It didn’t feel retro to me on the Christmas I received it. Running through the light shining through the hallway windows while the orchestra played the castle theme sounded like the most advanced and immersive game experience that 11 year old me had ever had up to that point. Even Oculus hasn’t made me feel like I was there as much as that game did. but I had imagination back then. and I didn’t even know what income taxes or cancer were.
The atmosphere was insane. The sound of the rain muffled by the roof, then you walk outside and it's dark and there's flashes of lightning, the forboding orchestral music chugging away etc.
There was nothing "retro" about it at the time, it was cutting edge as frick.
it felt like such shit to go back to, why does the enemy damage spike so fricking hard once you get to the dark world? It's such a pain in the ass getting to the dungeons that you're better off running past instead of fighting the enemies. It's not like there's an exp system
imagine being filtered by a children's game. God that's embarrassing.
I play Ys which is way harder than Zelda is. Cry yourself to sleep about it. Only homosexual closet homosexuals are obsessed with this franchise and it's gay twink protagonist. Go to therapy.
pathetic
What's pathetic is how overrated your shit franchise is Black person
>why does the enemy damage spike so fricking hard once you get to the dark world?
Because the game gives you hearts every dungeon so you have literally double health by the time you enter the dark world ASSUMING you didnt find enough heart pieces. Early heart pieces are literally "jump down this well" or "bomb this wall" so its common to enter the dark world with 7-8 hearts instead of the base 6.
Also there's this super abstract concept called a difficulty curve that you may not have heard of if you got a lobotomy when you were a child.
>why does the enemy damage spike so fricking hard once you get to the dark world?
To give you the feeling of being in a dreadful, malicious, unknown world. Don't you zoomer homosexuals want more "immersion" and "cinematics" in games?
If you suck that bad, this game gives a very meaningful solution to that. Explore and get heart pieces, bottles for potions/fairies and other upgrades. It's perfect.
I wonder if there is literally anyone literally out there who literally thought Link was literally a girl named Zelda who had to rescue a princess named Zelda
>those early screenshots of ALttP
I kind of wish they had kept the wider sword swing arc but I guess they thought it would make the swings too slow or just have too much reach.
That old magic meter design also looks neat and it's odd they just made it a boring rectangle in the final version.
if you like game likes this why are you even on /vr/? theres tons of garbage indie games that play like this. i dont get why /vr/ complains about modern games and then the games they like are
zelda...metroid...earthbound...symphony of the night...
like are you moronic? thats all that gets made now

zoomers will never understand but LTTP was such an unfathomably huge quantum leap forward on every single conceivable level from the NES Zelda games

It's in the title mate, it's a link to the past.

This game has unskippable cutscenes
>mash A
Ezpz. Think for one moment of your life, zoomer.
>It's not like there's an exp system
There are armour upgrades that drastically reduce damage, and you get more hearts as you play..... dick head.

>Aged poorly but good at the time
You’ve fricking aged poorly. That game has aged like fine wine.
its age
This game is so boring, the original zelda was kind of linear, but ALTTP is long which makes it more boring than the first zelda.
take your ADHD meds, underage b&
Artstyle.
Man. Spunky pink haired adventurer grill Link is pretty good.
I wonder if there is literally anyone literally out there who literally thought Link was literally a girl named Zelda who had to rescue a princess named Zelda
It didn't feel retro when you played it in that time period, what are you talking about zoomer?

Might have something to do with being a 1991 release, but what do I know?
it came out in 1991
Your brain is literally broken. What a stupid, shit thread.
if anything it feels pretty modern in its design, very streamlined and comfortable for the player.

I wish more games like Metroid Prime were being made.
They are though, there's tons
