They were always ugly as hell. I guess they morons that found this shit cool all died, thank good.
Frick off with all these trans threads
this here is exactly why every thread starts as the opposite of what you want to actually discuss. if OP started the thread with "lmao this shit was stupid as frick what were they thinking" you'd have these 3 posts replaced with people defending it and enjoying the old transparent shit.
learn from your mistakes OP in order to actually discuss things you like here you have to pretend to hate them
They still exist you just need to mod them in because casuals can't into fun aesthetics/ companies make barebones shit to sell to the widest install base.
Last time I posted in a thread like this some schizo lost his mind about transparent consoles/peripherals being "riced up" and comparing it to RGB lmao.
Doesn't it actually have something to do with not exposing the internal components to uv rays? Like the more complex consoles and controllers got the more small components were there and ran a higher risk of being ruined by sun exposure. It's like the same reason the Dreamcast would turn from white to nasty ass yellow.
I doubt there's anything sensitive enough in a controller to get ruined by the level of light that's typically in a living room or whatever. Consoles turning yellow was a result of bromine in the plastic being added as a flame moronant to meet safety standards, and oxidation would cause it to turn colour.
They were gone long enough that the people who were 12 the last time they were big are wasting money on nostalgia now, so they're back. There's an orange transparent SteamDeck now so there's going to be transparent Switch2s and PS5 controllers soon enough.
I'm glad we skipped being nostalgic for beige boxes though, otherwise a bunch of ugly beige crap would need to be made first.
I honestly never really liked it. I prefer solid colors on my consoles/controllers. The only time I actually liked it was for the Playstation Memory cards (because it helped differentiate between them), but even then I would've preferred just solid colors.
They look goofy as frick. They're for kids, not men.
filtered zoomies

I'd rather have someone be genuine and just ignore bad actors.
me too.
youre not fish and i refuse to bait like that.
Frick yeah this boomerang shaped object covered in buttons and sticks sure is MANLY being made out of opaque plastic instead of transparent plastic.

I'm sorry your funny joke went unappreciated, anon.
oh i got it now
Too many unironical morons nowadays.
My neighbour had one of these. Used to play Killer Instinct on it together.
Minimalism overtaking everything + the industry wanted to pivot away from being seen as toys.
It was part of an aesthetic design movement that went completely out of fashion by the late 00's.
They still exist you just need to mod them in because casuals can't into fun aesthetics/ companies make barebones shit to sell to the widest install base.
but this look is not SERIOUS! I'll be judged HARSHLY by my peers!
As you should be, skittle buttons look like shit.
Pretty sure you can get transparent ds4/5 controllers
They were fun, therefore the gaming industry stopped making them
PDP makes them but they're cheap crap
Turns out they actually make you turn trans. sorry if you owned one and it hasnt happened yet, its inevitable

too much soul for the soulless zoomer
Devs are no longer proud of their hardware and thus don't want you to see it.

Literal troony shit. have a nice day right now.
?
Zoomers have culture war mindrot, don't engage with them directly.
They still exist but only for third party products that are typically dogshit.
I have this one, it still works and the games are fun. Unfortunately, the batteries in the game cartridges are dead so I can't save them anymore.
I have to agree, it's usually not flag ship products anymore so no one buys them.
3 posts mentioning trannies out of nowhere. You can really tell when schools go on break.
Sony still made them for the PS4, they were all unique to certain stores (Walmart, Target, and Best Buy IIRC)
They made more for a Death Stranding bundle and and a special one for hitting 500 million consoles sold.
In my opinion, those look pretty neat
I can't see shit.
They're less foggy looking IRL
(OP) #
I don't know but I miss them.
I use this when I plug in my steam deck, it's a nice little controller but the dpad kind of sucks
it looks moronic
You wanna try again dude? I think you meant to say it looks frickin badass
The Switch Pro controller is technically transparent, there's just not much to see.
Modern RF shielding means there's less interesting shit to see
These were cool when colors triggered my endorphins. Now I opt for solid blacks or greys to reflect the darkness in my heart.
Uhhh it's peripheral of color bigot
Imagine a transparent ORANGE controller. Now that would be cool!
Just imagine this type of look on Xbox controller or a dualsense, snoy and smallshaft will never.
>snoy and smallshaft will never.
Yeah?
Looks like shit.
Damnit snoy.
reminds me of the old iMacs. Good amount of soul
Dirt slips inside and then it looks nasty.
I can't imagine being the sort of manchild that cares about the color of the controllers he uses.
this one is pretty popular lately
> Genesis style d-pad
> Orange color.
Can I ask for that, sars?
I had the donkey kong see through N64 as a kid OOK OOK OOK
