0 by paying souls to a NPC, he should be north of the hub area.
Tell me anon
How much of the game did you play before you realized there were four ring slots?
When I found my first ring and looked at the equip screen
You're a much smarter man than I then
>What does blacksouls 1 do better than its sequel?
waifu romancing
more comfy hub area
more choices and feeling of agency in saving the waifus (different ways to save all of them in 1, only need to kill/imprison one character in 2)
yes I know one of the endings reveal it's all meaningless but 2 has that type of ending too
plot is more straightforward than 2 (not saying it's overall better plot than 2 just that being straightforward has its own charm)
My wife Bill is so beautiful, i want to hug her and never let her go!
>My wife BIll is so be-ACK.
>It's another "tourists obsess over a soulless RPG maker shitfest because COOM!" episode
I've just finished Black Souls 2. What's a RPG maker game with real SOUL?
The porn is the worst part of the games, I say this completely sincerely.
>Implying anyone plays Black Souls primarily for the coom.
lol
lmao
You clearly have no idea what Black Souls even is.
i respect your opinion but what i love about the first is that barely anything is missable and you dont have to play it 10 times to get a picture of the whole thing and your first playthrough is not almost guaranteed to be ruined.
The second game is cool for what it is but it sometimes just gets completely out of control and too vague with what's it's trying to say. Might be a translation thing though.
The combat is too easily broken. Black goat ring for example is just absurd. Balance is a joke aswell. Especially the depth hammer. +200% attack, 80% stun and a buff that gives a bonus action.
Also weapon switching is broken.
Also soulfarming makes a good balance nearly impossible.
The music of BS2 really grew on me. But it's probably stockholm syn because I spent so much time in chaos dungeon.
I think it nails better the "world is going to hell" vibe.
Isn't the whole point of the second game that it's kind of pretending the world hasn't already completely gone to hell?
The first game felt like a medieval world with magic and going to shit. You had a village area, a town area, and a castle area. It gave the initial impression that actual people lived there before the fog showed up.
Second game was surreal fantasy from the start. The starting area was entirely covered in blood, had rabbits spazzing all over the place, all to an upbeat background music. When you actually got to the town area after that, the npc were generally half animals.
This is only true for the Crash Chamber and I guess Pond of Bloody Tears. Half animal NPCs aren't an issue since the idea of this being a fairytale/mother goose world is a key theme.
My issue with world design is that while individually, places like Lutwidge, Bilingsgate, Ox Ward, etc... feel reasonably organic, their connections are sometimes abrupt and disjointed. Slaughterhouse is the best example since while the idea of a Texas Chainsaw Massacre style fricked up 'livestock' slaughtering factory is fine for a fantasy game and the Kidnapper bit evens works really well (and is an obvious reference to the Gaol in Bloodborne) but the links to Bilingsgate and Carrol River don't make much sense at all.
I think Liddell Cemetary is the only connecting route that feels organic. Most other connections (duchess -> spore forest -> pond for example) just feel like video game areas stacked next to one another.
🙁
You frickin blew it son
I haven't played in a long time remind me what happened here?
Piper kills Elma if you didn't kill him
I never let that happen cause I read a guide to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Is there a message left behind or does he say anything to make you know it was her?
yeah you can ask him or he tells you outright i forget
I just don't get WHY he did it, though.
He was just clearly off his rails. The only thing that confuses me was why killing him was a sin.
whoooops
And nothing of value was lost.
The police took my iPad during a random visit because the black souls pics on it were sus. Got it back and it was fine! Not going to jail today!
Truly we live in a hellworld when shitty drawn pictures are such a big problem in society the police have to investigate you as if you were a criminal on the level of a murderer
Make sure you are not bugged Anon, these people want their promotions
backup data, flash bios, reinstall windows now.
I’m not allowed to tamper with any monitoring software or I’ll break my SHPO and go to jail
Things BS1 did better than BS2
>More character agency/purpose
Important to note this is character agency (Grimm) not player Agency (you). BS2 does a pretty poor job of providing motivation for the protagonist to go around and do whatever it is they are doing. Yes you are going to Alice but unless the player is already aware of what a complete fricking schizo Grimm is it doesn't feel like it's justified. In BS1 you are trying to save the world (and also Jeanne's bit early on may serve as a motivation for rescue/revenge) and there's a pretty well defined 'go frick [up] these four princesses who are ruining the world. The four nightmares in BS2 are a lot harder to vilify because we don't see how bad things are and/or how responsible for things being bad they are.
>Heroines feel more developed/lifelike
Having your party members wander in, out, and around Firelink wasn't a huge deal but it made a big difference in making the characters feel more like real characters. Your main cast of love interests in BS2 are covenants that are always stationary in the same place and they feel much more like gameplay contrivances than actual characters. Having to actually find and recruit your party members also makes it feel more like they exist and have agency even when you aren't on screen.
>
Related to the last point, questlines feel more like actual 'quests' in that more characters move around and progress through the world alongside you. In BS2 you only really have Red and Black Rabbit and Jubjub doing anything of value off-screen.
>Magic
Magic was viable (and outright busted) in BS1. It's mostly worthless in BS2 outside of some corner cases. Even most buffs are pointless once you get a large stock of buff items.
BS2 is obviously a better game but BS1 does a few things better.
>What does blacksouls 1 do better than its sequel?
A story that one man can discover and follow without outside help
I was able to get most of it figured out without looking shit up
The actual way to trigger the true ending is bullshit though, I even figured out what the snowman was talking about but didn't know I couldn't do it until I'd followed the rest of the steps and figured I must have been wrong
Yeah, the only clues to "rejecting" Alice was Jabberwock's riddle and snowmen, no way to get it without external help unless you were REALLY autistic
It has more cohesion and I liked the turn based combat instead of the clock bullshit, it feels like a whole game rather than disparate elements all stitched together for no reason, even if it's lacking in depth and is way too easy.
Where can I find the ugly duckling and the tortoise and hare?
Lighter atmosphere with a better cycle of exploration and watching your adopted daughters bathe at the lake
Combat unafraid to splatter you across the floor if you went to a new area unprepared but also holding your hand by making your starting moves actually fricking work
Clear if unbalanced approach to builds instead of late game bosses demanding 5k stats through items or grinding like a chump and also each one will no sell 3/4ths of the weapon skills in the game so you better gather and use all of them but which ones work will change from room to room
Coherent story with an ending that you don't have to pick through the author's twitter ramblings, lewis carroll's biographies, and the lovecraft wiki to speculate about.
okay fill me in on this meme, show me your best stuff.
How do you play this game?
f95 for me
