Drow men will be enslaved (so no change, lol), drow women will be bred by human male fighters, in a generation a new patriachal drow-half-elf Empire will rise.

You apes and your gray elf fantasies. The underdark is more than just corellon's shit bucket. You would all fricking die with the elves when you meet a beholder eye to eye. Or a mind flayer, or a roper, or a cloaker, or a bulette, or a purple worm, or literally anything that stalks this impossibly cavernous subterrane.

Meanwhile, actually drow invading a human kingdom and the male drow elfing them a lot was a thing for some time.
But coombrains are anti-elf and don't want to see them succeed and do cool stuff.

Why not? Honestly, surface kingdoms trying to invade and conquer pieces of the Underdark should be a really common occurrence. Not sure why we don't see it more often.

        Do expand

Well for resources it can be any number of things. Is your nation is lacking in basic things like Iron, Silver, Gold, maybe rare gemstones? You can find plenty there. There's exotic animals and monsters that have incredibly strong bones, beautiful pelts, or would just be worth a lot to a rich bastard noble who wants a new pet.

There's also mushrooms fricking everywhere. Maybe some of them are incredibly rare delicacies? Think truffles except instead of needing a pig to find you need to travel god knows how long underground risking life and limb just to find some mushroom that can be worth thousands for a single cap. Or maybe the mushrooms have incredible magical/alchemical use and are worth fortunes to the right buyers.

For strategic purposes. You have access to literal tunnels everywhere. In a war with a neighboring state? Move a quarter of your army under their walls and boarder to raid/conquer from behind. It can also serve defensively. If your kingdom is under attack the underground portions of your nation would be a literal hell to invade if the people have no experience doing so.

You also prevent raids and attack from the frickers who already live in the Underdark. The Drow as already mentioned mentioned, but also the Illithids and any other evil bastards hiding out down there. Securing your surface nation from constant worry of being raided and made into slaves would be a massive boost to moral and economically as you no longer loose tons of people and wealth to constant pillaging.

You also get access to the greatest resource of all - Drow women. As there is no race of women more perfect to be wives.

Rather tempting, what would drows get

              Anonymous

Well if you have any Seldarine Drow around. They would be fricking ecstatic. As by conquering any Drow cities it would be a massive middle finger to Lolth. Either by making them into the slaves for Human wiener Or through just outlawing slavery and forcing the Drow there to accept a way of life without Lolth and her supreme women moments of turning people into spiders. While this would take many years to occur and there would no doubt be occasional uprisings by furious Drow nobles who lost their positions of power. There would also likely be a great number of Drow who would have previously been at the bottom of the social hierarchy that would be able to take advantage of this new system and would embrace the surface dwellers way of life. Effectively rising to the top, by offering services to the conquering nation. Teaching them how to survive the Underdark, how to best extract the resources there, the best routes for travel, etc. They would likely become Eilistraee worshippers themselves after being ministered to by traveling Eilistraee priests who would no doubt flock to your nation in support of your efforts as well. Your nation would likely become a bastion of the arts as well due to this and any Drow who still resist can easily be subdued through keeping them barefoot and pregnant with Half-Elven babies.

ok, but how the frick are humans going to see in the dark? who's going to be casting night vision on an entire population 24/7? Where are people going to get a light source and fuel.

        >Honestly, surface kingdoms trying to invade and conquer pieces of the Underdark should be a really common occurrence
Average d&d fantasy settings tend to make having shittons of yet unconquered surface wildness around mandatory
Easier to talk the sort of pleb-NPCs who'll die from the first two goblins anyway to settle there, than to bruteforce them into staying underground without sun.

Because DnD's lore is kinda shit. It's mostly just a bunch of fantasy tropes thrown together with WAY higher fantasy magic than the game's systems allow you to really explore.

Enemies in the underdark are too high level.
Even the drow can't colonize large swathes of the underdark and stick to their little city-states.

In From games I usually gravitate towards heavy weapons with reach (anything halberd-sized and bigger) but I feel like giving the ranged classes (?) a shot in DD2, how does playing ranged feel compared to melee? I haven't finished any FS game with a mage character either, it never felt as satisfying as melee

I like the idea of a Drow woman whose basically already crazy and obsessed with spiders and willingly becomes a Drider to become closer to her Goddess would probably be considerable less insane then those forced into it.

It can´t be done but even if it could it would only lead to Lolth corrupting and breaking them. From all the deities of D&D Lolth is the most twisted, cunning and whimsical. Even Bhaal reward his slayers as long as they are faithful and murder in his name but Lolth... Lolth is treacherous and enjoys breaking even her own toys for no other reason than her own amusement.

She would take even the holiest of paladins turn it mad, sent it to kill and betray and then, once it had proven it´s loyalty she would betray and break it.
