People with cochlear implants are neither legally nor medically deaf and in the "deaf community" if you have one you are basically seen as a traitor lol
The only legitimate sounding reference to this was in the film Sound of Metal which was about a guy rapidly going deaf, and it was his mentor from a school for deaf children who told him he couldn't come back there if he got cochlear implants which he was selling all his possessions for, because the children there need to not feel that they are broken and missing something, because they're deaf for life and they need to be ok with that. That makes sense enough to me. Also that he was trying to teach the protagonist to accept his situation and not chase pipedreams of curing it miraculously and going back to how things were, his life had changed but it hadn't ended.
But it's not about the mere existence of implants, just parading them around people who will never be able to hear. Of course, depending on your actual hearing ability they may not be much help, you might only get a tiny fuzzy approximation of sound. Some people who have a low percentage of hearing can benefit hugely from them obviously.
But you're being delusional if you want to do some kind of "deaf pride" thing, it IS a loss of an essential sense, your goal should be to be ok with it. No one likes being deaf. It would be like liking having your arms and legs cut off. Of course it sucks.
nta but I took sign language in high school and part of the schooling was learning about deaf culture to some extent. He's right. Getting an implant is a controversial topic among deaf people.
Doesn't change that anon's point that current deaf culture is purely crab-in-the-bucket mentality. Instead of being happy for and encouraging anyone in their group who can benefit from implants to raise themselves back to any kind of standard of sensory experience, they would rather everyone drown in the bucket of misery with them. Sour grapes if you will. It's a greater phenomenon across the globe but it's particularly egregious and heinous when people would rather halt and fly in the face of medical advancements that can actually enhance life, just so they can wallow in a perpetual pity party (at the expense of their quality of life/standard of living). Frick those homosexuals keeping their brethren down.
He didn't. There exist parents that even hope their kids will be deaf just because they think they are better people for being deaf. If given the chance and can afford to fix their child's hearing, they'll refuse.
It's like a cope for them that because they can't hear, they don't think anyone else should be able to. They resent it.

It's true which is insanely moronic.

im mad jelly of deaf people. i wish i could just never hear anything anyone said ever again
I mean it's fine for what it is. A cute game for deaf people. Sure it's about as "Oscar baity" as you can get, but I mean, is Ganker really going to-
Oh who the frick am I kidding anymore of course Ganker is going to complain about the game where you play as a deaf girl and/or want to frick her. "Ganker isn't one person" my fat ass.
My complaint is it's not really particularly for deaf people when it revolves around music they can't hear. If they were brave they would make the game silent.
once you know music though you don't need to hear it anymore, you can just read it
I took a piano class and we were on keyboards with headphones plugged in since it was a group, and the teacher wouldn't even put on the headphones during the tests, he'd just watch our hands and know if we were doing it right
He lost hearing over the course of his life, mostly from a severe illness he had in middle age. He could still compose after it was more or less gone completely.
He lost his hearing, of course it was a letdown to find out he was going to lose it (it was a degenerative process so it was gradual) and he seemed to have considered suicide, but he kept composing, remember he's a textbook romantic artist, passion and strong emotional impressions are the priority. You have stuff like his third symphony, the Eroica. Theres a cool movie that dramatize the first time the 3rd was played, very good, you can find it on youtube.
she could feel the vibrations of your bellend mate, read the comments on that youtube vid linked here, apparently Beethoven used that to make his music after he went deaf.
>even worse if youre the type to groan and make breathy sounds when you rub one out
>music instructor is a black guy
called it before i even watched the trailer, god damn these israeliteoids are predictable.
anyway would lick her pussy and adore every weird deaf girl sound she makes in the heat of pleasure
A game for the yuppie parents of crippled kids to buy to feel better about themselves as they engage in child abuse via exploiting the condition of their kid to boost their social profile and narcissism.
I had a deaf principal. She was a c**t who had her bald fat assistant follow her everywhere and sign her stuff frantically, ratting kids out and shit. Frick the deaf.
>signing and proud
Do deaf people get shit on for using sign language or something, or is Twitter just saying they do? pretty sure no deaf person WANTS to be deaf.
Deaf culture can and does take it too far. It's one thing to find acceptance in your disability and not feel as though you are lesser than others for it, but some of them do take it as a matter of pride that they are deaf. They find the idea that anyone could want to stop being deaf as a personal insult to them just because they either can't afford it or they're hearing is beyond repair. You mostly see it in people who have been born deaf or lost their hearing so early that they barely remember what sounds is truly like. There are some who do take the step and get implants and some of them do regret it and want them removed because finally being able to hear is just too jarring and disruptive to them, and that's fair, but there are also those who are too stubborn to ever allow anyone to imply there was something wrong to begin with.
Say, whats the deal with the deaf interpreters seen on some government announcements?
Why dont they save a buck and just subtitle it?
You cant possibly convince me more deaf people read sign language over their native written language.
>game for deaf people
>music is unbearably bad for people that can hear
Genius.
why is a deaf girl playing music?
she's cute and all but i don't get the story
People with cochlear implants are neither legally nor medically deaf and in the "deaf community" if you have one you are basically seen as a traitor lol
You made that up.
I've already heard that the last part is true, don't know about the others. They will say implants destroy deaf culture and community.
The only legitimate sounding reference to this was in the film Sound of Metal which was about a guy rapidly going deaf, and it was his mentor from a school for deaf children who told him he couldn't come back there if he got cochlear implants which he was selling all his possessions for, because the children there need to not feel that they are broken and missing something, because they're deaf for life and they need to be ok with that. so if you have a flat tire do you just let it ride?
nta but I took sign language in high school and part of the schooling was learning about deaf culture to some extent. He's right. Getting an implant is a controversial topic among deaf people.
Holy frick they're stupid.
Nah bruh, you know how liberals are. They don't want to be fixed, they just want to drown in fat troony misery.
Deaf culture predates the current culture war by a few decades, my main man.
Doesn't change that anon's point that current deaf culture is purely crab-in-the-bucket mentality. >all deaf people are now "liberals"
?????????????????????
It's true which is insanely moronic.

This game is going to flop so hard. Frick you, pandering homosexuals!
the cool thing about being deaf is you can read so you don't actually need to animate someone signing in a game to understand
The funny part is that American and British Sign Language are different and not mutually intelligible

Was beethoven born deaf or did he become deaf

He became deaf as a prank to prove how good he was at music.
once you know music though you don't need to hear it anymore, you can just read it
I took a piano class and we were on keyboards with headphones plugged in since it was a group, and the teacher wouldn't even put on the headphones during the tests, he'd just watch our hands and know if we were doing it right
Speaking from experience?
>recalls experience that he had
>are you speaking from experience?
Yeah...but it still sucks dick for a person whose life revolved around music.
He lost hearing over the course of his life, mostly from a severe illness he had in middle age. He could still compose after it was more or less gone completely.

A walking sim for people who want to pretend to play video "games"
I thought she was just mute or something
>Start game
>"We recommend muting the game for a true immersive experience"
It's perfect
Sad to see the devs go from the mostly decent King's Quest reboot to this
Onirism 2 is looking good.

She's probably deaf because her black dead punctured them in the womb.
I had a deaf principal. She was a c**t who had her bald fat assistant follow her everywhere and sign her stuff frantically, ratting kids out and shit. Frick the deaf.

There's a difference between being ok with deafness and being "proud", the latter is inherently absurd. Find another way to fluff your self-esteem.
what even is this
I Have No Ears and Must Hear
The Quiet Man is a more entertaining game about being deaf(mainly because it's so bad it's funny)
>music game for deaf people
One of this most idiotic things I have ever seen.
Say, whats the deal with the deaf interpreters seen on some government announcements?
Why dont they save a buck and just subtitle it?
You cant possibly convince me more deaf people read sign language over their native written language.
