this pic has always been moronic. with extra polygons you could have real hair and real clothes instead of unmoving plastic. plus video games arent just a single character. you can add more polygons to the entire scene

I've genuinely never finished the game and yet have tried starting it and giving it another chance like 5 times. I start it, get like 5-10 hours in before getting tired of it and dropping it. XV isn't an average game because it's made up of average components. XV is an average game because it's made up of some absolutely phenomenal shit and also god awful shit and they sort of meet in the middle. The game's fricking schizophrenic in quality.

I completed the entirety of the base game plus the original DLC. It's a travesty what happened to the game. A lot of smart ideas trampled by LOL only 2 towns, one you have to ride a boat of no return to and if you do return is retconned as happening before you went on the boat. Also let's take out the entire opening sequence of the game that was in advertisements for the game for fricking years up till the 15 rebrand and turn it into a shitty movie.

The list of pants on head moronic shit goes on and on. Pisses me off because I really liked the idea of a bro adventure with NO GIRLS ALLOWED and they mishandled it so much fricked up so much of the original vs13 shit. The final kick in the dick was the cancellation of the alternate ending DLC and modding tools that would have let people mod in quests and other shit.

The jump to the 360/PS3 era and getting an HD tv was the last big jump that I really felt. Everything else has just been kinda the same. I still don't know where the frick games taking over 100 gigs became normal.

Is this like a weird third-world complaint, or US because I know they have issues with their ISP's? I'm from UK and I can download 100gb in like 15 mins.

The PS1 was capable of much more than that, Square Enix are just bad developers.
Also, everyone knows graphics peaked with the PS2, everything after that has been slop.

FF7 was fairly early on in the PS1's life cycle. They improved with 8 and 9, although those games kinda show that the PS1 isn't really all that great with detailed and semi-complex models. Some people will say "They look great on a CRT", but when I played them on my CRT as a kid I always thought they looked shitty. Like it doesn't matter whether it's on a CRT or a high-end monitor via emulator, Squall looks like a grotesque freak either way.

Same thing that happened to technology in general.
In 2003 it wasn't that rare for people to just not have mobile phones and the ones that did own them only used them for calling and texting.
4 years later, in 2007, the iPhone came out.
15 years later, in 2023, you're still using an iPhone.

Those are hardware gaps not software or developers. Game graphics can't evolve more than it already did. It already look like real life.

We've hit a point where there's graphically very little return on the jump between hardware, but people are still obsessed with graphics.

I don't even think its that, I honestly think it's just a generation thing. Think about someone growing up in the 00s, it was PS2 to maybe PS3/4 etc and they haven't seen the progression like the generation before. Now imagine kids growing up in 2010's, there's basically no change.

Wtf. I thought there was at least 6-7 years between these games. So you just get older an forget timeliness? Wtf. I remember getting a ps1 with the phantom menace and ff7 in 1999. It took me a year to even play ff7. It just stayed in its cellophane for a year.

people will tell you its diminishing returns, soul vs soulless etc but the reality is old devs were just incompetent which made all the catching up the industry did around the PS2 and Xbox 360 eras look more impressive than it really was. a game like gears of war could easily be made on a ps1 but the developers back then made full moron spagetti code games which limited what was actually possible with the hardware

I'm not a 7gay, but I will still forever be annoyed that SE refused to give us a proper 7 remake. would be nice to be able to replay the original game without the lego models or the garbage translation (and maybe add in a Hard difficulty and some more postgame content).
