Every time I ever get interested in hearing about what people play it's fricking shit. I have a friend that bought an extremely good and pricey pre-built PC (at the time) and uses it near-exclusively to play CS:GO.
The most popular game to come out of the country is PC Building Simulator. The largest gaming company there is either an Ubisoft division or a play-tester company.
that's kind of misleading since most of those homes are a) vacant b) only inhabited by old ass grandmas. you won't find someone younger than 50 not having a toilet. and if they worked in the west at one point they usually have better houses than people in western europe because building costs are extremely cheap.

If you were to have a 1000$ salary (minimum wage is 600$) it would take years of serious frugality to save up for an apartment or house. 2000-2500$ salary already puts you in the country's equivalent of an upper class.

Essential every apartment bloc would set up its own decentralized LAN. Then when fiber optic came along they just merged all of these, so you had high speed, low cost fiber connecting literally the whole country from very early on. This was back in the early 2000s. Most western countries don't have fiber everywhere even today. Basically Romania invested in its network infrastructure early and it paid off.
The internet is about the only good thing about Romania.

I can only speak based on anecdotal evidence, but most romanian foreign nationals I've met here refuse to integrate, only hang out with other romanians, and generally look down on the local culture and its people. This is less of an issue amongst people with higher education however.
