      I've seen tons of people getting filtered by Doom 3's screen shaking, but b***hing about red screen tint is something else.
      Also is right, the timing of red screen is perfectly calculated. Unnoticable when you make tiny mistakes like eating imp's fireball, more prevalent for serious cases like point-blank shotgun blast. Half-second bright red is only for real big frickups (cyber rocket).

              If it was so easy to avoid rockets, the cyberdemon would be infamous for being the easiest enemy in the game, if not in all of gaming
              Besides, while it is easy to avoid 1 rocket coming from one direction, it definitely isn't easy to avoid 10 rockets coming from 10 different directions, like in Plutonia and fan made maps.

                I can barely even do low tier slaughtermaps to completion and battling multiple Cyberdemons simultaneously is fricking easy. Clear the cyberdemons in GO 2 It with only your rocket launcher. Or better yet do it with only a shotgun, not even the SSG. If you go in flying with the BFG you'll nuke the frick out of them at lightning speed. I make it a habit to clear GO 2 It every few months, and each cyberdemon fight is easy, barring only the one in the narrow cramped hallway.

                Clear E2 M8 with just the pistol, max ammo allowed. Clear it with Shotgun, then chaingchanging. Clear maps that have more than one cyberdemon. Without BFG the Spider mastermind us infinitely harder than the cyberdemon because it's hitscan auto shotgun "super chaingun".

                Cyberdemon is always easy.

                Cyberdemon was definitely not used in any particularly difficult manner in any of the original iD maps, but I think he has his utility if you think about what he can. I've played maps where multiple of them stalk you through a narrow labyrinth, and it's sweaty as FRICK, because you have so little room to dodge if you get in their line of fire.
                Then there's that one map in Doom 64 which is a huge set of stairs in like the shape of an 8, and you've got this Cyberdemon chasing you, and what makes that level bust my ass is that every couple other steps teleports the bastard around effectively randoly so he can basically be anywhere at any moment.

    That was actually a big help when I was playing through TNT on my friend's computer which didn't have any sound at all.
    Obscuring the player's sight is a great way to awaken their survival instincts because it's about the most important of the senses.
