Nothing he just rehashes the same game over and over and AAA games are so fricking terrible that people think they are masterpieces solely due to how low their standards are and because they disregard anything indie as "trash" unless game journalists shower it with 10/10s
This, nobody cared about king's field or any of his other games because they were made when gaming was actually good. And the souls games are literally just 3rd person King's field
I personally like that the devs dont give a frick if you miss out on content >Oh you missed this npc in a specific spot during a brief window between 2 boss? >lmao guess you miss out on the good end to their story and items >oh and that random ass elevator in the middle of the forest? yeah goes to an entirely optional area
FRICK western devs who feel the need to shove every fricking NPC and their life problems in your face in the most unavoidable way.
Also this, it does wonders to make a world feel immersive and worth exploring when it doesn't shove everything directly in your face in fear that you'll miss it
Agree, they are only hard because they are fricking terrible. In the same way Ninja Gaiden on the NES is hard because of all of the broken mechanics and enemy bullshit in it. Ninja Gaiden Black or Hagane are hard but fair
He's just the jap Todd Howard. He releases a decent framework that people have to fine tune with mods, and unfinished narratives that youtubers have to complete
The messaging system and how the single player and multiplayer experience blends into each other. Even if he's tried time and time again to protect the lambs from their own demise.
If Americans wanted to talk Tolkien's works and have them dumbed down and translated into pidgin, he would most likely say no. He got annoyed at mere localizations of his works when they were published in non-english speaking countries.
Same concept.
Miyazaki made a game and he feels the challenge is part of the experience. If you're not up to the challenge, just go into one of the billions of things that cater to you instead of trying to force a change on someone else's work.
I'm always happy to play a game that just lets me play the fricking game. FROM's ARPGs aren't exceedingly deep or anything but they don't include shit like NPCs screaming puzzle solutions at me or "walk down a corridor while talking to an NPC" sections, and that alone makes them worth playing for me.
It's simple
he just want to play a video game.
It didn't, NPC people pretend to resonate because they want to fit in with the non-NPCs who are autistic enough to yell at npcs nonstop
Thats a comfy boy
that's just wonderful
thanks anon

it's fun
Also this, it does wonders to make a world feel immersive and worth exploring when it doesn't shove everything directly in your face in fear that you'll miss it
It doesn't. Games are clunky unfair shit but people pretend it's the greatest thing ever to fit in.
Any games that do the same without the "Souls" tag are deemed "janky" and bad, yet the Souls-like get a pass.

It allowed e-celeb grifters to feel important by making up bullshit that never happened.
bringing 8 bit masochism to modern games.
The average soulsgay couldn’t even beat Ocarina of Time.
You would've been right if you wrote "A Link to the Past" instead.
Nintendo themselves said oot is too hard for gamers today
invasions.
npc's had to create their own safe space mod. pathetic.

Big Fricking Sword
"I want to make fun games that have lots of stuff that looks cool"
Probably something like that.
